Ralph Lauren Needs To Re-Evaluate His Idea of “Fat”
Share/Bookmark

Ralph Lauren Needs To Re Evaluate His Idea of Fat emerging fashion Five-foot-eight, 120-pound model Filippa Hamilton-Palmstierna said goodbye to Ralph Lauren after four successful years for the label. But unlike models who get too old for the job, Hamilton-Palmstierna’s contract ran out because “of her inability to meet the obligations under her contract with [Ralph Lauren].” According to Hamilton-Palmstierna, some obsessively photoshopped images (above) led her down the path to unemployment, her perfectly proportional body not up to the “skinny” modeling industry’s standards. Knock, knock- Hamilton-Palmstierna is NOT fat and photoshopped images are NOT real.

Britain To Ban Photoshop

Britain To Ban Photoshop all indie

With magazines and advertisements constantly in front of our eyes, we’re often confronted with the image of those picture perfect models. But when Twiggy’s Oil for Olay ads hit stands in Britain, there seemed to be quite an uproar about that picture perfect image. Lawmakers were concerned about the effect Twiggy’s photoshopped image could eventually have on young girls. Though this isn’t the first time Britain has been concerned with faux images, it seems as though this time they’re really making the effort to ban them.

Gisele stars in this campaign, sans baby bump thanks to some creepy photoshop. London Fog commented that they photoshopped her baby bump to “respect her privacy”. Too bad everyone who didn’t know has now been informed of her pregnancy because they released this statement. Privacy fail.

INCASE YOU CARE: Beth Ditto Claims She Was Photoshopped Bigger all indie

We all remember Beth Ditto’s voluptuous nude body on the cover of the debut issue of LOVE magazine. The fashion world has taken Beth under their wing as their token plus-size obsession in an attempt to dispel rumors that they only put 85-pound models on their covers. Apparently Beth’s body wasn’t full-figured enough, they had to photoshop her bigger for the cover of LOVE. Click to see the excerpt from her UK Times Online interview.

SPREAD UM: La Sera è Couture Flair April 2009 magazines

Couture might be out of our price range, but it certainly remains near and dear to our hearts in Flair’s April 2009 editorial ”La Sera è Couture.” Shot by Magnus Unnar, model Charlotte di Calypso brings natural life and movement to the glorified garb, showing the wearable side of couture. The spread is almost amateur, sometimes blurry or shadowed, enhancing the naturally grounded appeal of a girl lucky enough to wear couture. What a breath of fresh air in an age where photoshop ruins everything natural about….well…everything.

VOGUE SECRETS REVEALED: Sienna Millers Body Double magazines

The Daily Mirror’s 3AM Girls have uncovered a horrid, yet not surprising truth. THIS ENTIRE IMAGE IS A LIE!!!

In a behind-the-scenes documentary, The September Issue, fearsome Vogue editor Anna Wintour claims Miller is too “toothy” and staff were worried she has “too many fillings” and “unruly hair”….

The documentary shows how the actress was airbrushed within an inch of her life for the shoot with famed photographer Mario Testino back in 2007. They then took one photo of her face and super-imposed it on a separate picture of her body.

Ugly Betty might have given us a fun little fact about the wicked world of fashion photoshopping. One minute a thick latina with braces and glasses, the next a pencil thin white model. No wonder they’re able to get rid of Fergie’s meth-marks and make her look like a half-way human being on the cover of Cosmo, or in Page Six Magazine’s case, make African model Iman look white and pasty.
