Caycee Black & Alisha Trimble Kickstart Fashion Week With Film Premiere

New York Fashion Week is quickly approaching, and what better way to kick it off than with fashion films. In an era of Vimeo and video lookbooks, Brooklyn-based designers Alisha Trimble and Caycee Black have taken the video campaign idea a bit further with the upcoming debut of their fashion films. The designers have teamed-up to premiere their films Dry and Between Two Worlds on February 8 at the Milavec Hakimi Gallery at 7pm.

Some fashion news we can afford to hear about: Vena Cava for Uniqlo launches tomorrow! The much anticipated collaboration kicks off May 12th, at the Uniqlo in Soho tomorrow with the delicate beauty you’d expect from the design duo of Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai. They’ve mixed their soft eye with the technologically advanced and well-priced fabrications of the major Japanese brand.

While there were definitely strong pieces in her collection, including this bowed asymmetrical pink gem,  I feel that this collection lacked the direction and vision of some recent women’s new comers. Still fresh from the mean halls of Parsons, Nima has all the potential to become a great fresh face, but first she needs a handle on styling a collection.
