The Wolf Gang got taken down by the pigs last night. And not for the first time (what’s so wrong about a roof chase and a riot?). The fine gentlemen of Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All were rapping to a packed venue in Boston when the club owner forced them off the stage; an Odd crew member got arrested for something outside and the po’lice stomped the dirty foot of the law down on the rest of the show. To intense booing from the angsty audience, Tyler, The Creator eased the situation, “So you guys don’t think we’re dicks, I was ’bout to finish this song ’cause y’all paid money, but the promoter cut us off… The police are right there.” Meanwhile, the cops can’t shut down the OFWGKTA sweatshop in NYC.

The Odd Future popped up shop on the LES on 3/20 to launch their new album The OF Tape. But Tyler, The Creator wants you to know he does more than rap. He makes really shitty shirts. “Reality: this shirt is stupid as fuck. It’s ugly. It’s tacky. People like this shit. I’m excited.” Cats, donuts, hot air balloons – he’s got a point. Yet he managed to make that ugly pretty fucking cool. See for yourself:

Are you a part of the Odd Future? Join the sweatshop (not the Alexander Wang kind) at the Reed Space on Orchard St. Open till 3/30.

In an interview with Milk Studios, noted cacomorphobic, Nicola Formichetti revealed he is planning to launch his own brand next year, a sneak preview of which will be available at his pop-up store, NICOLA’S, this New York Fashion Week.

Photo: Milk Studios

In addition to his own brand, NICOLA’S will showcase 12 young designers from China, “cool stuff from Japan,” Uniqlo, a performance space as well as creations he’s done for Mugler and go-to muse Lady Gaga. NICOLA’S will be open from September 8-21 at 57 Walker St in Tribeca.

Meanwhile, Formichetti also describes his vision for Mugler:

I want Mugler to become a digital global brand. I want to create a new kind of fashion brand, a new way of looking at fashion and take a step into digital communication. A kind of brand that hasn’t been seen before, something new for our next generation.

The future of fashion:

For me, the digital approach is very important, it’s the future. But we should not forget about our reality, the physical world. We always need to embrace new things, but never be dependent on them. There will be fashion magazines on paper and on-line. The fashion industry as a whole will shift towards digitalism too. I don’t really know how, but it’ll be great! I love change!

And his trials and tribulations at Starbucks:

I used to hate my name, I always thought, Nicola sounds a lot like a girl..And Formichetti is just weird.. kind of like Spaghetti! I always wanted to change it to Nick, and my surname to Williams.. or Smith.. Nick Smith. I always got embarrassed at Starbucks, when they asked my name..I said its Nick..didnt want them to make weird faces. I guess I got used to it now.

I used to feel the same about my name, then one day I woke up and thought, Lester Leon Talley Ross is not so bad after all. [Milk Made]

Craving a good shopping adventure this weekend? I mean really good, to all people involved in the process. Wares that are crafted by locals worldwide, and most importantly, made beautifully. There’s a retail movement going down on the Lower East Side this Saturday and Sunday, a pop-up shop brought to us by Ahkun.org. The company that supports local production facilities across the globe is bringing together independent designers, who think and create with the world in mind. Check out some participating designers here.

Aritzia is like Urban Outfitter’s Canadian cousin, and she’s making movies to the Big Apple. First, there’s the preliminary visit, so she can get her bearings, then she’ll move here full time, bringing friends like Rag & Bone, Rachel Comey and Vena Cava. Aritzia is opening a pop up “Shop Before the Shop” in Soho this weekend, and pretty much couch surfing there until her permanent two story home opens this May.

According to Racked, it’s opening tomorrow, WWD says it’s opening Sunday, but Aritzia’s blog insists it’s opening this Tuesday the 8th. When it actually decides to open, it will be at 524 Broadway, on the 3rd floor. But on the way up, you’ll have to pass by her not as cool distant cousin Banana, the Republican, who’s letting her crash in the spare bedroom.

Check their blog in the mean while, for a bit of their Spring Preview, like this:

Last night, we were lucky enough to get to shop the Zac Posen for Target collection hours before the pop up shop opened to the public at 11pm. We expected a frenzy, girls fighting over the pieces, but were surprised to find racks full of dresses, tops, and even swimwear…there was even a dressing room section.

I grabbed almost every piece, but was upset when many of the items didn’t fit my boobs. I settled on two dresses, crossing my fingers as I tried them on in hopes that they would fit. The pink tiger print dress was my first choice, a definite must have from the collection. The long gown fit perfectly, even though I had to get it one size up, and I thought that $75 was a small price to pay for a piece of Zac Posen.

We unfortunately had to leave, and missed all the celebs, running into only Olivia Palermo on our way out. But overall, I couldn’t be happier with my purchases. Still contemplating buying a few more pieces when the collection hits Target.com on April 25th.

PS: The pop up shop is open until 11pm tonight at 34th and 8th.

Until January 1st, Only Hearts, the lingerie brand that began peddling underwear as outerwear back in 1978, will offer vintage pieces in their pop-up boutique in NoLita.

The store, called OH:POP, usually carries Only Hearts’ current collections, but has now given itself over to the influence of the 1970′s, 80′s, and early 90′s. Unlike other brands, instead of re-designing a line based on the brand’s past, the pop-up shop is selling the actual vintage garments (with higher price tags than back in the day, unfortunately).

fabricmag.com

Designer Helen Stuart and buyers from the Soho store sifted through the Only Hearts archives to unearth forgotten treasures, like bra and panty sets that feature the orginal heart pattern, 80′s bodysuits and leotards, and flouncy chiffon skirts. Vintage jewelry and fingerless gloves are also being sold there.

The music playing in the shop, like Madonna and Kylie Minogue, as well as the decor just scream “1985.” There’s something for all the daring fashionistas on your list.
