Doubling up the usefulness of a vest, 3.1 Phillip Lim has figured out a way to turn it into a backpack. With a drawstring at the collar, a zipper along the hem, and straps in back that conceal when you wear it, the construction is rather genius. Watch your back, Michael Bay. This transformer might be the new summer blockbuster.

We’re crushing hard on the giant peach trend that’s wiping the palette clean into a slightly blushing nude. The effect is a sweetness as subtle as a fuzzy navel. Picasso once said of Marc Chagall, ”When Matisse dies, Chagall will be the only painter left who understands what color really is.” His impeccable color palette, along with the style of the times (1915) laid ground for today’s look. This painting is aptly titled Birthday (for today is mine) and makes me yearn for deep reds and florals.

Is it really that time again for the biggest prize in American fashion? Yup! The nominees and honorees have been announced for the 2012 CFDA Awards and it’s a full house. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have graduated from the Swarovski Emerging Talent pool to be nominated for womenswear designer of the year for The Row along with last year’s winners Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCullough of Proenza Schouler and perennial favorite Marc Jacobs. Amongst the bevy of busy prints that has shaped this fashion week, we’ve noticed how equally represented Roy G. Biv has been. These shades, however, are unique to now, with a sense of vibrancy. According to designers in the Big 4: New York, London, Milan and Paris, it’s going to be a colorful Spring. Taste the rainbow.
