Editorial: All About Atlanta
Photographer: Mark Hunter (AKA The Cobrasnake)
Model: Atlanta de Cadenet Taylor
Magazine: Exit Magazine

After several collaborations from British photographer, Amanda de Cadenet, exit Magazine decided to nod their heads towards California and a younger member of the de Cadenet clan. In this set of photos taken by the party photography king of California himself, the barely legal (she’s my age) Rachel Bilson lookalike donned a variety of Wildfox Couture pieces in addition to some stunners from her own personal vintage collection. Atlanta comes from a powerhouse family; her parents being British photographer (and former BFF to Courtney Love), Amanda de Cadenet and Duran duran bassist, John Taylor. Her stepparents are also household names; Nick Valensi (guitarist of The Strokes) and Gela Nash (head designer of Juicy Couture). No stranger to the Los Angeles party scene, Atlanta has gained amassed online fame following appearances on several party blogs such as The Cobrasnake and Kid Paparazzi. In a way, in my opinion anyways, she has become the next Cory Kennedy (who is now, thankfully, old news). However, Atlanta owns her own money just like every other teen; she was handpicked to work in a Los Angeles Marc Jacobs boutique. Something tells me that this particular celebuspawn earns more than just her employee discount…

Another week of SPUN – check it out every Tuesday at THE FOUNDATION at 137 ESSEX STREET off Rivington – you have the opportunity to go behind the dj booth and learn how to dj for 15 minutes or if you are learning how to be a dj – try out your skills for 15 minutes. The party starts at 9pm and the open djing is from 10:00 – 11:30 every Tuesday night.  The party goes on after that. Bring friends and have fun – everything you need is provided.

Charles Thorp wrote an awesome review of the party and explains how it works here:

I am so excited because my friends have been coming to visit me on Tuesday to check the party out and my best friend, Kerri and her boyfriend Mark came out …. Here are some photos from the last two weeks’ parties of SPUN.

Last week, I was in Los Angeles flew out with my buddy, Josh, we were supposed to dj a party for my client, bobi and Keep A Child Alive but we arrived and unfortunately the sound system had some serious technical difficulties and there was no sound – so we both had our first silent dj set.  I knew what I wanted to play but I never got to play it. The funny part is that my friend, Brandon Barash, from General Hostipal was all set up to play the harmonica while I played ‘Janglin by one of my favorite bands – Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes but it never happened. My buddy Danny & David Roberts stopped by to support and Julie from PJ Salvage ( the most amazing pjs in the world) and my one of my favorite favs, Amanda Macnaughton ( from CultureJam).  Kara Lusardi, the designer of bobi, is brilliant – her clothes are just super wearable, well designed and great for traveling.  Here are some photos from the party. She raised over $5,000 in 2 hours selling samples for $20 each and all the money – all proceeds went to Keep A Child Alive – an organization where you see the results. They are making change happen and they are giving Africa and other third world countries a better future.  Leigh Blake is one of my heroes and everyone that works at KCA is awesome. I love talking to them and I wish I could do more with them.

The next day I met up with my buddy, Peter James Lee, we had some talks about life + then we chatted a bit about “how to incorporate new talent into the garment industry” meaning sewers, pattern makers etc… to learn more visit www.madeinmidtown.org

PJL is just an awesome dude – full of ideas, super creative, super fun, and a huge heart.  My friend, Josh, introduced me to him and I am very lucky to have them both in my life.
Check out his blog at – not only is he an amazing designer, creative direction, trend watcher, trend setter… he also takes amazing photos and just has an eye of wonder and coolness…. http://www.nycparislondonhktokyola.com

After that I was like Jen & Josh we gotta go to the Cobrasnake store… and so glad we did… I picked up some awesome books and we got to hang out with all the guys that make it happen including this awesome store/ gallery… I found myself a cool vest and picked up some books…. And we just hung out and chatted with the guys for a while.. so glad I popped by – if you don’t know about Cobrasnake – google … we are lucky to be in 2010 and to have talent like this surrounding us.

Speaking of talent, I encountered some really sad news last week when I opened my Sunday Styles to see the world and many people close to him, lost Tobias Wong.  He was a genius.  I was able to work with him during our time working with Felissimo and I knew from the day I met him he was a stand out artist/designer.  He had an eye and a mind that created just really smart items.  He always put a smile on my face and in his presence I always knew I was with someone brilliant.  The last time I saw him, I asked him about these matches he made using a play on the Chanel logo. I wanted to get some for my buddy, Josh for his birthday since he has a Chanel tattoo and has an admiration for Gabrielle Coco Chanel and Karl etc… and Tobias was so happy I asked about them and gave me a few – I remember I asked if they were signed and he was so sweet about the whole thing. I wanted to pay him and he said don’t worry about it… and he had such a big smile that day.  He was always so kind, so lovely, so interesting and just an awesome person. If you never saw Tobias Wong’s work at one of the many museum shops or at Felissimo etc you should google him.

What I took away from reading the article and feeling so bad for all the people that loved him was that you never know what is going to happen in life. We are all on a journey of life and we don’t have control over it sometime. I had some serious suprises this year and nothing is set in stone… but you just need to take each day as it comes… you need to enjoy life and enjoy the people who make you feel good … go after what you want…. Run instead of walking sometime…. Don’t be lazy… Voice your opinion try to make your dreams come true and love with all your heart.  Your heart will get broken sometime – it just happens but sometimes it doesn’t and it feels really great to love your family and your friends and to be loved back.

The other thing I learned is to support talent – don’t be afraid of it. If you have a talent or hobby – dedicate time to it.  Support your friends who have specific talents and encourage them to explore their skills.  And support TALENT… support the arts … dance, music, art, etc… all forms of it and when you find people who inspire you – embrace it and tell them.  I think Tobias knew I was wowed by his talent that day I saw him for the matchbooks – I hope so… I hope that every artist I notice that inspires me realizes that they inspired me. Art is all around us we need to embrace it and share it with others.

When I got back from Los Angeles, Robbie asked me to go check out his cousin,  Domenic’s band –substratus- at the THE CAKE SHOP on Sunday.  Check them out…  http://www.myspace.com/substratuspunk

I never went to THE CAKE SHOP before but it is really cute upstairs and as you walk down the stairs, there are lots of cool people who left there mark… see some photos as well as a great photo of the SUBSTRATUS by Robbie Bellon.

It is funny because I was a new wave /alternative / classic rock … with a little NKOTB and Bon Jovi girl growing up and now I love indie rock and a mix of global and electronic music… a very small part of me appreciates House music because of my times in Ibiza… I would say I have eclectic taste.. I have been to Heavy Metal shows but I never really loved them but I am gaining a bit of an appreciation in punk music… Substratus I would say is a punk band… and it is funny because on the way home from LA, Josh gave me a dvd of THE CLASH.  Mind you that THE CLASH were the coolest dressers ever… they made their own clothes… I watched the dvd and would rewind here and there to see some of their jump suits and painted shirts and jackets and just how they wore their clothes…I have on some of my trips to LA and abroad watched about 3 or 4 documentaries and films on PUNK music and I do have an appreciation for it now and I enjoy it.

After the show we walked by THE CARAVAN OF DREAMS… one of the yummiest restaurants in the city – check it out – so good !

Last night I winded up walking by this little mini gallery for “bike clothing” on Bowery – they have a Caravan in the back and just some really cool décor – the space has a great vibe and check it out if you are near Gemma or the John Varvatos store it is the other side of the street off Great Jones on Bowery.

Well Happy Fourth of July and I won’t be writing in possibly for a little bit because I am off to the Bread and Butter show in Berlin next week and to see some of the Mercedes Benz fashion shows and then going to Morrocco and Paris and Normandy.  I am very excited about my trip but definitely going to miss NYC and ice cream at Lulas. http://www.lulassweetapothecary.com/

Oh last thing!!! My father recently reminded me besides being my hero that he was a hero once for someone on their wedding day — he was driving and saw a car with a BRIDE stuck along the side of the road – and he pulled over and indeed the bride was going to be late to the wedding so he drove them…. the local newspapers covered the story … check it out ….

COCO CHANEL, FIGMENT, ETSY, ART, DJING, GOOD MOVIES, GOOD TIMES, I AM

This week was awesome – it flew by – the only bad part was I caught a mini cold – boo! I got stuck in the rain and I got a little under the

weather – all about tea and emergen – c and my friend told me I needed to do the whole gargle salt water thing to help my sore throat which

worked but eventually had to go to the doctors since we are way busy here at THINK PR …

If you ever wondered how the salt water helps the sore throat… here

you go…

http://www.ehow.com/how-does_4607558_gargling-salt-water-sore-throat_.html

So I went to see the movie about Coco & Igor …

See Coco + Igor… I love the styling + the interior design elements of this film. I love Gabrielle Coco Chanel.. I wish she was still alive. It would be my goal to meet her but since that can’t happen…. I just want to learn as much as possible about her and he style.

During the week I also … ate ice cream, watched Empire Records, met OO…

And then the next day I saw some friends who I haven’t seen in a while including my friend, Laura, and then I watched the end of the World Cup USA vs ENGLAND and then saw my buddy Lisa and hung out with her and her

kids… so much fun. I also witnessed the annual Hare Krishna Parade right near my apartment. The colors and the dancing were beautiful and for some reason I found this to be a true NYC melting pot experience of

cultures and religions coming together and enjoying the music and dancing.  It ended in Washington Square Park and people were still dancing and having FUN!

The next day I went to GOVERNERS ISLAND – you just go to Battery Park (near the Staten Island Ferry) and you pick it up – it is not even a ten min ferry ride and you are there and it is FREE… I went there to see

the FIGMENT art exhibition. It was a bit like “Burning Man” I expect but I saw some cool pieces… here are some photos. My personal favorite was the WISH TREE… it is amazing to see what was wished for – I want to be

a superhero, to be a mom, to be a princess… it was very special … my favorite was one said ROSE … my Grandmother’s name and my middle name.. it was like a mini sign.  I liked the fact that ETSY was there

because they were selling goods from new artists which was really smart- I hope it was successful for them.

On Tuesday we hosted our first LEARN HOW TO DJ PARTY called SPUN at THE

FOUNDATION – caravangirl.com hosted along with downtowndiaries.com — I

taught some people how to dj along with this really cool dj… Here is

the invite …

We will be having more of these dj parties and I am super excited.

I met these kids that just graduated from Marist – I have to say they had the best musical taste all night and I was so excited that they went to my alma mater.

And then I went to see an incredible film called I AM LOVE with someone who I admire so much, Waris Ahluwalia  – he is the founder of HOUSE OF

WARIS, an incredible jewelry collection sold at incredible stores likeColette and he has appeared in amazing films and he is just a creative genius. He is also so kind and nice and we didn’t get to talk at the

premiere but we spoke at the CFDA after party and he is just really incredible. Also, in the movie is Tilda Swinton, who is amazing and was perfectly cast for her role. If you can see this movie please go and see

it – the cinematography is incredible, it is filmed in ITALY, and the music and styling is incredible as well.  I loved every moment of this film.

After the film, I ventured finally to ABC KITCHEN – which was an incredible visual experience – it is a beautiful restaurant and the food is really great as well and the menu is exciting.  You should definitely check it out. I was able to catch up with a good friend, Jen and it was

a great night.

Next week I am in Los Angeles to dj this event for Keep A Child Alive

and Bobi with my buddy Josh Madden and I hear my buddy, Brandon Barash

might stop by and play the harmonica for me… this kid is another

genius – amazing actor, photographer, singer, harmonica player and

philanthropist and just a good guy.  I am very excited.

But tonight I go to Meatball in Lower East Side on Stanton / Allen for

some meatballs with my meatballs, Reshma & Robbie. Wish my name started

with a R too … maybe I will borrow my mom’s name for the night -

Yves Saint Laurent to Launch New Opium Fragrance Thursday; Teasing with Blog, Videos

YSL Opium. Photo: Yslbeautyus.com

It’s no exaggeration to say that Yves Saint Laurent’s Opium goes down in history as one of the most memorable fragrances ever, and the French couture label is looking to repeat the feat with its newest fragrance set to debut this Thursday at a star-studded launch party in New York City.

Over four years in the making and co-created by master perfumer Honorine Blanc, the new scent is rumored to be a “daughter” version of the famous Opium juice, and will be slowly introduced to the public by way of interactive daily blog updates with inspirational teases.

In the first video, behind-the-scenes glimpses of Blanc talking about and working on the fragrance are shown, and the way she finds inspiration for creating a best-selling fragrance revealed.

And in the second video, mesmerizing time lapse blooms of the jasmine, gardenia and Casablanca lily flowers used in the juice open before readers’ eyes.

Woody notes flirt with florals in the scent, with a touch of sweet fruits balanced by white pepper for an overall sophisticated yet sexy feel.

And if Thursday’s launch party is anything like Opium’s 1977 debut party — which entailed the renting of a fully decked-out Asian-inspired ship in New York’s South Street Seaport harbor and writer Truman Capote overseeing raucous festivities at the helm — we expect the party will be the place to be Thursday night if you’re a New York-bound celeb.

WATCH THE VIDEO:

According to Twitter, Alexa Chung and Alexandra Richards will be spinning, and rumored guests include hipsters like “The Cobrasnake” Mark Hunter and model Cory Kennedy.

We hear that today’s new blog post will sneak a peek at backstage preparations for the party, so non jet-setters can enjoy the excitement and style too.

Now if they can bottle up that kind of glamour in a fragrance, we’d be the first to buy.

Alex Geana: Corduroy Magazine Is Born (Photos)

Edited by

At Milk Studios last night, We Work and Corduroy held a launch Party, and the frenzy at the door was palpable. I was standing next to Richard Chai, and we were both calling our PR contacts to let us in. I couldn’t help teasing “You won menswear, but can’t get into this party.” I smirked slightly, he scoffed and we were ferried in.

I had to leave three friends at the door, not expecting the massive mob scene to see Sean Lennon and his model love Irina play (have I really turned into ‘that’ person?). Once upstairs I swirled around. Couldn’t work up the courage to say hi to the many cool kids in black micro-leather jackets. Happily chatted with Sophia Lamar and made my way out to join my abandoned friends.

At that point, the cops were converging on the mob scene outside and the line was around the block. If only I was younger and hadn’t been to four parties in a week.

Grabbing a copy of Corduroy and thumbing through, I fell in love with the matte pages full of fresh beauties and new talent. Check out some of the stunning work. Pick your favorite.

Lulu Frost + Erin Fetherston

Edited by

Lulu Frost jewelry designer Lisa Salzer, who creates one-of-a-kind pieces using antique keys, chains, hotel room numbers, vintage charms and more, created lovely crystal pieces for Erin Fetherston’s spring runway show. This is a match made in heaven for me, considering there are few things I love more than a strong statement necklace that only I have, or Fetherston’s signature floaty, ruffled party dresses. There were disco-ball earrings and crystal chains meant for a Studio-54-esque night of revelry. It’s a look that’s perfect for New Year’s Eve, I think. I especially like this Desperately Seeking Susan adornment:Lulu Frost + Erin Fetherston
