Season in and season out, there is one thing about Lanvin that never changes: Alber Elbaz creates collections women just downright want. For Pre-Fall 2012, Elbaz took us into a world of clandestine beauty and stately volumes. Who doesn’t want  a salmon pink swing coat or leather opera gloves or a “plastified” dress with matching jacket in a hue of the deepest red? Any way you look at it, no matter which piece you crave, Lanvin is forever. Click through to see the collection in full.

Alexander Wang Loves a Working Girl for Pre-Fall 2012

Edited by

Unlike his cool and sporty Spring collection, Alexander Wang had something much more tailored in mind for Pre-Fall 2012. Sharp leather pieces worn over sheer plaid and houndstooth prints injected a structured, menswear feel to a collection that keeps the New York City working girl so obviously in mind. There is burnout, there is smokey color blocking, there is an oversized sunglasses case worn as a clutch – really, what’s not love? We obsess over this gallery just a little more every time we see it.

Big Bling is Boss for Chanel Pre-Fall 2012

Edited by

After viewing all 78 utterly gorgeous looks from the Chanel Pre-Fall 2012 show, we indies realized it’s the only pre-fall line actually worth paying attention to. Guests sat at a luxe high tea at Chanel’s Bombay-inspired spectacle held at the Grand Palais. Though Karl Lagerfeld was inspired by Indian men’s clothes, the garments were utterly feminine. And to my absolute personal delight, bling bling chains attaching nose rings to earrings are Kaiser approved. Transport yourself to another world in the gallery below.

Here Comes the Groom!

The beloved Simon Doonan, creative director at Barney’s, is getting married! The self proclaimed fashionista will wed interior designer and Top Design judge  Jonathan Adler. The ceremony will take place in California. Although the ceremony is a joyous occasion, Doonan says that Adler is already his spouse unofficially and getting married “is more like paying a parking ticket.” He assures his fans that the event will take place after the main event: New York Fashion Week. Congrats Simon!

Iman: A Model, Not a Plaything

Iman: A Model, Not a Plaything

Iman recently talked to NYMag about her upcoming Italian Vogue cover  “I still don’t like us (black models) to be a caricature,” she told them at the American Image Awards this week. “They’ll think, ‘Okay, we did it.’ And then they’re done with it, and we’ll have to wait till next year.” She added that in 2007 black models were “nonexistent” and she felt the fashion and beauty industries are out of touch. “When you see commercials and movies and every other form of art in terms of entertainment, you never have this conversation,” she said. “So it is so outdated.” She continued, “I can only say that one of the reasons is that models have never had unions, so there is no one to say, ‘This isn’t right.’

Yeah that’s what models need a union. First order of business uniform model size -2.
