Indies to Watch: Tanya Dziahileva
So, you’ve all probably been wondering who the twiggy, elfish, almost alien like blonde chick taking over runways and editorials everywhere is. Well, ladies and gentlemen, meet Tanya Dziahileva, the 17-year-old Ukrainian and Polish-Belarussian hot commodity.
I actually had the opportunity to meet Ms. D at the International Model and Talent Association in 2006. At that time, she was recently picked up by IMG models and her career was just beginning, a runway show here and an fashion ad there. But now, you can’t even touch the teenage top model. Ms. D has walked in over 100 shows, including the coveted position as opener for Rag & Bone and closer for Miss Sixty. From New York to Paris and Milan, Ms. D has modeled for nearly every top designer. And snagging a spot on the cover of Russian Vogue ain’t half bad for a girl who hasn’t even hit college yet.
She might look like Tinkerbell, but her youthful, edgy look has got designers everywhere craving more, more, more!

Trend Spark: Two-Toned Tights
The Vogue catwalk reports claim that Chanel’s Spring 2009 showing in Paris Fashion Week displayed “no major new trends born or big statements.” Really Vogue? I beg to differ! Check out those awesome two-toned tights! My plans for the weekend were actually to cut my own tights at the knee and layer them with a lighter-colored pair….but these look way classier! I also love the woven pattern aesthetic they give off! I couldn’t find a price estimate on this awesome leg candy, but judging by the $250 tag on older Chanel tights, I’d say be prepared to cough up at least $200. Looks like I’ll have to win the lottery sometime soon.
Thanks for the photos VOGUE!

Runway Rundown: Gaspard Yurkievich
The Gaspard Yurkievich show in Paris covered a ton of different innovative styles that when combined seemed to be the recipe for success. Knee highs, vibrant colors, sheer fabrics, and the ever so popular mix of greys were all spotted making their way down the pink and grey runway. Lets not forget about the amazing heels as well.
Thanks to A Shaded View Of Fashion for the images!

Boutique Critique: Colette 2.0
Colette, the Paris store which is the European inspiration for NY hubs like Opening Ceremony, just got a major makeover thanks to the handiwork of Japanese interior designer Masamichi Katayama, aka Wonderwall.
The store now looks completely new, a welcome change from a spot I couldn’t leave when Becks and I visited Paris in the Spring. The new spot has white walls with glass, steel and black leather, with tons of graphics to add flavor to the walls.
Can’t wait to see if we get any preview of the new store now that the Gap plans to open a pop-shop for the Parisian gem in NYC this fall. Oh, the Gap, how cool you are slowly becoming.
Thanks to WWD for having the cash to send photographers to the spot and for keying us in on the story.

John Galliano Proves Why He’s The Best
The master of couture John Galliano kicked off Haute Couture Week in Paris with a breathtaking Christian Dior show. Although Galliano rarely disappoints, its has been awhile since he’s produced a show of such beauty. Galliano indulged in what he does best-taking the roots of Dior, the ‘New Look’ silhouettes, and putting a subversive edge to it. Here are the highlights thanks to Catwalking:
