I still remember my first pair of Sam Edelmans – ivory ballet flats, gold chain links, toe cleavage – at the very start of the ballerina shoe explosion. At point of purchase, I thought Sam Edelman was a woman, was surprised to find out he used to be the Sam in Sam and Libby. Point is, Sam Edelman has blossomed into a hit shoemaker since its inception in 2004, and rather than resting on his laurels, he’ll be resting on our shoulders as the brand extends to handbags. A ring is a commitment. No, not a wedding ring (jeez, enough already with the marriage talk), just any ring. At purchase, you typically must commit to wearing that ring on the same finger for the rest of eternity (or until you’re sick of it, or lose it, ain’t no big thang). But that doesn’t leave much room for playing, does it? Liberate your fingers and go s t r e t c h.
