#NYFW Beauty Trend: Orange Lips

Edited by

To my absolute delight, the bright lipstick trend is still going strong for Spring 2012. What’s more, orange lips are looking bolder than ever for the coming season. Whether worn with a light dusting of bright eyeshadow or bare, doe-eyed peepers, don’t think twice about keeping those sunny tangerine hues in your makeup bag. #NYFW Round-Up: FashionIndie’s Faves from New York Spring 2012

Edited by

There’s a definite consensus around the FashionIndie office regarding this season at the tents: lackluster. Gone was the excitement and the thrill of the new and in its stead stood a circus comprised of the old guard impatiently appraising the crop of would-be streetstyle stars and the army of bloggers hanging about as they waded through the muck of the nameless and the irrelevant to find a collection onto which to pin their ever-dwindling hopes . Still, there were a few shows that set the five barely-beating hearts of FashionIndie racing and had our backs aching to be clothed in their bright and bold designs.

James Corbett Studio & Spa Will Heal Your Mind, Body & Soul

Edited by

Pampering certainly isn’t the most important thing in this world, but it sure can help an aching mind and body to feel better. Lucky for me, I got to experience the most amazing Spa Week preview at James Corbett Studio & Spa right in the middle of Fashion Week. For one blissful hour, I was lost in a full-body Swedish massage that melted away the stress, shoulder knots and foot pains of NYFW. Not only was the masseuse Henry incredible, the staff welcoming and the environment relaxing and friendly, but James Corbett’s nonprofit Hair2Help makes you feel good about supporting his business. #NYFW Beauty Trend: Samurai Hair

Edited by

You can always count on the ponytail to be reinvented with each passing season. It comes in all shapes and sizes from bushy to sleek, high to low and can have curls, extensions or braids. For Spring 2012, designers looked east for inspiration. With a knot on the top and ponytail on the bottom, samurai hair is both chic and low maintenance. It’s been my go-to face washing hairstyle for years. Click through to see photos from all the labels on board.

Annabel Tollman Talks Trends, Night to Day Dressing, and Why Young Designers Are The Most Creative Type

Edited by

During the few weeks in between seasons when you wake up freezing and are sweating by noon, the conventional rules of fashion go completely out the window.  To help wrap our heads around how to dress right now, we chatted with uber glam stylist Annabel Tollman about her tips on transitional dressing, making an outfit work from night to day (note the difference), and why young designers might just be more creative than the bigger players.

Through a Lens Fashionably: Fashion Week by Richard Guaty

Edited by

Richard Guaty was doing double-duty for FashionIndie and our sister site Lookbooks during Fashion Week: getting yelled at by Lindsay Lohansneaking backstage and getting yelled at by producers; missing deadlines and getting yelled at by me. In short, he put in werq. But the results are more than worth it! Check out some of the amazing shots Richard captured around town:

I’m Looking Through You in Spring 2012′s Clearest Trend

Edited by

Surely sheers are sexy. They are the reason so many nipples exist on the runway. Clearly, we won’t be wearing them commando commes des models, rather these sheers are a sign that reads: make sure you are buying fantastic undergarments. Bandeaus, booty/bike shorts, itty bitty camisoles and more clothing-less-lingerie-like bras. Spring 2012 will be free of inhibition. Just ask Alexander Wang, Peter Som, Marc Jacobs and sensational others.
