SHOP: Horace Black Lightening Bolt Long Tee; $110

Every New Yorker’s favorite boutique, Oak nyc, is carrying this amazing new tee from Horace. We saw a similar design from the brand this past Summer, but they decided to make it a bit more Fall accessible by making it a long tee. I love the cut, design, everything about it!

Oak has produced some of the best looking footwear for the Fall/Winter season, and some of the most affordable too. All three of the styles featured here range from $220-$250. Not bad for something you’ll have for a long long time.

SHOP OAK: Black Quilted Flannel Shirt; $230
Besides different color combinations, I find it hard to believe that plaid can be made new and interesting. Well, Oak has done it again, this time, by adding a black quilted lining inside the plaid shirt! Although the quilting will be exposed when one rolls up the sleeves, part of me wishes the shirt was completely reversed with the whole shirt done quilted!

An infinity scarf is a must for the upcoming Fall season, I’m a huge huge huge fan of this one Oak currently has. A bit more money than one you may get at American Apparel, but at least 3,000 less people will have it.

TRENDSPARK: Cut Out Clothing

Fergie was spotted in Paris yesterday wearing this black shirt dress with multiple cut outs on the side, and last night at our I Heart Fashion Indie event one of the models wore this Don The Verb cut out dress from Oak. It seems to me that this is the equivalent of ripped jeans for the upper body. Yay or Nay?

SHOP Y-3 | Tube Spant $$
If you thought drop-crotch pants were hard enough to describe, try explaining to a fellow fashionsta what a “spant” is. Take a look at the amazingness above and you’ll see that the edgy, athletic label, Y-3’s, spant isn’t a pair of pants or a skirt, but more like an oversized pair of wool/jersey shorts with a single, attached legging. The spant, complicated as it may be to explain, is incredibly versatile, with the ability to be dressed up with heels or dressed down with sandals. I’d totally rock this out with a slim tank and a boyfriend blazer. For $276, the Y-3 spant isn’t terribly priced, but I’d totally love to see these in superfine wool dresspants!

DESIGNER TO KNOW: Chris Habana

From dark gothic anti-christ symbols to playful pop icons, the unisex jewelry of Brooklyn based Chris Habana are some one-of-a-kind, unique pieces. I’ve seen Habana’s work all over Greenwich Village hipsters and I must say, they are quite eye-catching. Now, I’m not the biggest fan of the pop-art words and phrases, but I’m loving the array of fish hooks, nails, spikes, crosses, bones and Alex & Chloe-esque geometric cages dangling from long chains. As a big fan of the layered jewelry look, I can totally see a conglomerate of these necklaces making for some edgy outfit accessories.
Check out Chris Habana’s jewelry at a variety of New York shops like Oak, Bblessing and TG170!

Kimberly Ovitz Spring 2009 Collection
With an overall simple aesthetic, the styling of Kimberly Ovitz’s Spring 2009 collection really brings her season looks together. I had the opportunity to get up close and personal with a few of Ovitz’s items last month, and I assure you, the quality makes up for the simplicity. The pieces are much like those you would see at Oak, some slouchy, some sleek, some intricately cut and some basic. I am loving the elegant cuffed, pocket bearing shorts, the double-breasted short suit and the versatile tie jacket dress. With layered accessories, the pieces can can easily act as the foundation for the perfect outfit. Oh, and just wait until you see Ovitz’s fall collection! I’ll post the photos once the press kit becomes available!
