L’Huillier takes the Stage and Sets it on Fire

Classical, dreamy and dangerous, Monique dazzled the audience with statuesque column like long dresses with killer drape, body hugging knee length skirts with fur trimmings and asymmetrical dresses. Adding to the dark drama was a heavy jeweled adorning necklace that was separate from the dresses and revealed sexy patches of skin between the neck and the bodice of the dresses. The music hummed with macabre and seductive lyrics, “We can’t stop this thing from what it’s gonna be.” The collection was reminiscent of Bogie and Bacall in Casablanca. Danger around every corner yet a fascinating sophistication to handle it!

Diesel Fall 2008

, ! You had me at “hello!”

This parade was a scene of seductive black dresses with a hidden flex of electric blue and red lining. It was total funky washed up Wednesday afternoon couture! All I could think of was - how in the world do I get these clothes all over my body? has this brilliant way of making anything look so cool and loyal to the 20-something crowd. Monochromatic colors in 12 shades of grey marched down the runway. Balloon shape, silky, jumper suits with what looked like an artist from the village laid print across the whole ensemble, followed up with black stockings and black early-century boots. What more could you ask for? not only showed off its cool and collected self, but also managed to layer and layer and layer greys and sand colors on both men and women. It was so profound to me that I noticed not only the clothes but the beautiful faces wearing them. What happened? The shirts and coats started this look of 1960s London, like “My Fair Lady” in 12 shades of grey, blues and sands. I found that these pieces were even more colorful because they highlighted the models, eyes, lips, brows, skin color and hair. Making this line involve a persons own style hiding behind their eyes. It’s a -”look at me, I’m amazing, my clothes are my own …. hey you over there, who cares what you think!”Take a look at these pics and tell me what you think!

Inspired by Carolina Herrera and her duck feathers!

INSPIRATION

REALIZATION

This show begins with the sounds of Chopin and finds itself in a world of electronic sounds, much like this great line, began and ended. Have you ever seen Robin Hood (feathers in the cap and array of patterns collapsing one after another from the tightly sown vest onto the velvet pants?) Well, imagine Robin Hood gone sexy and sweet for women!

Yellow and green chartreuse with highlights of burnt reds clothed these models from head to foot. Khaki riding pants coupled with the occasional chiffon ribbon draping the breeze behind. Very sexy dresses with movement in every direction looked nearly virgin like. The absolute impression that this show has left on me and that I have now transferred to my wardrobe is the idea of feathers, not just any feathers but, unique duck feathers with a design to add to a hat or pinned and weaved into my jacket!

Sitting front row is Anne Wintour, across from me with little to no expression and just the sweet smile that occasionally drew up on her face when she saw something that maybe got her. Carolina Herrera was inspired this season and it resonates in every stitch!
