Edited by

Congrats to our favorite nightlife photographer Kirill Bichutsky of KirillWasHere for winning PaperMag‘s 2011 Best Nightlife Photographer Award!  Considered our next of kin at FashionIndie, it hasn’t been long since our days of sneaking into parties together (via the DJ) so we could booze for free and he could snap our friends in their most candid moments.

KirillWasHere And The Wicked Style Inspirations of NYC Nightlife

Edited by

If Kirill was there, then it was definitely the party of all parties! Aside from his bizarrely bad ass party and photography skills, it has come to our attention that there is some serious style going on through out these drunken wild affairs. Since I’m always on the look out, here are this week’s top 6 Kirill Party style photos (and yes, that is the one and only Drake)!

Kelly Bensimon in Harper’s Bazaar: “I am not crazy. I am unpredictable.”

Kelly Bensimon in Harpers Bazaar: “I am not crazy. I am unpredictable.”
Playboy model and Real Housewives cast member Kelly Bensimon had a big role in the Housewives franchise this season, playing the role of the woman who went postal on “Scary Island.” We’ve all seen the episodes, where Ramona, Bethenny and Sonia finally decide to leave Kelly alone after her so called “mental breakdown.” Call it acting, television editing or made-for-tv drama, the episode was the second best moment in Real Housewives history, with the first being the New Jersey girls going mafia on each other.

After the now famous “mental breakdown” episode aired, Kelly used the attention from media and fans to promote anti-bullying and safe sex and HIV/AIDS prevention.  Whatever you think of the stunning brunette Glamazon, one thing is for sure, she has a heart of gold. Kelly opens up in the August issue of Harper's Bazaar about the series, her experience on “Scary Island” and her charity work.

In the photo taken by Danielle Levitt, Kelly wears an Emilio Pucci dress and Manolo Blahnik shoes and makes a statement with boxing gloves, to tell others who want to pick on her to back off.   The August issue of Harper's Bazaar is already on newstands but you can also check out Kelly's interview at www.harpersbazaar.com/kellybensimon for the full story.

On the alleged breakdown on Real Housewives of New York City: “I am not crazy. I am unpredictable,” Bensimon says. And in case you were wondering, “I’m not in therapy.”

On the other Real Housewives of New York City: “Whether it’s my nail color, my hair color, or the shoes I’m wearing, everything about me bothers them.” “They want to go to the parties I go to, they want to hang out with me, they want to do the things that I’m doing.”

On moving forward: “I’m 42, and I have this new life,” she says. “Yes, I’m more mass market. And that’s okay. It’s my job.…I’ve worked so hard. It wasn’t always lollipops and unicorns.” “I tell my girls, ‘Your mom gets paid to engage in inappropriate behavior.’ It’s an amazing opportunity for them to see that being mean is not okay. I tell them, ‘If you’re in a situation like this, walk out. Don’t come back with jelly beans.’”

Andy Cohen on Kelly Bensimon’s alleged breakdown: “I think it was deeply disturbing. It seemed like she had a break of some kind, but I can’t say exactly what it was.” “She was not forced to go to Saint John by Bravo or the producers,” he says. “That’s untrue.”

The Swarm: Donwill

The Swarm: Donwill

You may know him as a hypnotic performer who rocks the crowd as well as he rocks the mic. Solo and with hip-hop trio Tanya Morgan. But did you know that he’s a love doctor too? In his debut column for the Swarm, the Cincinnati born expounds on love, lust and the power of the… We’ll leave it to you ladies to finish that sentence. See Donwill’s interesting take on men vs. women, below.

A well-done fling is, indeed, a beautiful thing… when done safely and in context, that is. And while it is largely believed to be a man’s thing to do, I think we need to reevaluate that just a bit. The real decision maker in this equation is the woman’s desire.

By no means am I an expert on the subject; while I have had my trysts they have been very few and far between. Besides, I’m not the ‘hollering at chicks’ kinda dude, I’m more deliberate in my advances, but that’s a whole other topic.

For the most part it’s universally understood that women control sex. ‘Game’ doesn’t really work because, for the most part, a woman knows if and when she will give you a shot. Chances are the game we think we are firing off is actually the equivalent of white noise to a woman who already has her mind made up. We can also say that if either party forces themselves upon the other then that’s rape, right? Well in considering this, it must also be considered that we don’t hear of too many men being raped by women. Don’t hold your breath waiting for some guy to cry foul if gang raped by a carload of sauced up gals. That guy will, however, call his homeboys and tell them what an awesome night he had.

I wrote a song about exploring the emotional state that goes into having a one-night stand. Basically, it speaks on the level of confusion that the parties involved may be feeling when they go about doing the deed. A lot of times it’s less about sexual fulfillment and more about having an instant bond with another person. I like to call it the 5-minute relationship. You go from strangers to dating in a few sentences, at drawl-dropping speeds all in hopes of feeling connected to a person for a few hours.

Sex has roots in just wanting a familiar feeling and that’s why most times two people don’t have sex until they are familiar. The funny thing about sexual fulfillment is that It can’t really be achieved unless you know a person in totality, and these instant relationships don’t provide the opportunity to really get to know a person. Sure, you can have an orgasm. But at the end of the day that isn’t really fulfillment, that’s just busting a nut.

Love is a very tricky thing. It’s a feeling that is definitely tangible but comes in many forms. For the purpose of this column, let’s just say that it’s a drug. And if Love is a drug, then a lot of times when you are out of love, you’re just looking for that next high. Following this line of reasoning, waking up the next day to that walk of shame is the equivalent of the high coming down. But when the high is on, there’s nothing like it…
