SWEET TREAT OF THE WEEK: Four & Twenty Blackbirds Egg ‘N’ Grog Pie

Edited by

The day before Thanksgiving, there was a line in front of Brooklyn’s Four & Twenty Blackbirds that wrapped around the block when the pie shop opened at 8 a.m. But waiting proved a pointless task, as pies were sold out in five minutes. Lesson learned? Pre-order your holiday pies for pick up. If the decision of which pie to buy wasn’t already difficult enough, sisters Melissa and Emily Elsen have added a new seasonal treat to the menu. Called Egg ‘N’ Grog, it features rich and sweet egg nog custard with hints of rum and nutmeg, baked a in their homemade gingerbread crust. It’s so delightful, even the egg nog hater will love this sweet treat.

Big Bling is Boss for Chanel Pre-Fall 2012

Edited by

After viewing all 78 utterly gorgeous looks from the Chanel Pre-Fall 2012 show, we indies realized it’s the only pre-fall line actually worth paying attention to. Guests sat at a luxe high tea at Chanel’s Bombay-inspired spectacle held at the Grand Palais. Though Karl Lagerfeld was inspired by Indian men’s clothes, the garments were utterly feminine. And to my absolute personal delight, bling bling chains attaching nose rings to earrings are Kaiser approved. Transport yourself to another world in the gallery below.

Spongy cookies don’t usually come to mind when you’re thinking of NYC’s most delectable desserts, but there’s always room for an exception. The Madeleine is loved by French sugar freaks generations over, and West Village restaurant Fedora does it the justice it deserves. Baked to order and served with a honey-flavored sabayon, this is a sweet treat you don’t want to miss.

One of our favorite reads at FashionIndie, New York Magazine, just came out with its “Cheap Eats” issue, including 20 mouthwatering pages with the best food under $25 in New York City. Being in fashion and all, we frivolously spend most of our hard-earned cash on clothing and accessories. But that doesn’t mean we resort to street dogs and bad pizza (ewww). Over the course of three days, we will show you where you can get a cheap tasty bite while wearing the outfit you splurged on. Today, a weekend in Brooklyn.

TEAM TAVI: Why Dying Media Whores Can’t Stand a Successful 13 Year Old Blogger?

TEAM TAVI: Why Dying Media Whores Cant Stand a Successful 13 Year Old Blogger?

In a winded article for AOL’s Stylelist (the formerly glorious dotcom’s attempt at hard hitting fashion “coverage”) a fairly jaded New York writer Katie Hintz-Zambrano decides to jump on the Tavi-bashing bandwagon by complaining about the 13-year old’s access to fashion designers, front row seating and overall influence in the industry.

As a blogger who’s often been targeted by larger media publications for my own personal approach to blogging, I found the article to be a double-sided bitch slap. Not only does she put into question the girls age as a factor in her overall value to fashion publishing, but she also does the unthinkable by calling her style was “warrant [of] serious eye rolls”. Oh snap!!!
