Ivana Helsinki, designed by Paola Suhonen, isn’t just an art project. According to the designer, the independent art, fashion and cinema brand is a way of life. For the Spring/Summer 2012 line “Indian Summer,” Suhonen sent her models down the runway in vibrant tribal prints, black paint dripping from their hands onto the garments, shoes and floor. Sky-high ponytails made the whole display seem larger than life.

Color palette: Warm and vibrant reds, oranges and yellows with cool blue splashes
Mood: Romantic and eerie during the pre-show collection film; Excitement rose as paint splattered the runway
Statement Pieces: Feather tent finale dress with matching headdress
Front Row Name Drops: Sports reporter Lindsay McCormick
Gossip: Nothing too good, but a model couple had two cute dogs I complimented. They looked hungry and didn’t say much.
Runway Music: Cool tribal folk music
