Abbey Lee Kershaw, supermodel and lead tambourine for the rock outfit Our Mountain, stars in a Balmain Spring 2012 campaign video with her bandmates. When she’s not too busy making music with her boyfriend, and Our Mountain frontman Matthew Hutchinson, she tries to squeeze in the occasional gig modeling for Karl Lagerfeld and Terry Richardson. After Hugo Boss recently apologized for its namesake founder’s Nazi past, we’ve realized that designers were heiling Hitler left and right all up and through the 20th century. So in light of this — and of the coming Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashana (mazel!) — we’re highlighting the biggest fascists in fashion history as part of our ongoing Quel Scandale! feature. First up, Christian Dior got down and Nazi decades before John Galliano drunkenly slurred his way right out of a job.

We just got word that Balmain Paris is set to launch a new, more affordable, more “downtown cool” line for men and women. Pierre Balmain is set to launch in 700 stores worldwide and will include all the colors of the fashion rainbow from jeans to tailoring, daywear to eveningwear. Pierre Balmain once said “dressmaking is the architecture of movement,” and Christophe Decarnin managed to make a sexy and sophisticated collection with movement using mainly animal skins and metallics. A Joan of Arc inspired collection, critics claimed his designs were “a returning heroine moment of great zest and epic edgy beauty, saying Decarnin knows “how to rock–and how to sell.”

I’ve been feeling really nostalgic for days when the runway was filled with men who looked like real men and not skinny little boys (Hey men also have pressures from the runway to look pencil thin and 16).
Here’s some looks from the possibly defunk menswear designer, Pierre Balmain, who’s house was once run by Oscar de la Renta and now only caters to women.
