PETA has these snarky comments for their Grinches:

“Filmmaker and former visionary Cameron Crowe went retro in the wrong way for his new flick, We Bought a Zoo, which relied on the performing-animal industry—in which the “actors” are routinely neglected and even abused—instead of using state-of-the-art computer imaging. Exploiting live animals to tell a story about saving animals? At least Elizabethtown won’t go down as his worst creative flop.”

“Some have speculated that Kim Kardashian’s wedding to NBA forward Kris Humphries was fake. Too bad the socialite princess doesn’t have the same enthusiasm for faking her fur. Unlike her sweet sister Khloe, who starred in her own PETA anti-fur ad, Kim just can’t seem to divorce herself from fur and say ‘I do’ to a kind and kompassionate wardrobe.”

“When Janet Jackson had her infamous “wardrobe malfunction” during the Super Bowl, at least the flesh that popped into view was her own—unlike the stolen animal skins that she drapes herself with, which are as dead as her taste in fashion (not to mention her career). Ms. Jackson, you’re just plain nasty.”

PETA’s outrage over Janet stems from her Blackglama‘s “What Becomes a Legend Most?” campaign, which has featured a host of other legendary ladies including Diana Ross, Audrey Hepburn, Lucille Ball, Lena Horne, Barbra Streisand, Judy Garland, Elizabeth Taylor and Bette Davis. Now I can abide by ridiculing Kim Kardashian. In fact, I even fully support it. As for Cameron Crowe, so sue the guy for wanting to use real animals — that’s not to say they weren’t treated humanely on set. Plus, how bad could he possibly be? He did Almost Famous (and almost convinced the world Kate Hudson could act).

But you don’t just go around insulting divas like that. Sure she may have flashed a few hundred million people. Sure she hasn’t had a hit in god knows how long. Sure, she’s been relegated to starring in Tyler Perry movies and Nutrisystem commercials. But what about the good times? What about the parade of hits and classics over the past 25 years? And more importantly, what about her hot billionaire boyfriend who probably keeps her up to her wigs in all the stolen animal skins she wants?

It’s time someone stood up to people like PETA, which makes me proud to announce the formation of my new charity, PETD (pronounced: petted) — People for the Ethical Treatment of Divas. Divas are not ours to eat, wear, or experiment on — just to use for entertainment and in drag shows.

All the girls at the party, look at that body of work – the line is comprised of 15 pieces ranging from coats, jackets, vests, scarves, gloves and other accessories.

It’s out now, available in the Fur Salon of select Saks Fifth Avenue, and Maximilian Fur Salon at select Bloomingdales.

Sure, the tanuki — the Japanese name for a raccoon dog –  is a real animal that is skinned alive for its fur; unarguably an awful and inhumane practice. But Mario is a fictional character. And he doesn’t actually kill any tanukis to gain his flying abilities — if my memory of Super Mario Bros. 3 serves me correctly, there’s a feather involved — so PETA’s argument that the little Italian plumber is “sending a message that it’s ok to wear fur” is,  like most things PETA does, complete and utter bullshit.

But, never ones to let logic get in the way, the lovely folks at PETA took time out of their busy paint-throwing schedules to concoct this little game in which you play a tanuki chasing after a flying Mario, dripping with blood from his ill-gotten fur. Kudos to those belligerent tree-huggers for bringing to light the plight of the tanuki, but their argument against Mario is as facile as claiming the game reinforces stereotypes of Italian-Americans or promotes drug use.

Okay, the drug use thing might have a ring of truth to it, considering that Mario and Luigi dig up more mushrooms than small-town Deadheads…but I digress. [Buzzfeed]

More than 200 fashion leaders in Norway are rallying behind the cause. Save the critters!

Oslo Fashion Week in Norway will look a little different this February. Men and women will be unashamedly fur-less.

Forest creatures and animal lovers can thank a group called Mote Mot Pels (Fashion Against Fur) for the pelt prohibition. The fur-loving group won the support of fashion giants like Norwegian Elle, Norwegian Cosmopolitan and designers Leila Hafzi and Thomas Ryen to cap their victory.

Well done, Norway. You’re like the Ace Ventura of world countries.

1. Wear more fur. I want to be on PETA‘s “Most Wanted List” in 2011. Hell, I’d kill a family of chinchillas, skin them and wear them if I could. Nature is going to shit anyway, so why not put those endangered species to good use? Drape me from head to stiletto in fur and if possible, blood diamonds — I will single-handedly ruin what’s left of this world.

2. No more jeggings. This is a hard one. I officially own more pairs of jeggings than I do of actual jeans, but the trend is already becoming horribly outdated. Still, on a bloated day, there’s nothing more comfortable than breathable cotton. Except maybe breathable cotton and a pint of Mint Chocolate Chip iced cream. I mean, you’re already bloated, might as well go down with the ship.

3. Find shoes that actually fit me. Yesterday I found a bit of blood in my socks from my combat boots digging unmercifully into my heels. And my pinky toe is all but dead from being constantly wedged into vintage shoes. But sometimes you have to pounce on a Cuban heel and suck it up for the sake of fashion.

4. Learn to tie a bowtie. Right now I only (sadly) have one bowtie, a clip on chambray from American Apparel. However, it behooves a gentleman to know how to properly affix a bowtie. That, and to mix a proper cocktail and to properly kiss another man with tongue.

5. Rely less on H&M. Gaga knows I love those damned Swedes. The majority of my wardrobe derives from Hennes and Mauritz, but as my style and tastes develop, I will inevitably have to stray from the flock. However, if they continue with their all-star collaborations, I might have to throw this resolution under the bus, much like the year I decided to “cut back on drinking.”

6. Bring back the ascot. This has been a resolution of mine since I was about 14 and why not?, it’s a perfectly reasonable neck accessory that doesn’t at all remind people of hapless, blond, teenaged snoops.  Over the years, I’ve periodically worn ascots to varying degrees of success. Once, I wore it on a job interview and I like to think it had nothing to do with my not receiving a callback.

7. Get photographed by The Sartorialist. This is partly just me stroking my own vanity. Okay, it’s completely just me stroking my own vanity, but dammit, do you think I’m walking around in capes, sequins and harem pants for fun?! Okay, I totally am, but I would at least like it documented for posterity’s sake.

8. Find a practically-sized day bag. When traipsing about New York, I like to be prepared for any and everything, thus I carry a man purse that would put Mary Poppins’ magical carpet bag to shame. More than once have I pulled out a coat rack from the depths of my tote, but no longer! I’m actually contemplating a stylish backpack (suggestions, anyone?), or a medium-sized tote for my everyday travels. And that’s what I like to call “progress.”

9. Find a good tailor. A good tailor is absolutely essential — not just to let out one’s clothing after gorging on holiday fare, though that in itself is god’s work — but sometimes the perfect pair of pants can be a bit too big or a bit too short. Enter a tailor and for a few bucks, those Cheap Mondays look a little less cheap.

10. Shop more. The bottom-line to all this resolving and promise-making is that I need to step up my shopping game. That means I’ve got to throw around more plastic than an Ultimate Frisbee championship, roll out more dough than a pizzeria and carry more bags than Oprah‘s eyes.

It’s a tough job, but in order to truly make a change in 2011, it’s necessary.

PLEASE, no one tell PETA about the mounds of fur heaped in my apartment. I don’t wear them. I just like to climb on top of them for naps.

In addition to PETA’s Facebook coup, the group protested outside Donna Karan‘s New York offices. According to one PETA member, they “hope[d] to reach new audiences who may not yet know about the cruelty that goes into every piece of fur used in her line.”

False reports state that Kanye West crashed a PETA fundraiser today dressed as a mountain lion. West jumped atop a banquet table and sunk his teeth into an 87-year-old woman before spotting Lady Gaga’s meat dress.

With a single cat-like pounce, the rapper was on the pop star, chewing her sirloin skirt like a dog toy.

Soon naked, Gaga ran away holding her privates as West collected fallen meat scraps for a barbecue.

Think all vegetarians are scrawny, pasty, mousy types? PETA is about to prove you way wrong!

The critter-friendly organization has named actress Olivia Wilde the Sexiest Vegetarian of 2010.

“Animal lover and activist Olivia Wilde proves that being vegan helps one shine from the inside out,” PETA writes on its Web site.

“She has saved lives on Fox’s hit show ‘House‘ and has saved the lives of animals off-screen by choosing a vegan diet. Going vegan saves the lives of about 100 animals a year!”

The va-va-vegan explains on her Web site that she adopted the lifestyle mainly because she wanted to boycott torture factories, and adds, “I am also way happier when I eat a plant-based diet, and I feel about a thousand times more energetic.”

Of being named this year’s Sexiest Vegetarian — alongside “The Biggest Loser” trainer Bob Harper (“a dude who disproves the silly lie that vegans cant be strong” says Wilde) — the beauty, who appears in the upcoming “Tron: Legacy” and next year’s sci-fi fantasy “Cowboys & Aliens,” writes, “I am really honored, and very inspired to continue living the vegan lifestyle that has been so good to my body, my animal friends, and the world we live in. So thank you, PETA, and thanks to all who voted for me!”

Leave it to PETA to get in heat with the White House. Their latest ad which features the slogan, “Fur-free and Fabulous!” includes an unauthorized photo of Michelle Obama. She stands with other fur-less wonders including Carrie Underwood, Oprah and Tyra.

My only question is why Carrie? It seems as if they really could have gone with a “powerful women of color” thing here. Carrie just takes the whole thing back to Texas. Are there no other famous black women who’ve gone fur free? Or did they feel they needed a splash of ‘casian to keep the leaf eaters happy?

Apparently Pink recently got a little annoyed by Kanye’s affinity for wearing fur.  She sat near him at the Stella McCartney show in January, and noted…

“The entire time Kanye was going, ‘They need more fur in this show.’ He just wouldn’t shut up about how much he loved fur. I mean, he’s saying this to me, the PETA guy and Paul McCartney!

We here at F.I. barely have any idea what fooseball is or whatever they call it, but when PETA starts actin’ a malnourished, grass eatin fool, we take notice! Everyone knows what an idiot Michael Vick made of himself when he destroyed his career by getting caught up in a dog fighting ring. However, did you know that those flyin whore monkeys over at PETA wrote every single major league football team, petitioning them not to sign him when he was released from jail? If that ain’t the cock block to end ‘em all and spoil a wet dream! I mean it’s one thing to douse a fur wearer with pigs blood, that’s just clean, wholesome fun but it’s another thing to diddle with a brotha’s paycheck? Brokeness (not an actual word) has never been fashionable.

Now I know in the past that I’ve expressed hate for PETA and the possibility of dousing them in used cooking oil from KFC and settin’ them on fire for a 4th of July light show that would kill *pun* but c’mon! They’re so full of it, they’d take out a family of 6 in a mini-van to save a rabid stray crossing the freeway, clutching a new born in it’s mouth. Those sphincter pirating slut bags! Look, I don’t like the whole dog fighting thing either and I believe he should’ve gone to jail too but he’s paid his debt to society so you people need to chill out and go eat a steak or somethin. Hundreds were nominated and thousands voted in the 2009 Sexiest Vegetarian Next Door contest. More than 200,000 people logged on and voted for  their top picks, which were narrowed down to 32  finalists with two lucky winners.  In the end, Amber and Monty came out on top, they are this years hottest vegetarians.

 A vegetarian for about 50 years, Cloris Leachman is the latest celebrity to pose for a PETA campaign. 

She seems like a random choice, but the 82-year-old looks great in a gown made of lettuce and red cabbage.

It’s only March, but PETA has released a new Worst-Dressed list for 2009. Madonna took top honors, with the animal rights folks warning her that “wearing fur doesn’t make you a cougar.”

Other honorees include Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Kanye West, and Ekizabeth Hurley, all for consistently wearing fur.

PETA just hired strippers from Rick’s Cabaret to represent their anti-fur campaign. Apparently, they know a thing or two about keeping themselves “fur-free”. That was pubic hair joke if you didn’t get it.

What happens when you squelch on a promise made with PETA? First they get their creative team to design a quirky poster to point out your inhumanity. Then they send hundreds of supporters to protest with the posters. Oh, and sometimes they go as far as taking a full page ad in Variety just to make their point. 

The new “Pinocchio Armani” advertisement is not only a ploy for embarrassing payback, but a plea for those attending this year’s Oscars to avoid Armani garments. The animal rights group has even taken the liberty of writing to Oscar nominees, encouraging them to wear the fur-free designs of Stella McCartney, Tommy Hilfiger and Vivienne Westwood. 

I must admit, the advertisement made me laugh, but I guess we’ll see who’s laughing when Armani remains a red-carpet hit or PETA sticks it to the man.

PETA is so weird and grosses me out so much that I don’t know where to start. First off, this commercial is disgusting. Sweaty women rubbing raw vegetables all over themselves? No thanks, and I’m pretty sure the guys can agree with me here. Vegetarianism is a decision made for health, social, ethical reasons etc. But I wouldn’t really consider it sexy. Whatever, thank you NBC for rejecting this super awkward commercial; that leaves more ad space for the good ones.

Those bastards at PETA have striked again. This time they defaced Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsens star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. My guess is they are just as mad as the twins that they have to share a star and are encouraging the split.

Donna Karen, the Bunny Butcher of Forest Hills, has decided to go fur-free for all future collections. Don’t you know this is how it starts Donna?!? You give them this and next their pushing for same sex dolphin marriages and days off for Martin Lemur King Day.

LINKAGE: Donna Karen Officially Goes Fur Free

People may poke fun at her style, saying she looks like an anorexic crack-head, but I love it. For some odd reason, the girl always looks disheveled, thrown together and homeless, but stunning, fashionable and worthy of Fashion Indie’s praise. I would like to consider Mary Kate the pioneer of the bohemian, mod-vintage look, a look that seems easy to pull off, but takes mastery that only this Olsen has. There is no denying that Mary Kate looks good in whatever she wears, with or without styled hair, rips or no rips, baggy or tight fitting. If only Mary Kate still attended NYU…I could hunt her down, grovel at her feet and ask her to teach me her ways. 

So designers, keep a stiff upper lip and don’t back down to the threats of PETA, completely ruining your reputation and aesthetic as a designer. Instead of running over the fox for your latest fur coat with a semi, lightly smack it over the head with a brick.

What do an ex daytime television diva and a woman that used to make expensive dirtiez to Donald Trumps crotch have in common? Both of them enjoy the fuzzy dead carcasses of woodland creatures. I personally think Ivana’s coat is made out of excess comb over sheddings from The Donald. She’s a very resourceful woman. I don’t know where Star got hers from but I’m sure she strangled and skinned the poor little defenseless rats all on her own-some cuz she’s a strong black woman. Don’t mess with Star-uh cuz you’se hoes might be next!

Don’t get me wrong, I hate PETA too…….I want them dead, I paid the people to destroy them but they haven’t finished the job, darn indecisive mormon terrorists! Heavy full on fur coats, however, ain’t cute so the 80′s IS pressing charges cuz they want their merchandise back. Fur is after all murder – FABULOUS MURDER *evil*! I know I personally want a fur coat made out of Brandy and Beyonce lace front wig weavins………….that’s only if anyone was wondering what to get me for ChrismaKwanzNukkah!

In attempts to salvage her reputation with PETA for wearing a fur stole in a recent Tod’s campaign, Paltrow had this to say:

“It was a daylong photo shoot on a boat near Capri, and there were all sorts of poses with all kinds of clothes — none with fur. During one set-up, a stylist came up from behind and draped a stole around my shoulder. I didn’t pay much attention to it, and when I noticed it was fur, I assumed it was fake fur, but did not ask, so it’s my fault. I know it’s not a great excuse, but I hope you and your members understand.”

Fake fur? If you’re a multi-millionaire actress, I’m almost positive you know what real fur feels like. And really, you couldn’t feel the plush stole draped around your neck? What, do you have defective nerve endings too? Nice try Paltrow, it’s time to confess to PETA that you could care less about the fox around your neck and care more about the money in the bank.
