MUSE OF THE WORLD: No More Lives to Live, Dov’s Playboy Dreams and Backtracking with Matthew Williamson

Edited by

- Here’s proof that there really isn’t life after 40. ABC is cancelling 40-plus year old soap operas All My Children and One Life to Live, leaving only General Hosptial to carry on the softly-lit torch. So where does that leave Erica Kane? How will she survive without rivals to plot against, bitches to slap and men to steal? Or will she just fade silently into that great realm of grand diva bitches…Palm Springs. [Daily Beast]

Top 10 Most Stylish Ingénues

Edited by

Hollywood is buzzing with ingénues — young actresses who are typically cast as innocent or naïve characters, which is ironic in itself since there’s nothing innocent or naïve about anyone in Hollywood. There are, however, a crop of lovely ladies who stand head and collar bone above the pack, due to their talent, their beauty and their sense of style. Of course, one could argue that they all have a team of stylists and professional gays that keep them looking flawless, but you can throw anyone in couture; some sink while others end up doing backstrokes all over the competition. These are the 10 gals who are setting both the screen and red carpet ablaze. Let ‘em burn!

Tyra and ALT Discuss the Little Black D-D-D-Dress for Fa-Fa-Fa Fashion

Edited by

My new favorite show of all time — in all its 4 minute glory — is Tyra and André Leon Talley‘s Fa-Fa-Fa Fashion, a monthly exploration of wardrobe staples set to the crazy beat of Ty-Ty’s own special drum. For this, their second installment, Mama and Baby Bear, as I like to call ALT and Tyra (respectively) deconstruct the LBD, or Little Black Dress.

MUSE OF THE WORLD: Hervé Leger Is Uninspired, Proenza Is Peeved at Target and Whoopi Turned Her Oscar into a Bong

Edited by

- Hervé Leger waxes fondly on the age of the Supermodel, when girls were “always lively and smiling” as opposed to now when they’re “too skinny, too sad.” Well, it’s hard to be lively and smiling when you haven’t eaten in weeks. I mean, I haven’t been lively or smiling since high school. And that was drug-induced. [Vogue UK]

- Target is apparently offering a Mossimo knock-off of Proenza Schouler‘s PS1 bag and Jack and Lazaro are none too happy about it. Target on the other hand will neither confirm nor deny the allegations but they did say something about being rubber and Proenza being glue. [NYT]

FASHION SCRAMBLE: Something Smells Funny in Vegas + Reese Smells a Profit + Prince Charles Is Puzzled

Edited by

- This is something I wish I could say more oftem: a Chinese-run counterfeit fragrance operation was busted up in Las Vegas earlier this month. Shaoxia Huang, Shaoxiong Zhou and Shaowu Zhou were arrested in Sin City on March 2nd and they were indicted in Brooklyn on Tuesday for allegedly importing 37,000 units of counterfeit fragrances into the U.S. I was wondering why my Chanel Coco Mademoiselle smelled like wanton sauce. The skies are a little darker now that one of its brightest stars has ceased to shine — Dame Elizabeth Taylor died today. In addition to a buttload of grandkids, she leaves behind a legendary film canon. Elizabeth Taylor emerged from child stardom to become a gorgeous ingenue then a formidable actress and finally an Oscar-winning leading lady. Along the way she blazed a sartorial path that cemented her as not only a screen idol but a style icon. Let’s take a leisurely stroll down memory lane for some of Liz’s greatest fashions, on and off the screen, through her long, storied and above all, impressive life and career.

Miraculous Exfoliating Transformation

Edited by

In addition to being reminded that Mandy Moore can still work it on a mic, I noticed that her face was looking flawless at the Oscars. I found out that her beauty secret is an exfoliator, that ironically smells just like Candy. The brand is Arcona and the flavor, as I’ll call it, is Cranberry Gommage. It has the texture of chocolate mousse and the scent of a Strawberry Jolly Rancher. The tiny exfoliants massage rather than scratch. And my skin does indeed feel smoother. Just look at me Before:
