NBC’s “Fashion Star” Will Give Away $6 Mil Contract with Macy’s, Saks and H&M

There is no dearth of fashion reality shows on television with the pioneering Project Runway immediately coming to mind. But with nine seasons and a spin off under its belt, PJ Runway hasn’t necessarily set the fashion world ablaze. It’s doubtful NBC’s Fashion Star will be any different, but with a $6 million contract with Macy’s, Saks Fifth Ave and H&M at stake, its contestants will at least have something to show for their efforts besides an air kiss from Heidi Klum and claw marks from Nina Garcia.

June is our music month, and Los Angeles Times Magazine must have gotten the memo. They held their second-annual Rock/Style event on Wednesday nigh, celebrating the collaboration of L.A.’s fashion and music scenes with live music and fashion shows, hosted by Jay Sean and featuring the DJ talents of the EC Twins.

FASHION SCRAMBLE: Decarnin Says Bye Bye to Balmain + Westwood Does Not <3 NY + Elle on TV

- After five lucrative, statement-shouldered years, Balmain and creative director Christophe Decarnin are getting a divorce. What will happen to the sequined jackets?! No one ever thinks about the sequined jackets! Decarnin was notoriously absent from the Fall 2011 show in Paris under speculation of a mental break, but sources say the designer and Balmain’s chairman/CEO Alain Hivelin just didn’t see eye to eye. An internal hire is expected to be announced shortly. [WWD]
