When and how did your line begin?

I launched my accessories line in the Fall of 2010 with a concept design of epaulets.  I created a small collection in different styles and they ended up in the hands of some fashion influentials. I’ve since introduced earrings, bangles and eyewear.

What inspires your work?

I watch a lot of nature documentaries. I’m in love with the beluga whale. I watch the same documentaries over and over.. I’ve seen the Blue Planet series over a hundred times and I now watch Microcosmos fanatically. Have you ever seen ladybugs make love? It’s a fascinating and a gentle experience.

Where do you finding the amazing leathers and animal skins that you use on your accessories?

I buy my leather at the same place that Helmut Lang, Diane Von Furstenberg and Oscar De La Renta buy from. Its expensive and the best in the city. Libra Leather. I work with Sam Jones, The Leather Queen. She has great taste and instincts when it comes to leather. Libra Leather has been pioneering leather trends in New York for decades. They provide the selection designers conceptualize their entire leather collection from. They are best in the biz.

The Feather Spray Earrings seem like a big deviation from some of your previous designs. What was the inspiration behind those?

When I launched my line in October 2009 I used feathers in the fabrication of many of those epaulet designs. The feather was lying on my desk at a certain angle and it came to me.. that should be attached to an ear. I guess it’s all the nature videos I watch.

What celebrities have you worked with?

I grew up in NYC so Mary J Blige, Lauryn Hill and Beyonce were the soundtrack of my life. I attended borderline ruff schools and their music was uplifting and their voices strong, I adored them. Now as an adult, this entire experience as a designer has been transcendental for me. I often can’t believe who I’ve turned out to be. Just three years ago I was the most unhappiest girl in the world. I’ve designed for all them. I’ve also created custom accessories for Lil Wayne’s and Prince’s musical tours.. I used to make out with posters of Prince. I’ve designed for Alicia Keys’ Freedom tour.  Lauryn Hill just bought my entire collection for her European tour.

What’s your favorite part about being a designer?

The actual design process is probably my favorite part of being a designer. I often struggle between concept and application.. I’ll think about a construction for months before I even attempt to piece it together.. My own thoughts intimidate me. There is an element of anxiety I experience and I know that I’ll figure it out eventually. There are some designs I’ve constructed, not many, that I will never share with the world. I hoard special pieces.

What are the biggest challenges as a designer?

Figuring out which tradeshows to do make me pretty dizzy.

Three must haves to have in your wardrobe?

Combat boots, a black fur and a balaclava.

What is your best moment that you’ve experienced in your career?

All of them have been extraordinary. Getting picked up by Nordstrom, a tour order from Alicia Keys, selling at Patricia Field and having my mom and dad say that they’re proud of me.

What advice do you have for aspiring designers?

Organize yourself. Have a decent website, take good pictures, get a press list, don’t get tired, get motivated.  Surround yourself with good people that want good for you.  Love yourself and visualize yourself in the place you want to be.

How would you describe your personal style?

My look changes drastically, often. Recently my style is Le Femme Nikita.. assassin chic.

What is the inspiration behind “in love and good fashion” and “good taste must be shared”?

I tend to curate everything. My friends, my wardrobe and words.. I love language and assembling words together.. In Love and Good Fashion fell into place in the first weeks of creating my first collection.. it represents the head set I was in at the time..

Good Taste Must Be Shared is a personal philosophy.. Good taste crosses over into all aspects of living.. food, clothing, jewelry, travel and all of earths spoils.. Everything that is good about anything should be shared and enjoyed.

What’s currently on your iPod?

I don’t have an Ipod but I have been listening to Amy Winehouse, Wu Tang Clan, Florence and The Machine and Lauryn Hill recently.

Describe Mary Had A little Scam and the other short films you are working on based on your line?

I decided to make a short film when the concepts in my head began to move and could only be expressed through video. I’ve watched enough documentaries and films to understand the shooting style I like.  I titled the film Mary Had  A Little Scam to represent the duality between innocence and  a calculated menace. I wanted to create a sexy film that captures the private moments strong women experience when alone.. the awkwardness, paranoia, struggle, uncertainty and ultimate perseverance.  The character Mary in the short film Mary Had A Little Scam has a public persona of  a fierce rebel leader with the American Accessories Coalition for Good Taste (AACGT). Her mission is to collect rare jewelry from around the world, sharing good taste with the masses.

What are you currently working on for your line right now?

I’m preparing a trip to Paris, meetings, meetings, meetings!

Where do you see Seville Michelle Anastos 5 years from now?

I’m excited for the future.  Nothing I’ve done has been planned, my line has swept me off my feet!

3. Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961) Though not necessarily a film about fashion, Breakfast at Tiffany's is the quintessential fashion film. Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly continues to teach and inspire girls and certain boys everywhere on how to be chic, how to be urbane and how to live fabulously in New York -- or at least how to pretend. And there has never been a more iconic Little Black Dress ever put on screen. See Also: Darling (1965) Darling's Diana Scott is the British, unapologetically wanton version of Holly Golightly. A morally-suspect fashion model who sleeps her way to the top, Diana still manages to come off as a naïve and sympathetic character -- despite exhibiting behavior to the contrary -- thanks to Julie Christie's Oscar-winning portrayal.

4. Unzipped (1995) Sure, there are other backstage, behind the curtain, beneath the bustle documentaries of fashion designers, but none are as stylish as Isaac Mizrahi's Unzipped. When Isaac was the new, young It designer on the block; when Naomi, Cindy, Christy and Linda ruled the catwalks; when Eartha Kitt was still alive and purring -- Unzipped documents the height of 90s fashion, right before the balloon went bust. See Also: Valentino: The Last Emperor (2008) Whereas Unzipped follows a designer in the earlier stages of his career, The Last Emperor observes a master -- Valentino Garavani -- as he takes his final bow with his partner of 50 years by his side, Giancarlo Giammetti.

5. Funny Face (1957) Audrey Hepburn makes a return to the list, but this time she is the unlikely model Jo Stockton, a bookworm with an unconventional look that inspires love in photographer Dick Avery, played by Fred Astaire. A fantastic set of photoshoots and gowns by Hubert de Givenchy are the main attractions, but Kay Thompson as salty editrix Maggie Prescott could give Miranda Priestly a run for her money. See Also: The Women (1939) Though Funny Face features a climactic runway show, The Women spared no expense in shooting its nearly 10-minute fashion show in color, despite the entire film being in black and white. Do not mistake this classic with that awful remake Diane English regurgitated a few years ago.

6. Mahogany (1975) Arguably Diana Ross's greatest cinematic achievement -- if only for this -- Mahogany chronicles the rise of supermodel Mahogany from the slums of Chicago to the runways of Paris and finally to international acclaim as a designer in her own right, only to give it all up for the man she loves...a move Ms. Ross would openly spit upon, but which she plays with considerable believability. See Also: Gia (1998) While Mahogany is a fictional supermodel who dabbles on the dark side, Gia Carangi was the real thing whose excesses eventually got the best of her. The film is best remembered, however, for launching Angelina Jolie to stardom, thus ensuring Jennifer Aniston's lifelong ire.

7. Clueless (1995) What can one say about Clueless? The perfect teen movie, it's infinitely quotable -- "You're just a virgin...who can't...DROIVE." -- and is there a character with as enviable a closet as Cher Horowitz? Bonus points for first introducing me and perhaps a majority of the world to Azzedine Alaïa. See Also: The 2nd Season of Gossip Girl (2008-2009) With the possible exception of Mean Girls, there hasn't come along a teen movie as smart or as witty as Clueless. But in terms of style, the second season of Gossip Girl rose to the challenge, making fashion icons of Blair Waldorf and Serena Vanderwoodsen, as well as their real-life counterparts, Leighton Meester and Blake Lively.

8. Blow-Up (1966) Michelangelo Antonioni captures the mod mood of 60s Swinging London as a hedonistic fashion photographer -- played by David Hemmings -- tries to figure out whether or not he accidentally snapped a murder. In the film's most famous scene, 6'1 supermodel Veruschka writhes around the set of a photoshoot as Hemmings makes love to her with his camera. See Also: La Dolce Vita (1960) If Blow-Up swings, La Dolce Vita sways. Federico Fellini's romantic portrait of Rome is as sleek and stylish as protagonist Marcello Rubini's suits.

The Devil Wears Prada (2006) It's a matter of public record that Lauren Weisberger's roman à clef was based on Anna Wintour -- who famously wore Prada to the film's opening -- but what the film accomplishes (okay, let's be real, what Meryl Streep accomplishes) is creating not only one of the greatest villains, but also one of the greatest fashion icons, in modern cinema. See Also: Sex and the City: The Movie (2008) A completely unnecessary production and by the loosest definitions an actual "movie," Sex and the City also benefited from Pat Field's brilliant styling. But unlike The Devil Wears Prada, there was no Oscar nomination for attiring Carrie and Co.

10.Zoolander (2001) Everything benefits from a parody -- rather, everything benefits from a good parody, Though Zoolander is far from perfect, it's a fun and funny romp through fashion's ridiculous playground; complete with walk-offs, an evil Galliano-esque designer in Jacobim Mugatu and the introduction of Blue Steel into the cultural lexicon. And lucky for us, there's a sequel in the works thus righting everything with the world. See Also: Brüno (2009) Taking off where Ben Stiller catwalked off, Sacha Baron Cohen's flamboyant character traipsed through America, spreading his questionably fashionable and gratuitously gay, booty-shorted self from sea to shining seaman.

Kirsten Dunst in Patrik Ervell — I feel like I’m experiencing a Kirsten Dunst renaissance. First she wins the top acting prize at Cannes, now I actually like her choice in red carpet attire? What goes on here? Though honestly, I’m always a sucker for a woman in a tux and a high bun.

Karolina Kurkova in Diane von Furstenberg — An emerald, hooded jumpsuit, sashed at the waist? Karolina literally looks like the ghost of Grace Jones…and she very well might be since god knows where the hell that brick house full of crazy is these days.

Chloë Sevigny in Chloë Sevigny for Opening Ceremony — Leather and lace and giving face. Nothing’s wrong with a little free self-promotion, though her lady humps seem to be angling for some attention all their own.

Betsey Johnson in Betsey Johnson — Why the hell not? Betsey looks great — and in all black! — but the tulle ballerina skirt remains in tact, if only a few inches south. But for girls our age, Bets, everything ends up heading south eventually.

Chanel Iman in BCBG Max Azria — Lady and the vamp! Looks like Chanel and Karolina both hopped on the same 70s soul train, but with a bit of leg, a flash of cleav and a shoulder or two, Chanel is ready to steam up some mirrored disco balls.

Call me crazy just as long as you call Michelle Harper perfect. I’m not sure what she’s wearing, but I want one in every color.

Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen in The Row — I’m convulsing over MK’s gold lamé jacket, I just wish Ash had chosen to accessorize a little more. Hair up, statement necklace and a cat eye never hurt anyone. The Row bags, while cute, also look like mini-briefcases, which for an evening dress, is a little jarring.

Vera Wang in Vera Wang – Vera, Vera, Vera. While I love a cowl neck, this look makes Morticia Addams look like Patricia Goddamn Field. Where’s the color? Where’s the fun? I would’ve taken a beading wedding gown over this funereal frump any day of the week.

Erin Fetherston in Erin Fetherston — The CFDAs might have to instill a ban on designers dressing themselves. Though the dress is lovely — and that bang is flawless — the color washes Erin out completely. Also, another lack of accessories! Does no one wear jewelry anymore?

Joy Bryant (and Rachel Roy) in Rachel Roy — For the permanent record, Rachel looks good, not her best look, but she gets a passing grade. Barely. Because after all, she also dressed Joy, who’s going to have to stay after school and bang the erasers. And from the looks of that dress, she might also be banging the janitor.

Tory Burch in Tory Burch — You can try to dress up a burlap sack as much as possible, but then it’s just a burlap sack with some awful polka dots and some even more awful ill-placed beads. Or bottlecaps. What are those actually?

Sessilee Lopez in Zac Posen — One question: why? An old lady dress on a stunning, young supermodel still looks like an old lady dress. And frankly, I doubt any dames of a certain age would be caught dead wearing this. It’s unflattering, there’s too much going on about the bodice and worst of all it looks cheap. Maybe the thought for U by Kotex is that when you, ya know, let your lady-blood out onto this thing, it’ll make pretty colors? Ew, what? Sorry I just said that. This whole topic is making me uncomfortable. In fact, that’s probably why Ms. Field is doing this at all.

Now go forth and design your own, if you so desire. Beautify a tampon case while you’re at it. If she likes your design, you could work with her and, erm, get them made. Every girl’s wildest dream – work with Patricia Field…. on a sanitary napkin. Though I suppose, if I would take and wear her lipstick, I’d do anything for her.

The fashion Industry was in uproar last week after John Galliano was dismissed as Creative Director from Christian Dior following numerous anti-Semitic allegations made against the designer. Galliano has denied all allegations made against him and claimed that he is of partial Jewish ancestry, although this has not been verified. The dismissal on 1^st March came immediately following the release of a video clip of the designer, who was unquestionably inebriated, stating, “I love Hitler”.

When I first heard the news and watched the video post that was made public over the World Wide Web, I was unsurprised by his behavior and by the reaction from Dior.

I was introduced to the designer after the 2009 Spring-Summer Haute Couture Dior show, in January 2009 and while he was polite, my lasting impressions of him were not favorable. I found him to have a thick and unattractive façade. It has long been known within the fashion industry that Galliano was prone to living a hedonistic lifestyle that resulted in drink and drug related addictions and although it seemed he had been clean for some time, there were rumors circulating that he had relapsed, partly due to the pressure of producing 12 collections a year. He was responsible for six collections for Dior, including the bi-annual Haute Couture, and six collections for his own label. Recent speculation that he had been increasingly less involved with the design process for Dior over the past few years was also starting to emerge.

Christian Dior is the largest holding company within LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy) the world’s leading luxury goods conglomerate. Billionaire financier, Bernard Arnault owns 48% of LVMH and in turn, the company, which creates billions of dollars in revenue every year, can easily afford to ensure video clips such as these never see the light of day. Yet, on this occasion, they chose not to.

The fact that Dior fired the designer so promptly, confirmed a personal prediction that the company had been looking for a way to let him go for some time due to repeated displays of inappropriate behavior. The leaked footage, which was not the first of its kind, was the final piece of evidence needed to terminate their chief designer without a pay off that would have been in the region of $25 million.

After all, Christian Dior was established as a couture house post World War II and was considered to represent a new beginning. Given this legacy, Galliano’s comments were as much anti-Dior as they were anti-Semitic.

While I accept that there are people in this world who, through lack of education or for their own reasons, are racially intolerant, Galliano’s words were inarguably appalling. However, given the encouragement from the amateur filmmaker, on this occasion, they may well have been for shock value. Galliano’s personality, like his work, is known for being theatrical and provocative. Even accepting this possibility, one can’t help but wonder what might have been behind his hateful comments. In the video, Galliano tells the woman, “You are ugly”. Since the designer does not possess model good looks himself, most viewers have inferred that his remarks were an attempt to cover his deep-rooted depression and insecurity.

More than the reason behind the tirade, I have been intrigued by the mixed reactions. Academy Award winning actress, Natalie Portman, who had an endorsement contract with Dior for its fragrance Miss Dior Chérie, made this statement, “I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano’s comments. I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect upon these prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful.”

Meanwhile, costume designer Patricia Field, defended Galliano’s tirade as being “misunderstood theatre.” While there are mixed opinions within the fashion elite, many insiders have refused to comment, other than to suggest, “It is a shame.” I was interested to pinpoint what precisely people felt was a shame. Is it the fact that he is no longer Creative Director of Dior? Or that he would make such remarks? A general consensus seemed to indicate that editors felt it was a shame this incident had tarred the fashion Industry while Karl Largerfeld stated, “It is a horrible image for fashion.”

While it clearly isn’t a positive reflection, I hardly feel that the general public looks upon the directors of the fashion world as saintly. For many outsiders, who have never met a designer in their life, the closest image they have to relate to, are the characters from ‘The Devil Wears Prada.’

Rather more, because of this attention, accounts of Galliano’s achievements have been highlighted in the media. Galliano’s design talents were noted at a young age, while he was still a student at Central Saint Martin’s College in London where he graduated with a first class honors degree. His first collection, inspired by the French Revolution, was bought by London boutique, Browns. Shortly after, he was able to start his own label. A few seasons later, he moved to Paris, where his talents were recognized by Anna Wintour and Andre Leon Talley. In 1995 he was appointed as the designer for Givenchy, also part of LVMH, and within two years, he replaced Gianfranco Ferre as the chief designer at Christian Dior. Many have cited his great attention to detail as playing a large factor in his success.

Galliano’s suspension came before he was able to complete work on the Dior Autumn/Winter 2011/2012 Collection. Consequently, the Paris Fashion Week show, held last Friday, was preceded by a formal announcement from Dior Chairman, Sidney Toledano, confirming the termination and apologizing on behalf of the company, for Galliano’s comments. Since the designer was not present, the final walk was taken by the Dior atelier, walking out to a standing ovation from the tearful audience.

Over the past few years, Dior has produced some incredible collections, notably in 2008 and 2009. Dresses that are timelessly chic and reminiscent of Dior’s famous New Look. This last collection could not have been more different. It was a tribute production, characteristically John Galliano, with the first model wearing a long cape and tall boots, looking distinctively like the designer himself. Could Galliano have known this would be his last collection for the label?

While I consider that a possibility, I do not share the view that many seem to have taken that this is the end of the road for him professionally. He has reportedly now checked into a rehabilitation facility in Phoenix, which will hopefully give him the opportunity to address his inner demons. This is exactly where he needs to be right now. Many in the fashion Industry may be fair weather friends, but there are equally as many who I am sure will be there to offer him the strength and encouragement that he so obviously needs.

While emotions are running high, many are speaking as if he has retired or worse, as if he has died. I would not be so quick to write him off. Audiences love a comeback and I have every faith that Galliano is capable of quite the encore.

As he faces trial from both Paris Police and from public opinion, reporters are already speculating as to who will take over as chief designer of Dior. One name being repeatedly mentioned is Riccardo Tisci, the current Creative Director at Givenchy. No doubt, this will be an extremely well considered decision. As it stands, LVMH stock has been strong for the past year and there has not been a noticeable decrease in value over the past week. If anything, stock value is more likely to be affected by the current rising price of oil than a changeover of staff. To put it succinctly, Dior was strong before Galliano and will continue to be, long after Galliano.

Jess – Faux fur bodybag from LF

1. My brand spankin’ new Macbook pro, that I would have died without. Frequented that AOL StyleList blogger’s haven with it on the regs.

2. Multiple sparkly Milani nail polish. I did my nails everywhere, painting over layers to change up the colors constantly. There was a rotating slew of colors that cycled through the bag this week.

3. Lipsticks: Illamasqua: The Box (rouge), YSL fucsia, Iman (Pat Field‘s) Jaguar

4. Business cards. Gave out about 75, received at least as many.
5. Several WWDs and Daily Front Rows. I do admit I love reading the Daily.
6. Tickets. Many. Some I’ve disposed of, some made it. Some standing, some seats. None actually with my name on it.
7. Various runs of show. Ones that have lingered in my bag: Timo Weiland, Anna Sui, Dennis Basso, Alexandre Herchcovitch.
8. ESSENTIAL: Blackberry. Can’t believe it took me this long to talk about it. Maybe because I’ve done so much damage on it that it actually just broke. Fashion Week broke my phone…. now…. iPhone?
9. Because that’s not an iPhone, that’s an iPod touch and it’s been keeping me cat walking myself from place to place.
10. Biggie camera. I spent 3 years, that’s 6 seasons in the PIT with this guy. Not this year. Now I just got to use it on celebs backstage, at presentations and the like.
11. WIRES. OMG. My bag was like a radio shack. Heaven forbid I should be without a charge.
12. Small purse. Vintage. Used it when I stashed the big lady mama at the after party coat checks.
13. Wallet. Duh.
14. Deck of cards? The last free gift to remain in this bag. They’re usually the first to go when I get home.
15. Voice recorder, which I ditched for my Blackberry video camera.
16. Pashmina – much lighter than a laptop case. I didn’t wear it, my MacBook did.
17. Vintage Korean flower cardi I wore yesterday. I took it off when the world got mild.
18. Urban Zen literature – got my reikis healed (?) in the AmEx Skybox. Still confused about the process, but I felt great after.
19. My handy dandy notebook. All of my show notes are in this little thing.
20. Napkin from Timo Weiland’s after party on which Paul Steiger (as in Walter‘s son) drew shoes for me. I’m going to the press sample sale today!

That is all that remains. I’m surprised I didn’t find at least 3 Frappacinos and a slew of Fijis, but I lightened my load as I went along.

Mac – Faux croc tote from 21Men

I used the camera to take amazing photos all over NYC this Fashion Week.The Coke Zero is used solely for caffeine purposes but Lord knows I dont need any empty calories. I have two pairs of sunglasses to switch up my eyewear but maintain my air of mystery. The Marc Jacobs ones were gifted to me by stylist Robert Verdi as was the Kenneth Cole cologne, Reaction (the scent is fresh and young).  Finally the latest copy of VMAN for the train and cab rides all over the city. And yes I still have the dollar that was in his mouth.

So, I nearly died last night when I was sat at a restaurant within eyeshot of Patricia Field. My heart palpitated with every glance, distracting me from my delectable Restaurant Week prix fixe feast. I mean, screw SJP, she created Carrie Bradshaw! I tried not to stare, but the electric red hair, the table of fabulous gays, I watched longingly until they got up to leave. And then I spotted it… tucked into the deep fold of her chair. A lipstick.

I switched into stealth mode: re-con mission. I snatched it up and tried to chase her down to give it back. But seven inch heels slowed me down just enough to miss her. She was already in a cab, on her way, I’m sure to someplace more fabulous than I’ll ever know.

And here I am, in possession of Patricia Field’s lipstick. It’s by Iman Cosmetics, and only because it’s Ms. Field, the tube had undergone a costume change, and now has a MAC cap.

The shade is Jaguar. Rawr.

As my civic duty to the gods of fashion, I feel I must do all in my power to reunite Patricia Field with her lipstick. I’ll deliver it personally.

PS- If I do get to return it to Her Majesty, I’m totally buying this color. Now that I’ve tried it, I need it in my life.

1. Sleeping with someone famous makes automatically you famous.

Not only is reality show whore Reichen Lehmkuhl who’s biggest claim to fame was basically kicking Lance Bass out of the closet but apparently Marc Jacobs ex Austin considers herself a celebrity worthy of being a main character in a reality show.

2. When in doubt, take your shirt off.

Last night’s premiere was not short on gratuitous nudity. I’m pretty sure that every 3-4 minutes I was looking at someone’s naked torso. (Not that anyone minded.)

3. You don’t need to sing to be a lead in a musical.

Reichen shows every young performer that you don’t need to be good at  singing, dancing or even acting to star in an Off Broadway production.

4. If you six pack isn’t ripped you must be fat.

Austin is a “model” who’s looking forward to make it big again. (Wait did he make it big before?) Everyone on the show thinks he’s giving Precious a run for her money every though you can definitely see what appears to be a decent six pack on him.

5. Mike Ruiz doesn’t think we’re important.

Mike Ruiz takes Reichen’s boy toy Rodiney to the Particia Field after party for Sex And The City 2 screening and iit just so happens the the Fashion Indie crew and I were also at the party. Unfortunately we were not “A-List” enough to grab any screen time. (Bastards!)

6.  If you’re gay in NYC then you must work in fashion.

Well let’s just say that I didn’t need to watch the show to know this but this show makes it seems as if all homos do in the city revolves around the fashion world. This isn’t true at all we are also cops, soldiers, construction workers, cowboys, Native Americans, and bikers. (Wait what?)

7. Minorities are not allowed on the A-List

Besides mini-characters such as the agent, personal trainer, and a sugar daddy this show is lacking some serious color. I thought gays came in all colors of the rainbow.

8. Every gay man is a Jack Jill of all trades

Gays are very complex individuals which means that the roles they play are plentiful. Every good mo should have at least 5 slashes in his title to make him important. For example I am a Editor/Stylist/Actor/Dancer/Socialite/On Air Personality.

9. “Delicious” is the code word.

Ryan & T.J enlightened all our world by adding another word into gay lexicon. Delicious (Adj.) – Used to describe something that is awful but concealing your true mean. EX: Reichen’s singing is delicious.

10. Logo finally has a hit on it’s hands.

Logo has been around for longer than most people think and it’s most popular show to date has been RuPaul’s Drag Race besides the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reruns. Gays are rejoicing because they have something salacious to watch after viewing  Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta

NY Mag has the breakdown of the outfits from the SATC 2 trailer, stating that there are more Louboutin appearances than necessary!

We already know that in the the opening clip Carrie is wearing limited edition Mykita & Bernhard Willhelm sunglasses ($525 @ Patricia Field.) Her white dress is Halston and the necklace is Solange Azagury-Partridge, and costs almost $200k.

The shoes are Louboutin and the clutch is Chanel. Big is treating Carrie very well!
In the clip taking place in front of Bergdorf Goodman, we have Samantha with a VBH bag ($1300) and black Ray Bans. Miranda is wearing YSL Tribute heels. Charlotte is in head-to-toe pink Dior (including the bag) but not the shoes. Those are Loubs.

A bit less glam (I couldn’t find rhinestones anywhere), and a bit more flashy, but I think I did this design justice.  Here’s the steps to recreate my weekend project!

MATERIALS:

-A lightweight chain, about a half in thick(I got this one from Rebecca, but St. Marks or Chinatown is great for them)

-A pair of sunglasses, these were $6 in St. Marks. It works best to have glasses with a flat top, so that you can glue the chain in a straight line.

-Super glue, you can get this at any drugstore and it’s only about $3

STEPS:

Disclaimer: This project is NOT easy. Be SUPER careful to not get superglue on your hands, or on the lenses (I learned this the hard way, nail polish remover can take it off).  If I were to do this project again, I’d suggest putting tape over the lenses just to be sure you don’t glue them.

1. Put a thin layer of superglue on the top of the glasses, where you will be gluing the chain, this way the chain can bond to the glue, as opposed to the very difficult feat of gluing it to the smooth plastic

(you are now the first witness to the mess I created while trying to make these…)

2. Start to glue the chain links together, where they would naturally fall. I glued 5 together to begin to form a straight line, this also makes it a lot easier to control individually glueing the rest of the links on.

3. Once you have a few links together, glue your section to the middle of the glasses. When the chain is laying flat there are small oval-shaped flat sections, you want to put the glue on each of these sections and hold the chain to the glasses until it completely dries (around 30 seconds).

4. Begin to individually glue on the rest of the links.  Continue to glue using the flat parts of the links, and if they are not staying secure, try continuing to glue the links together.

5. Continue to glue each link until you reach the edge of the glasses. It’s really important that each link is completely dry before you move onto the next one, or else they’ll just fall off and you’ll have to start over, and let me tell you, that’s really frustrating.

6. Let your glasses sit overnight before you wear them, even though they seem completely dry, you want to make sure nothing will fall off before you debut them. And if you aren’t confident enough to wear these super-flashy glasses on your face, try wearing them as a necklace:

Amber Rose was pictures in Paris months ago wearing Chanel chain sunglasses, and after scouring Ebay I found them!  They’re vintage, so they’ve been around long before Kerin Rose or Fashion Indie’s DIY project, but are currently bid at over $850, so this is an even further lust for our readers. Another Update: These glasses were originally around years ago by Mercura, which I’ve found out through chains and chains of emails. Here’s their site, and if there are any other designers that claim this is their design, talk to each other, not me. I’m not a designer, just an arts and crafts kid.

They say patience is a virtue, but will you hate me if I pray for a coldfront so I can wear these gloves?! For just $48, these genuine leather half-gloves are an absolute steal are a definate rocker boost to any look. Now Patricia, how about some studs, huh?

Carrie Bradshaw as a recessionista? Sarah Jessica Parker seems to think its a good idea for the sequel, and i agree: it would be nice to see her live off the salary her one sex column would provide her with in real life. And no one can argue the timeliness of the idea, except apparently Patricia Field. Field said, “I don’t use the recession as a reference for my creativity” and is threatening not to style a recession-friendly version of Miss Bradshaw. I’m not a fan of the sequel in the first place, and losing Patricia Field certainly isn’t making me any more excited.

Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton are celebrating the late Stephen Sprouse by reintroducing his line of handbags. Collection is set to hit with the launch of a dedication site, welovesprouse.com which will feature interviews with Debbie Harry, Candy Pratts Price and Patricia Fields, all friends of the late artist.

“It almost becomes a classic, like a Chanel jacket, or a smoking,” said Marc Jacobs of the artists use of graffiti and day-glo. “It’s this idea of a head-to-toe look in this brash, neon, rock ’n’ roll, edgy, street-informed style. Sprouse really best personified it.”

This winter’s Payless designers holiday collections include shoes from Patricia Field, Lela Rose and Abaeté.  The Patricia Field ones look like the only shoes I’d get close enough to inspect.  The other ones are a little blah to me…

Patricia Field for Marks & Spencer just hit stores in the UK and online.

Of course, it’s hard not to see Carrie Bradshaw in the “Destination Style New York” collection. I only wish the accessories were a little more special.

I keep seeing images of Selma Blair and Molly Shannon from their new series Kath & Kim.  I’ve never found Selma Blair interesting, but I was excited when I heard Patricia Field was doing wardrobe for a new show — until I saw the pictures. I haven’t seen it or its British counterpart, nor do I plan to.  

I get it, they’re dysfunctional, quirky, zany, kooky, suburban, etc.  

Generally I LOVE British comedies.  But this seems like Absolutely Fabulous all over again.  I tried to like the show.  Really.  I’m sure someone will freak out when they read this.  I’ll give it another chance, though; it’s been a few years.  Maybe I was too young to “get” it.  But I remember the clothes.  I guess I can get all the skanky irony and humor of wearing such outfits.  But … I just can’t get behind this.  It’s all a little played out, and I prefer creativity over kitschy.  

P.S.  Did Kath & Kim even make it past its first episode?

Patricia Field finally admits what we’ve always suspected about styling: it’s bullshit.

“It’s easy, it pays well and you don’t have to worry about inventory [as you do when running a store]. For me, it was like a windfall, because in retail you have to work very long hours and often don’t make much money. But [with styling] they’re paying you all this money to put clothes on a few people. I was like, wow!”

Patricia Field, designer for “Sex and the City”, created a line for the Home Shopping Network that is pathetic on so many levels. Allow me to enlighten you:

1) These clothes are god awful. Red metallic pants? A tea dress made from your grandma’s old moo-moo? A shirt that has more shoes than you do? A shimmery rose top missing a sleeve? A little black dress decorated (or should I say dilapidated) by a hideous silver and gold tropical flower? Come on Patricia Field, you design for TV’s sex goddesses…none of your customers will get laid wearing these ugly things.

2) If you buy any item from the Patricia Field collection, you will get a free subscription to Vogue Magazine. Is Vogue really that desperate for readers that they will go as far as giving away free subscriptions to women who probably have never heard of the magazine? I’d buy the horrid metallic leggings just for the free subscription!

3) This one has got to be my ultimate favorite. Yes, you can pay for the Patricia Field collection through installments! Are you really dying to buy the ugly $29.90 turquoise pleated scarf? Only work 2 hours each week cleaning bathrooms at rest-stops? Not to worry! Three payments of $9.97 and the unsightly scarf is all yours! Yes, and you still get the Vogue subscription! But don’t get too excited…the shipping and handling fee of $6.21 is all due with the first payment. Looks like you’re going to have to skip out on the Starbucks for a few days!

As the movie and the latest Payless collection launch this week, Patricia Field tells all.

Your new Payless shoes are very shiny…
I love metallics because they’re neutral and go with everything.  It’s disguised as a novelty, but really, it’s a classic.  To me, it’s like leopard print, it’s classic, it never goes away.

Which shoe is your favorite?
I’m always wearing the pump.  You put it on with jeans, you go out, you’re dressed… and they’re comfortable!  Because once you put on a shoe and it kills you, that shoe has a new home and that’s in your closet.

Does travel inspire your work?
My newest collection of boots for Fall were very inspired by Tokyo.  In Tokyo, the girls wear shorts with legwear underneath them, and boots.  It’s amazing!  And I just came back from Australia… I think Australia is like America’s younger sister.  It’s got the same parentage, but it’s so much more laid back.

How does having a boutique influence your work as a stylist?
I never think of myself as a designer.  I went to work for a department store – I was always in it for the business… what I wanted was to be independent… you know, I meet designers and their heads are in the clouds!  My first thought is the sale…  the truth is in retail, the customer either puts the money on the counter, or not.  That keeps you real.  There’s room for a lot of fluff in high fashion ads and styling and movie making but it’s all bullshit.  The truth is in the sale.

Do you think you empowered women with your Sex and the City outfits?
I always felt powerful.  I didn’t think I couldn’t stand up to anyone, it’s just the way I was raised.  So I injected that power into those girls.  They were free to express themselves through clothes.  In that way, a woman is freer than a man!  Whatever your strength is, use it.  Why not use everything you have to forge your life?  So dressing the Sex and the City cast came natural to me, in that way.

Do you regret any wardrobe choices on the girls?
Sure, some things I love, and then I see it later on TV and I’m like, Oh no!

More SATC dish!
Sarah had a vintage studded belt she really liked, she named it Roger… and she would always say, “Pat, get me Roger!”  And I was like, “Carrie Bradshaw can’t wear the same belt with every outfit!”  But I think belts are going to keep being very big.  I like what a belt does to the shape of a woman.  It’s like, okay  girls, pull it in!
