RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Paul Smith Fall 2009 Collection

RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Paul Smith Fall 2009 Collection

Holy shit Paul Smith is a f*cking legend! The man is absolutely incredible simply in the way he is able to stack pattern, on top of pattern, on top of pattern, and on top of all of it he throws in bright and vibrant colors too. He manages to blow my mind every time, and I have a strange feeling that a good handful of these pieces will find their way to a little someone called Chuck Bass. I can’t even say enough good things about this collection. Enjoy all you fashion mavens!

Colab Ho: Paul Smith x Lomography

Paul Smith linked up with Lomography to produce the new Lomo Fisheye 2 camera with the trademark Paul Smith striped print on it. The camera is really cool and old school looking. The camera retails for a mere $150. I don’t know why there were so many cool cameras out today, but I feel the need to post them all!

Thanks to Acquire for the image

Men's Style #10: Clear Sunglasses (Paul Smith $315)

Mens Styles Sixteen Essentials For Fall That Arent So Essential

Fashion Indie Recommends: Skip clear and definitely skip wayfarers. Go with something a bit cooler and more subtle for Fall. (Karen Walker $170 via Gargyle)

Men’s Style released their 16 essentials for Fall, well I have decided to put my two cents in and chose ten of their items that I think suck. Their options are too safe, too old man, and just plain old boring. Not only am I going to give you some damn good alternatives, I’ll tell you where to get them and save you some cash too. All the links to buy the items are at the bottom.

Runway Rundown: Paul Smith

Edited by

Despite his strength existing mostly in the menswear department, Paul Smith’s Spring 2009 collection for women was probably one of his most coherent yet! Gathering inspiration from an exhibition of British Orientalist art, Smith experimented with voluminous cotton pants and dresses, floral silk chiffon prints and layered petticoats. As an experienced menswear designer, the tailoring of Smith’s coats, jackets and pants was impeccable. Maybe womenswear is your forte after all!

Thanks STYLE!

TrendSpark: Monochrome

Great article in WWD about the newest (well heard about it for some time, but now it’s official) trendspark for fall: monochromatic looks from heard to toe.

“Come Fall, designers like Maurizio Pecoraro are advocating a monochrome vision that extends from head to stockinged toe. “My idea was to create a pure look,” explains Pecoraro, who conjured his eighties-era memories of singly hued looks from Claude Montana. The cherry on top of this ultra-matched look is tights, particularly in hard-to-find hues like persimmon at Bottega Veneta, ocher at Nina Ricci, and burgundy at Albino. (Stow the matte black Wolfords for next season.) Knee boots created a similar effect at Akris and Halston, but hosiery’s hegemony is undeniable. Even pattern-loving designers like Anna Sui and Paul Smith ordered up custom leg wear for complete coordination.”
