Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough had a little prep in their step when it came to designing the Proenza Schouler Pre-Fall 2010 collection. With their own version of the varsity jackets, cashmere sweaters and oxford shirts, the collection aired towards the conservative, but throw in pieces like the shiny “lacquered” shorts and the holographic sequins and metallic mohair tops and dresses and you’ve got one hell of a collection!

You’ve seen our posts for “pre-fall” pieces. You’ve seen runway shows streamed online featuring “pre-fall” collections. The only thing left is to understand what exactly “pre-fall” is! Once buyers and editors have had their gander at the collections, designers hit the runways to give fashion gurus, like ourselves, a brief taste of what February Fashion Week is to bring. These pre-fall pieces are typically more commercial than ready-to-wear collections and a catered towards stores and customers. Pre-fall collections usually hit stores between May and July, right during the fashion season changeover. Now that you know what the pre-fall season is, expect to see pieces from such collections in stores and ready for your closets!
