In a multi-textured cavalcade of newly minted silhouettes, Eckhaus Latta has stepped out as one of the freshest design duos of the moment. With fuzzy crop tops for men and other highly versatile pieces, the designers construct garments that they want to be wearing. Pieces that look editorial when it’s all Eckhaus Latta, but fall separately into wearable layering pieces. The result is truly eye opening.

Pocket hottie Joseph Altuzarra of eponymous line Altuzarra beat out nine other designers to be named the grand prize winner of this year’s Council of Fashion Designers/Vogue Fashion Fund at Skyhigh Soho last night.

One Management‘s Jade Jackson can currently be seen holding her own in H&M‘s fall/winter campaign alongisde supers Freja Beha Erichsen (IMG) and Anja Rubik (Next), lensed by Terry Richardson (Art Partner). Having recently walked in shows for Ohne Titel and Yigal Azrouel, Jade took time to speak with us about her favorite photo and what went into creating it.

There’s a definite consensus around the FashionIndie office regarding this season at the tents: lackluster. Gone was the excitement and the thrill of the new and in its stead stood a circus comprised of the old guard impatiently appraising the crop of would-be streetstyle stars and the army of bloggers hanging about as they waded through the muck of the nameless and the irrelevant to find a collection onto which to pin their ever-dwindling hopes . Still, there were a few shows that set the five barely-beating hearts of FashionIndie racing and had our backs aching to be clothed in their bright and bold designs.

Ever since Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week moved from the tents at Bryant Park to the metaphorical tents at Lincoln Center, more and more designers have opted instead of external sites to hold their fashion shows. One of the most popular venues, Milk Studios, is now in direct competition with Lincoln Center for both sponsors and designers.

Anna Wintour and her flock of the fabulous have meticulously the selected 10 designers (and design duos) in the running for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award. Last year, Billy Reid took the top prize of $300,000, a year of mentorship and a bronze trophy. The two runners-up Prabal Gurung and Eddie Borgo each took home $100,000 and a year of mentoring. This year, the judges are Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough of Proenza Schouler (who join the committee for the first time this year), Mark Holgate of Vogue, Jeffrey Kalinsky of Jeffrey and Nordstrom, Steven Kolb of the CFDA, Reed Krakoff of Coach, Jenna Lyons of J.Crew, Andrew Rosen of Theory, Diane von Furstenberg of the CFDA, and of course the Queen herself, Anna Wintour of Vogue.
