You know the sort of thing that almost doesn’t seem like a bad idea? This is it. These striped overalls are as attractive as striped overalls made from dress shirt materials could be, but they’re still not attractive enough to actually consider wearing. Worth a look though, if only for wondering how anyone would get away with wearing it. (Browns)

Please say it ain’t so! Okay, I know I don’t have to wear them, but just the idea conjures up visions that are very unflattering. It’s just that there are so……many beautiful and feminine looks around, that I hope that we don’t slip back into sloppiness which also includes the grunge thing. I’m aware that there are “earthy looks” and that some people prefer things are bit more “understated,” but my hope is that things will continue to be pretty, frilly and classy.

Overalls- the garment of choice for the hard-working man. Durable, rugged and functional, they act as attire for farmers, mechanics and even firemen during rough, dirty and often dangerous tasks. And though these people may arise at the crack of dawn, overalls guarantee a job well done sans exposed ass-crack. Lately, I have seen this one-piece wonder popping up in the most peculiar places, sitting next to me at lunch or shopping in the same aisle at Duane Reade. Overalls stood next to me at the bar last weekend and even sweat it out on the dance floor. The problem I see with this “fashion trend” is the laziness backing it up. Is it really that difficult to keep your pants pulled up enough to prevent indecent exposure? If this task is truly posing a serious problem, why not try the high-waited look or a nice vintage dress? Or if low-rise is more your thing, contraptions like belts and suspenders are great ways to accessories and stay covered. Yes, you may notice your local rancher looking fab strutting his stuff on the farm, but remember his functional garb has no place on the runway.
