With September just around the corner, the big issues are coming out. Harper’s Bazaar (US) played with a lot of different things this season, even Aggy and Leighton Meester as cover pics. See more from these spreads on Cult.

ADDICT: Mamie Gummer for Gerard Darel

French house Gerard Darel has recruited Mamie Gummer (Maryl Streep’s daughter with sculptor Don Gummer) for their Fall 09 ads. Mamie was photographed in the brand’s signature classic tailoring, knitwear and accessories by Peter Lindbergh. The shoot took place in Paris, in the Palais Royal gardens, and featured the label’s “Jackie” necklace, once worn by Maryl Streep.

MAG HAG: Elle France April 09

The April 2009 issue of Elle France features the natural beauty (meaning no makeup whatsoever) of Monica Bellucci, Sophie Marceau, Eva Herzigova, Inès de la Fressange, Anne Parillaud, Karin Viard, Charlotte Rampling, and Chiara Mastroianni captured by Peter Lindbergh.
How very Brad Pitt of them.

SPREAD UM: Sarah Jessica Parker for Harper’s Bazaar

Even though Sarah Jessica Parker keeps saying she’s not super into fashion, she still does spreads for the top fashion magazines. Why not?!
Most recently she posed for Peter Lindbergh for the March 2009 (you know, The Fashion Issue) of Harper’s Bazaar.
I’m generally a fan; and she looks pretty good on the cover, but terrifying in the SJP-as-Diana-Vreeland editorial.

Cover Girl: Victoria Beckham On Harper’s Bazaar
Ring in the new year with Victoria Beckham on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar shot by Peter Lindbergh. I don’t know about you, but I’m getting this prepubescent teenage boy vibe from her…I’m thinking it’s the short hair combined with the baby-face and bony body. Cute? Yes. Glamorous? Ehhh…
Ad-dict: Marion Cotillard for Lady Dior
Marion Cotillard stars in the new campaign for Lady Dior handbags. The imagary of the ad is described in WWD;
“Perched on top of the Eiffel Tower, its intricate metalwork echoing the canework pattern on the iconic tote, Cotillard posed for photographer Peter Lindbergh wearing an enigmatic expression — and a sexy black number by John Galliano from the spring collection.”
The spots are slated to break at month’s end in France and the U.K. and are the first in a four-part series, with Paris being only the first city and chapter. Further details about her next adventure, and what precious cargo she’s carrying, are to be revealed on a forthcoming Web site: LadyDior.com, which is set to go live in mid-November. The campaign will run twice a year.
Spread: “Fashion Olympics” featuring Lucy Liu shot by Peter Lindbergh for Bazaar, August Issue

My fave: very Robin Hood!

The August issue of Bazaar contains a “Fashion Olympics” spread by Peter Lindbergh featuring Lucy Liu. These images have gotten much controversy from the public, stating that this is mockery of the Olympic games. Since the games are in China, the photographer choose Queens born Lucy Liu as the star of his spread, which has made many people unhappy. Some say the photospread is dumb, using a movie star to convey the emotions of an athlete while wearing Louboutin heals and holding $3100 Gucci bags. I happen to disagree, I think these images are an ode to the Olympic games and actually pay homage to the athletes who dedicate their lives to sports. Obviously, the shoot was staged, and wearing heals while running races is impossible, that’s why you have to look beyond the pretty pics and realize that the photographer was making a statement.
What do you indies think? Mockery or Homage?
Thanks Jezebel for the pics
