With New York Fashion Week over and done, we get to see what designers latched onto which wavelengths, sending down similar looks for us to love. Whether it’s an outlined slimming technique, laser technology treated leather, or the red wine that everyone in fashion’s been drinking, there are some trends that have permeated the runways. We’ve gathered 10 trends that have turned our heads from the indie runways up to the big guys’ catwalks. See what you may be wearing in 6 months time, or sooner.

Pulling some tricks from Stella McCartney this outlining trick slims and stuns all at once. it tricks the eye into giving the body perfect curves.

Color blocking has been vertically integrated. Split the scene two-faced for a cool contrast.

The hues run deep in Fall 2012, but none deeper than burgundy. Red wine flooded nearly every runway this week, and left us delightfully buzzed.

Perhaps inspired by the multitude of collar necklaces that have surfaced since Spring, collars are now stepping into the light, taking on their own colors separate from the rest of the garment. And it pops in a way that you won't have to lift it up.

Fanny who? These waist bags are all grown up, and some have even doubled. Hands and shoulders-free has become so chic.

The boob tube turned fuzzy as black and white meshed like a snowy television. The signal may not be coming in clear, but the trend certainly is.

Designers are pointing out your sexiest curves: hips, boobs, shoulders. On point.

Jackets hems hit the floor, billowing out behind as you take a step. The look is regal, the effect is long.

Because we live in the future (and Christopher Kane flourished with it last season), laser cut leather lace is cutting out everywhere.

Whether we're getting our athletics on, or yearning for old "glory days," this trickle up trends has saturated the runway and blown up street style. They. Were. Everywhere.

#NYFW Beauty Trend: Gothic Lips

Bright red lips are an obvious trend for Fall 2012 – we’ve literally been seeing them at every other show. But a bit more brooding and certainly a big statement, gothic lips are going to be huge come the changing of the leaves. Heads Up! Broad Brims for Fall 2012

We were already sniffing out this wide-brimming phenomenon earlier this week, but when Marc Jacobs sent out magnanimous furry top hats, this trend got a head above the rest. Whether floppy like at Rachel Zoe, cowboy like at Nicholas K, or golden like at Samantha Pleet, the brims are thick set to go all the way around.

Statement Pieces: Tough leather jackets, drop crotch harem pants, slouchy layering, all black and grey, master styler, black lips, blunt bangs, cowboy hats, fringe everywhere, gunslinger inspired leather vest, exposed backs, jackets with shoulder straps to be worn as a backpack, turtle shell pendants.

Khaki is Out of the Trench

From the very first show yesterday at Nicholas K, I could sense hunter green and khaki in the trenches. Nay, more than just trenches; slouchy slacks really pushed forward. Celebs like Jessica Alba, Ashley Olsen and Kristen Bell are feeling it too. Sling ‘em low and ride into neutral territory. Want a pair right now? Grab a pair of Broken-In Skimmer Pants like Jessica Alba did at the Gap – it’s a golden oldie.

Nicholas K Runway Grunge and a Literal Fall 2011

Swathed in draped velvets and cut flannels with layers of multi textured hunter greens and khaki browns, Nicholas K brought about a scene of remodeled 90′s grunge with a dusting of the 70′s boho. There was a sense of a military nod, but rather toward the veteran returned to peace. Like velvet knickers on a man. Most looks came shirt tied in plaid, defining the waist and a generation. These tops have multiple sleeves, lending themselves to be worn more ways than one. With pieces named “Diggs Reversible” and “Scarf Shrug”, this collection is transformational. But the thick flatform creepers caused quite an issue – - TWO models seriously ate it on the runway, face first. And one was a dude!

Nicholas K: Spring 2009 Collection

Nicholas K has lined up a well composed Spring collection for 2009. The collection features a lot of pieces that are all layered to create some great looks. My only concern is where are you living where the Spring is so cold you need to layer and wear so much? The collection seems to be more a Fall look to me, as I plan on spending my Spring and Summer in tank tops and shorts.
