OntFront, a menswear label out of Amsterdam, hit the runway with a collection of chess inspired classics. Paired with steely gray hair and knightly influences like this pair of battle ready gloves, the designers behind this line have managed to make the impossible, possible; making the chess club seem cool.

Hong Kong Fashion Week is an amazing presentation of forward thinking designers like Guo Pei, Ontfront, and Dorian Ho. The event was overseen by the Creative Director of Vivienne Westwood, Andreas Kronthaler. The man behind on of the most fearless labels on the planet gives us an interview on the joys of fashion on the eastern front.

One of my favorite (lesser known) designers, Ontfront, were kind enough to send over their new Spring/Summer lookbook, and I must say I remain impressed with their work. The brand does like to use some pretty distinct patterns, but I think what draws me to them the most is their tailoring. They always have amazing cuts and details that you don’t find too many other places.

Ontfront has me totally hooked for Fall 2009, and for good reason. The collection has a great color scheme of greys and purples, and the accents used (hoods, pin stripes and furs) really give that extra push into making these pieces different from the other collections out there.
