The stars from all walks of fame turned out for the iconic chat, including Diane von Furstenberg, Uma Thurman, Naomi Watts, Sean Avery, Chanel Iman, Prabal Gurung, Tory Burch, Jessica Alba, Jerry Seinfeld, Tom Brokaw, Babs Walters, Martha Stewart and of course, Gayle King.  All in all the event raised over $7 million proving once again that everything Oprah touches turns to gold. Olsen cherished meeting Pfeiffer, whom she claims was “one of the reasons I wanted to become an actor.”  While Wood remembered brandishing a jump rope as a whip pretending to be Catwoman, like every little girl — or sexually-confused little boy — did after seeing Pfeiffer claw up the screen in Batman Returns.

Pinto, meanwhile, gushed over a crushed velvet-wearing Streisand: “I can’t believe you are right here in front of me. You’re not only a legend in Hollywood, but literally all over the world. I can say that because I come from India.” Streisand wasn’t short on praise — she never is, if everyone knows what’s good for them. Bigelow, the first woman to win a Best Directing Oscar, praised Babs as “somebody who has mastered virtually every art form imaginable: directing, acting, composing, singing, producing, writing.”

The legend, however, was quick to point out that out of the 250 films released last year, women directed only 7 percent and wrote only 10 percent. Aside from the glass ceiling behind the camera, Viola Davis emphasized diversity in front of it — or lack thereof.  “You don’t always love what you do,” she said during her speech, “but what keeps me in the business is hope, and that’s the hope that women of color are also part of the narrative.” [WWD]

Paul was at nearly every rehearsal – far more hands on than your average ballet composer. He had already been working on an underwater themed symphony when he got the call from Ballet Master in Chief, Peter Martins, to compose a piece for the New York City Ballet. Paul accepted, and created a story and score off of what he had already started. He went back to that workon a computer program he has admittedly become quite obsessed with), with the thought of that sound inspiring dance.

Here, he beholds a Terra Punk – one of the “baddies” as he calls them – in full costume. Stella went along the guidelines of what Dad saw in his mind as he created these characters. He wanted them to be tattooed tribally, so she imprinted the tattoo upon nude dancer’s mesh.

Stella stepped out of her realm of the Stella McCartney brand to create a fantastical skin for the ballet to take place within. After a decade of work with legendary makeup artist  Pat McGrath, in which Stella rarely deviated from the fresh face, she was finally able to let McGrath stretch her theatrical wings and transport these dancers to a kingdom under the sea. She worked with the elite textile printer Dyenamix to create scales out of tie dye, and tattoos out of mesh.

The fabrics she chose fluttered with the movement of water. Part of the ensemble of hand maidens wore tops with a billowing cape behind it, two separate strips of silk attached to the shoulder and waist seams of the shirt. It hit the air like swimming fins.

Three Drunk Lords stumble-danced on stage to a wobbly jazzy sound, in thick multi-color painted striped suits. Perhaps this pattern will find its way onto Stella’s future runways.

The treacherous servent to the Princess Honorata wore a dark rectangular washed silk cape that danced like ribbon around her body, attached to her fingers. See the sketch:

The harmony of Paul’s bubbling and expressive orchestral musical movements along with Stella’s movement-focused color-blasted underwater mix of breezy chiffons and body suits creates a truly special environment for the ethereal grace of the NYC Ballet.

– Professional stunner and sometime actress, Eva Mendes, on her new gig as the face of Thierry Mugler‘s 19 year old fragrance,  Angel.

The new campaign, conceived by Thierry Mugler himself, is expected to cost about $5 million over the next twelve months. This will include a film shot by British director Baillie Walsh, a significant digital campaign featuring a strong social  media component and print ads shot by genius duo, Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, set to run in September.

Mendes, who has previously shilled for Revlon and is the current face of Pantene, replaces co-actress Naomi Watts as the Mugler Angel. For the TV commercial, shot in Prague, Eva displays her vocal chops on the classic “Windmills of Your Mind.”

Check out the back of this womens blazer jacket covered in lace! (Anyone know the label?) It looks amazing. I´m just thingking of refashioning my fav black wool brazer by sewing pices of lace on the back bodice and sleeves. And then cutting the back piece and sleeve fabric away from under it. Adding the layered ruffles is optional bot adds a lovely victoran feel to the piece. You with me?! This would be a killer look in summer weddings/bridal wear or you steampunk fans.

The Aussie looks amazing in this gown and we’re holding our breathe to see what else premiere’s from Premiere since seeing the amazing dress Salma Hayek rocked a few days ago.

Thierry Mugler revealed the bottle for its new fragrance, the campaign for which stars Naomi Watts and she looks very unlike herself. I almost didn’t recognize her, maybe it’s the photo (or her enormously large hand) but a much different version than the one below.

Love Naomi Watts, beautiful stylish girl, and Love Love Love Zac, but this look isn’t really doing it for me. It looks like a mishmosh of thrown together trends, tied in with velour strappy heals. Can’t tell what is her handbag and what is part of the garment.
