In an exclamation-point-riddled statement on the NKOTB website, Jonathan absolved Tiffany of any culpability, claiming to be gay for days, gurl:

“I have never been outed by anyone but myself! I did so almost twenty years ago. I never knew that I would have to do it all over again publicly just because I reunited with NKOTB! I have lived my life very openly and have never hidden the fact that I am gay! Apparently the pre requisite to being a gay public figure is to appear on the cover of a magazine with the caption ‘I am gay’. I apologize for not doing so if this is what was expected! My belief is that you live your life by example, and not by a caption on a magazine! If there ever has been any confusion about my sexuality, then you are someone that doesn’t even know me!

“I love living my life being open and honest, but at this time I choose not to discuss my private life any further! My fellow band members don’t discuss their private lives with their loved ones and I don’t feel that just because I am gay, I should have to discuss mine!”

Knight also took to Twitter to defend his one-time ex-girlfriend/fag hag:

“I’d also appreciate it if the people talking trash about Tiffany and Deborah [Gibson] knock it off and stop being nasty!”

And to express that all’s gay that ends gay:

“@tiffanytunes Tiff, please don’t lose any sleep over it! I know you weren’t being mean and I found it to be funny!”

Jonathan Knight may have a point; so many celebrities and public figures who are gay either don’t come out at all or when they do there has to be a PR blitz about it.

It’s 2011, do people still need to come out? Shouldn’t we be in a place by now where people can just feel comfortable being out and not have to throw open that closet door with the aid of a tabloid?

The boy bands are coming, the boy bands are coming………and boy are they old *ZING*. I keed. No but seriously, it’s an epidemic of ginormous proportions. New Kids on the Block, Backstreet Boys & New Edition are all back on the scene, I wonder if that residual income on songs sang has run out and it was either do another CD or the graveyard shift at Mickey Dumps. The overwhelming fear of my heart is pre-middle aged men traveling in groups of 5, dressed in the same color scheme, Jesus take the wheel. I don’t even know how New Kids were able to get Jonathan back on stage. Remember a few years ago when he was on Montell boo-hoo’n about stage fright and crowds of people, agoraphobia. I guess the possibility of makin’ more cash killed that. How do you feel about grown, really grown, men doin’ pop music, dancin’ around, looking matchy matchy? I know that’s my phobia!
