Not just any bird. Our bird. The Bald Eagle. And how regal they look! Fur and feathered arms for wings, expanding at the hand ready for flight. The skullcap heads with hanging layers of fur seals the bald theory, and the tufty strands build like plumes. Gareth Pugh keeps it in his grayscale threshold for Fall 2012, and soars with a strong, if not endangered theme.

Miss Piggy has been hogging the fashion spotlight for quite some time, but now it’s time for all the Muppets to step out in style. Have designers like Tom Ford, Rick Owens, Versace and Michael Kors been secretly inspired by the Muppet clan? We think so, because we found a whole ton of muppet doppelgängers on the runway. They took over Good Morning America this morning, and now they’re taking over FashionIndie. What with all this media, once they’re done saving their theater, maybe they can help save Fashion Week.

The Muppets Wriggle Their Way Into Opening Ceremony

With a karate chop and a plaintive banjo strum, the Muppets x Opening Ceremony collection is finally here. Kermit, Gonzo, Fozzie, Animal and of course, the diva herself, Miss Piggy get plastered all over sweaters ($230), hoodies ($65) and T-shirts ($45) with the occasional button-down ($180) thrown in for good measure. Noticeably absent, however, is Janice, the cooler than cool, perpetually stoned — tell me once that you’ve seen her with her eyes wide open — Donatella Versace-esque lead guitarist of my favorite band, Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. Take a look at the collection after the jump.

Later this week, Spring 2012 will permeate the interwebs, making us go googly eyed over trends we won’t fully appreciate for another six months. Meanwhile, I stepped outside today to the first NY chill of the season. So before I get Spring Fever over New York Fashion Week, let’s chat about the looks we’ve been lusting over for Fall that we finally get to put to werq.

Jackets go ablaze when electric hues brighten up the scene. Proenza Schouler, Jil Sander and Phillip Lim have not gone back to black, and how refreshing!

Celebrating Sesame Street‘s 40th anniversary, American Apparel the California-based clothing company will release a “limited-edition” t-shirt that will feature line drawings of Jim Henson‘s characters.

My beloved past time Jim Hensen characters of The Muppets and Sesame Street, are to be feature on American Apparel tees. Not sure if I feel to comfortable with Dov Charney pimping-out my puppet friends. Wait, I can see it now Bert and Ernie plastered on a tee that a jailbait porn-stars is modeling. Being that there’s still a much younger generation that still watches them, this idea does not seem very tactful.

Dov, I’ve heard you don’t even have permission to print the Hensen.

Oh god, this is total bullfrog shit.

This is the type of corny ass fashion stuff you see coming out of first year FIT students, you know that “couture” wannabe stuff that’s made when a student notices a commercial featuring Kermit selling Pizza Hut Stuffed Crust and realizes that the frog is the spokesperson fashion so desperately needs. So he heads to the nearest Toys ‘r us and picks up 30 stuffed muppets for $20 bucks and then stitches them together and attempts to charge $5000 for the “art” piece. Of course, in this case, it isn’t some misguided fashion student, it’s French designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and it isn’t some final project for a Fashion Design class, it’s Paris Fashion Week. Either way, were going to give this an F.

Nah, just joking. It’s just the closest thing we’ll ever see to it.

Diddy attempts to take us back to the late nineties with his horrible Blair Witch impersonation. The mogul figured he’d share with all of us his “fear” of Sarah Palin by reenacting his favorite scene from the overhyped shaky camera shitfest. Seriously dude, I’m more scared of the fact that you think it’s right to subject your minions to such an over remixed pop reference. You couldn’t do a Cloverfield-stye video and have Sarah Palin step in for the monster terrorizing New York. Or at least a Saw-reference as that’s the only “scary” movie that has had some staying power.

Poor attempt at parody dude, and where the hell is Cassie? If I was marrying an MySpace hip hop hottie I wouldn’t be alone in my bed diddling with my Final Cut Pro, if you know what I mean.

Plus dude, the Muppets did it better…
