Gap Minds Its Sales Gap

The company’s chairman and CEO Glenn Murphy outlined some initiatives to get the Gap back on track, such as downsizing on their number of stores, striking a better balance between Gap and its “value channel” (read: cheaper, less attractive sister) Old Navy and nearly doubling the number of global franchises by 2014 or sooner ( including the inevitable expansion into China).

I’m assuming finding a new designer fits into that grand scheme somewhere… [WWD]

- Agyness Deyn is the latest model to turn actress with her debut role as a stripper — a classic choice — in director Louis Prieto‘s remake of cult favorite Pusher. Deyn was cast based on her “impressive audition” and not on her ability to do this. [Vogue UK]

- That Sarah Burton and that Duchess of Cambridge are some tricky broads. To keep the Royal Wedding dress a secret, Burton told the dress’s lace makers and her team of seamstresses that they were working on a costume for a period film, while senior members of the Alexander McQueen design team were simply told to lie their fascinators off. I just received my tester of Stay, and it smells divine! The fragrance is very fresh, perfect for summer, with just the right amount of sweet. You can easily smell the florals, yet they are delicate and not at all overpowering. Love this new fragrance.

Stay will be available in two sizes: 10ml ($8.50) and 50ml ($25) and will be available in Gap stores week of April 25th.

Sorry, Patrick Robinson — I’m not really feeling the color schemes in the S/S 2009 GAP ad campaign.

Good job on the ethnic diversity, but the ads are a little busy — and it’s traditional GAP spring, with the colors, khakis, and denim.

The Mikael Jansson-shot ads feature familiar faces like Sasha Pivovarova and Jessica Stam.

Well, NY Daily News has named Anna Wintour #1 on it’s Fashion’s 50 most powerful list AS IF any of you were thinking it was Tyra Banks and her lace front wig.  I just think with all that power and strength she wields,  couldn’t she threaten some stylist life to give her a new do?  I mean that bob is sooooo dead,  crows are starting to peck at it, now it’s got the rigormortis.  She also needs a personality coach for that cunty, crabcake disposition……….and some nourishment for them brittle bones.  How in the British Invasioned Hail did a crumpet poppin’,  tea sipper become the ruler in American fashiondom?
There are more dictators and creative oppressive figures…………it’s like a to-do list for a fashion purist with a high powered assassins rifle and free time!
