Each piece is designed by New York and Miami resident (and cutest hippie on the block) Tini Courtney.  An artist by trade, her designs are a form of wearable art, elevated by the fact that they have specific meanings and traces of crystal healing.  With fans such as Johnny Depp, Zoe Kravitz, Juliette Lewis, and Edward Sharpe, its no wonder that they’ve already caught the eyes of Vogue.com and NYTimes Style Magazine. We chatted with Tini about who the HOWL girl is, how she got started designing, and what she does to stay inspired.

What inspired you to start designing dream catchers?

I mistakingly made a necklace that reminded me of a dream catcher and became obsessed. I rummaged through all of my old jewelry and used whatever i could get my hands on. I have always been fascinated with dream catchers and the powerful meaning behind them. There are so many elements from the Native American culture that i have become more aware of now that i have been making these pieces. Crystal healing and the use of stones in my necklaces is a main focus that is incorporate into all of these pieces. All of the treasures and stones are explained on the individual tags, leaving each necklace with a different purpose or intention.

I love this small dreamcatcher. what was the meaning behind it when you designed it?

I made a few pieces with Art Basel in mind, and that was one of them. I wanted to make something small that could be worn with anything. I encompassed a lot of treasures that i collected on my recent trip to New Mexico, lots of bright stones and trinkets that really made those pieces stand out. That one is perfect for you.

I really can wear it with anything! People are always noticing it.  Other than treasure hunting and creating new dreamcatchers, what else do you do for fun? 

Drawing, yoga, painting, styling, treasure hunting, henna. Anything to keep these hands busy.

Do you have any new years resolutions?

Staying focused on upcoming projects that you will be seeing very soon!

6. Tuleste Market Diamond Pin, $39.00: I must admit that I am biased because I do own one of these myself. It can be affixed to any lapel, sweater, or necklace. It is extremely versatile and is surely a conversion starter.

7. Charles Albert Sterling Silver Spiked Cuff, $650: This cuff is guaranteed to turn heads. It  is very Gaga, Daphne Guinness, and Anna Dello Russo. It can be the signature piece for the very bold and daring.

Layer this Large locket ($22) with lots of other delicate little necklaces to get a really cool, effortless look. Fill it with an antique photo of said wealthy grandmother to keep the tale spinning, or wear it  alone.

This Tiny skeleton key necklace ($22) looks salvaged from the antique shop. Feel free to tell anyone who asks that it’s the key to your family fortune.

This tiny Nautical star ($25) is just the right price: while many gold star necklaces are hundreds of dollars, this is truly budget-friendly.

If you’re the non-traditionaly type, go for this sterling silver Tiny pinecone necklace ($23) that adds a little bit of unexpected whimsy to an outfit.

Lately my brain has been having serious déjà-vu overtime.

It seems everywhere I turn, there’s something studded or super-spiky.

When I saw this collection by Assad Mounser, It was like being sent back to the ’70s, with my hair all frizzed up and wearing my leather pants, looking like a glam-rock chick. [Pictured Above: Moonage Daydream Collar $539.00]

I’m thrilled with the fact that bohemian vibes run rampant throughout the collection and that it features lots of components mixed with crystals, turquoise, lava rock, and glistening metals.

Also I love the way she uses found objects like tricked-out bullets and cross pendants. Definitely not the look for the girly-girl, cause this is rock’n roll all the way.

Ravishing Jane has created a a line of Charlie’s Angels-inspired jewelry, but instead of Lucy Liu, Cameron Diaz, and Drew Barrymore, she uses bunnies, pigs, and cats (I’m not even going to go into trying to figure out who is who). Turn Me On Designs (or TMOD) masters the contrast between funky and functional. The new collection, ‘Poetry in Braille’ is a collaborative effort with Andy Uprock. The collection features rings, necklaces, and rings on necklaces, in a creative light, using shadows to convey emotions, as shown in the above black and white images.

TMOD is also socially aware, they donate  a percentage of sales to Vision Australia.
