Yoichi Maeda, head designer for both Chausser and YOH Number Eighty One brands, started his career selling footwear before learning the craft of shoemaking from his father. Two decades later and still designing, Maeda makes shoes that are available in Hong Kong, Russia, the US and Europe.

The classic designs for men and women include sneakers, knee-high boots and loafera. Most of the shoes are handmade in Japan, while some limited-edition designs are crafted in Italy; all are made from leather. Chausser shoes are available in over 60 stores across Japan, and the flagship store, Plus by Chausser, is just minutes from Ebisu station.
