roundUP: 9 Spring Statement Shoes (read: bright, happy heels)

Edited by

The statement is that Spring has come early. Or that winter never really came. Either way, we’re doubly ready for the new breed of neons that are sprinkled with sherbet, the black and white/clear zigging and zagging, and the wedges that will set us over the edge of spring fever. Better yet? These shoes make far greater statements than that of the weather; they will express your sheer contentment and stunning outlook.

Vena Cava Divides Over Shoes

Edited by

Vena Cava‘s designing ladies Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai do some long division for footwear. The problem (and the solution) is Ten Over Six. These two hot brands teamed up to make sky high platforms alongside sensible pumps. These shoes ring ideal for the bi-coastal power strider; airy but ready for the chill. They’re out now at Saks and we’re falling head over heels.

SHOE ENVY: All Caps Azalea

Edited by

After opening an email from SoleStruck last night containing this vibrant shoe from All Caps, I screamed and giggled with excitement as every young lady should when laying eyes upon them for the first time. The Azalea is special, its patent leather upper available in fuchsia, yellow, green and orange to accommodate even the pickiest of feet. Don’t walk down to Electric Avenue, walk in it.

Bookclubbin’: Style Book: Fashionable Inspirations by Elizabeth Walker

Edited by

Great style transcends space and time. From a 19th century Indian colonel in head-to-toe tartan to a 70s supermodel in bright yellow plaid, significant fashion statements will always circle back around. Elizabeth Walker explores this trend phenomenon through historic photographs in her gorgeously-done coffee table staple Style Book: Fashionable Inspirations (Flammarion 2011). If you’re ever wondering how to wear that menswear-inspired suit, vintage fur shawl or those sky-high platforms, let style icons like Diane Keaton, Elton John and Sue Coddington be your guides.

BOUTIQUE CRITIQUE: 1 Of A Find Does Seven Vintage Looks

Edited by

When it comes to designer vintage, FashionIndie does not eff around.  We love everything about classic design – the uber-high quality, the meticulous craftmanship, the luxurious materials – not to mention the amazing stories that come with a Lanvin ball gown that is four decades old!  Every outfit tells a different story, and like we always say, the best stories are the ones told in designer.

This Boutique Critique is about the amazing designer vintage store, 1 Of A Find.  Curator and self-professed shopaholic Honey Moon goes on buying trips all over the world seeking out beautiful, unique, impossible-to-get-your-hands-on Hermes, Chanel, Gucci, Lacroix, and Lanvin to satisfy her international clientele.  She used me as a Barbie doll and transported me into worlds I only dream of.  Best part? Her prices are as unique as her collection, so we definitely recommend scooting over to her Brooklyn location asap.  Check out all our amazing finds after the jump.

Flatform is the New Rain Boot

Edited by

April Showers brought May’s Random Week of Rain. And now we must deal. In thinking about shoes to equip you for the water in the street, there are a few ways to go about it. With a rain boot, you’re covered shin to toe. No chance of water getting in, and also no chance of you getting into any cool bars after work. That’s why a patent leather flatform might just be a rain CHECK.

Get High and Cutout Early

Edited by

Funky chunky platforms and heels make hearts beat faster. This we know. You probably already got a pair of flatforms and mile highers, but we’re finding some details that enhance the uppity spring feeling of this foot high trend. Specifically: linear cutouts. They add length, making your legs seem longer, and the peekaboo effect is scandalously sexy. Neutral, black or bright, it works. Today is 4/20. Get high [shoes].

Three Models Hit Their Personal Best for Vogue Italia

Edited by

Extreme hair, statement lips and exaggerated silhouettes may seem like too much when melded into one look, but they actually complement one another quite harmoniously in the April 2011 issue of Vogue Italia. Models Daphne Groeneveld, Lindsey Wixson and Kristina Salinovic demonstrate their “Personal Best” for photographer Steven Meisel in designs from the likes of Roberto Cavalli, Blumarine and Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquiere. Stylist Edward Enninful conjured 70s memories with punk rock hair, disco platforms and flowery prints, creating an electric and spirited mood for the commander of Italian fashion. But what makes this spread so spectacular is the intimate personality of the photographs; it’s almost like looking at pictures of very gorgeous, very fabulous old-time friends.
