Natalia Vodianova is all over September issues this year (Harper’s Bazaar UK). The first spread from Vogue’s September issue has been leaked (sorry Anna). Vodianova plays ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot, she looks like a dream in Nina Ricci and John Galliano. Hurry up, September!

Is it just me? Or is Harper’s Bazaar killing it all over the world for the September issue? Move over Vogue..

Makeup company Guerlain has long featured Natalia Vodianova as their very own sort of cover girl. But when creative directors were looking for some inspiration in their newest colour collection, they had to look no further than right beyond the camera. Natalia served as quite the guiding light for Guerlain’s newest “Russian Beauty” collection which hit select stores in the beginning of August. Go check it out!

This September cover shot shows Natalia in all her etherial, effortless glory. Theres a few things to be excited about here: Harper’s used a model on the cover of their September issue, they actually interviewed her, and she’s sporting some awesome Minx nails. This has been an exciting month for Natalia as she and her husband have made Vanity Fair’s International Best Dressed List.

The Louis Vuitton hairpieces worn by Natalia Vodianova in Vogue Russia give this shoot a vintage Playboy/oldschool Madonna feel. I love her dark eye makeup and these bunny-like bows.

Finally a break from celebrity cover girls, the June 2009 issues include an impressive list of cover models, such as Lily Donaldson, Liu Wen, Liz Hurley, Anna Vyalitsyna, and Natalia Vodianova.
Doutzen Kroes made the cover of Vogue España, shot by Alex Cayley, and Gisele Bundchen and Sasha Pivovarova appeared on Australia and Russia Harper’s Bazaar. Bummer: The Bundchen cover is a copy of U.S. Harper’s Bazaar April ’09

“My agency thought that I might never do shows, because I was a bit shorter and not skinny enough,” Vodianova revealed of her early career. “But what happened was; when I gave birth to my first son I was 19, so I lost a lot of weight. I guess the stress on the body was extreme and I suddenly just turned into this stick — just the way designers love models — and after Lucas was born that’s when my career took off. I opened a lot of shows on the runway and that’s where stars are made in my industry.”

Monday night’s feature presentation might have been the photographs in the Model as Muse exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, but coming in close second were the muse models themselves. I’ve run into a few of these bread winners on the street, but I must admit, nothing would be more intimidating than being towered over by a glamorous, naturally gorgeous and fashionable beanpole.
I have few qualms here. Anja Rubik showed some major leg. Daria Werbowy braved the infamous Balmain shoulders. Erin Wasson rocked the androgynous look. Sasha Pivovarova went simple on the dress and crazy on the feathers. But Natalia Vodianova…she looked like an innocent Princess Peach. This is the Met Gala, not a Super Mario convention.
