Yes, I'm making up a new acronym, and it's called the Chic Black Dress. Something stylish and just above the knee is the way to go, especially if it boasts biz in the front and party in the back like this.

Don't even think about taking your Talbots suit separates out of the closet honey pie because we will set fire to them. Invest in a blazer with character, may it be from the 80s with huge, bold shoulders or a number with coat tails. This isn't investment banking, it's fashion, so look the part.

Animal print says two main things: 1. I mean business 2. I'm here to party. Both are very important things to emanate when you work in the fashion industry. Look around you, there is probably a lot of Tory Burch present. This is okay, go ahead and embrace the phenomenon. These shoes have all above traits present.

Many a time, the first thing someone sees is your bag. Make it a good one. Don't feel the need to carry the same style as everyone else but do feel the need to invest in something that stands out.

As self-explanatory as it sounds, rings can easily be forgotten when running out the door. No one likes a handshake without the cold touch of bling against his or her palm. A few handsome stackables will do.

And don't you dare reach into your "it" bag and fumble around with your jewel-encrusted cell phone when your boss asks for the time. A quick flick of the wrist stands between you and getting fired.

Lucky for you, an internship isn't a real job - you can have a little fun with your wardrobe as long as you don't look like an asshole. A small animal accessory is always a cute touch to top off a professional and stylish outfit.

The folks at Starbucks won't give a shit about your order if they see the fear of your boss twinkling in your teary eyes. An excessively large pair of designer sunglasses will not only make you look like an authority, it will hide last night's hangover as well.

Showing up to work with busted nails is a no-no, especially if you don't have a closet full of Milani One Coat Glitter for backup. Iridescent hues looks nicer longer than matte ones do. Throw a bottle like this in your bag for emergency touch-ups.

UGH this is the worst January has looked in awhile, and it doesn’t even have to do with her being pregnant. The makeup and hair is god-awful -  it reminds me of girls in middle school trying too hard to look grown-up for the class photo. The Preen dress is the only element of this look that is halfway decent. This Mad Men star better step it up, as pregnancy is no excuse to look disheveled.

The ensemble includes:

OVERSIZED BLAZER: This one by Acne, is long enough to cover a tight skirt. You can ditch the skirt at the office on the way out. FYI, A cardinal rule for work appropriateness – cover your bum. That said…

ROUCHE SKIRT: This one by A.L.C., you want to find one that rouches, allowing the most versatility in length. Pull it long at the office, hike it up (just a tad ladies, you’re no ho’) to party.

CROP TOP: This one by Topshop with its overall straps, it crops at the waist and fits snug with the height of the skirt. It has a make-your-own-dress effect, and you can let a strip of high midriff breath sexy.

CROPPIER CARDIGAN: This one by Preen, find a cardigan that buttons above the bust. This gives a gorgeous peekaboo to your decolletage, and makes it easier to stash in a purse. This will be your jacket for the evening.

PATTERNED HEADSCARF: This one by Modcloth, you can wrap a scarf round your neck to hid the cleavage during the day for a classic appeal. At night, tie it round your head in a bow for a royal headpiece look.

CHUNKY CHOKER: This one by Aalia, you can hide your wild jewelry underneath that classy scarf you’re wearing, and bust it out at night.

CUT OUT WEDGE: This pair by Donna Karen, a lace up wedge is perfectly right for work, but the cutouts make it sexy for night too.

**Not pictured** Be a lady, wear stockings to work. If the weather calls for it, take them off later. Play with colors and levels of opacity. Keep it classy.

Rifle through your own closet, you might be able to layer this way with what you have. If not, happy shopping! Remember – smaller separates have a longer life.

According to Gawker, two Vermont teenagers might have hacked into PR company BPCM’s database, entering their names into Fashion Week invite lists. Becca Shumlin and Remy Renzullo allegedly hacked into the database, adding their names to some of the hardest shows to get into at Fashion Week, Alexander Wang and Preen, just to name a few. The hacking was discovered when the two requested invites to Alexandre Herchcovitch’s show and publicists discovered the unknown names on several lists.

And if the punishment for hacking wasn’t bad enough, Ms. Shumlin could potentially ruin her father’s career. Yes, Shumlin’s dad happens to be the Vermont State Senate president.

Mmm, I love the taste of controversy on a Wednesday afternoon.

If one were to generalize the Preen Spring 2010 collection, the words “ready-to-wear lingerie” would undoubtedly be used. A patchwork of bondage-like laces and ruffles made for some gorgeous mini dresses while high-waisted pants and big-shouldered blouses insinuated a sexy business professional vibe. Designers Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi rarely cease to amaze me with their uncanny use of texture and immaculate detail. Another Preen collection to drool over!

Desperate times call for desperate measures. I very well may forfeit eating this month so I can splurge on this incredible mohair-wool blend coat by Preen. With a hidden, asymmetrical button down closure and leather sleeves, there is no denying that this coat is an extreme statement piece. When you see me looking a little frail this month, you’ll know why.

I know, I know, I said I wasn’t going to deal with Preen anymore because their collections are too freaking schizo for me to contend with. One minute they’re showing gorgeously constructed , artfully layered cocktail dresses and the next they’re sending mechanic’s jumpsuits and plaid sherpa-lined parkas with no pants down the runways. It’s just too much for my delicate constitution… I have a hard enough time dealing with my own mood swings, thankyouverymuch. HOWEVER, this resort collect from the dynamic British duo was surprisingly devoid of their standard fuggery and pleasantly on the plus side of cute.

The majority of the collection was done in delightful shades of plum and aubergine, with the occasional bit of lilac and pale pink, and if there’s one thing that the Preen kids can and do get right in each collection, it’s a healthy dose of sequins. They have a real knack for creating that kind of molten metallic look with their sparkles, the kind that gives me a big ole fashion girlboner. Layered with artfully slashed chiffon, vaguely menswear-inspired tailoring, and hints of low-cut lace, they make for an unabashedly sensual and decidedly feminine feeling that looks like it would be light and cool for humid city nights. I especially enjoy the bare, nude-toned strappy sandals with the dress, creating a long line of the leg and offsetting the languid organic shape of the dress with a spindly, structural accessory.

Yeah it’s late…but whatever. One of my favorite indie mags, Preen, features a choppy-haired Zoe Kravitz in their No. 7 issue, which happens to be the latest issue since No. 8 has curiously failed to hit the newsstands yet (not another fatality, I hope). I’m just really feeling the photography in this spread, plus it gives me a reason to wax poetic about the talented and enigmatic progeny. Despite having some very remarkable genes, 20 yr.-old Zoe seems to maintain an unassuming presence and a reposed, eclectic style that is really all her own. She’s continuously proving herself as a serious fashion maven and genuine actress, as evidenced by her latest film, The Greatest, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.

The Six Scents Fragrance Initiative brings together six perfumers and artists to create limited edition fragrances fora good cause. The six scents titled  Six Scents Series One and curated by Seven New York’s Joseph Quartana are: Gareth Pugh’s “Diagonal,” Bernhard Willhelm’s “Wicken 3000,” Preen’s “Teen Spirit,” Jeremy Scott’s “Illicit Sex,” Cosmic Wonder Light Source’s “Spirit of the Wood” and Alexandre Herchcovitch’s “Urban Tropicalia.”

The scents mix traditionally masculine and feminine fragrances with notes of bergamot, red pepper berries, magnolia, rose, fig leaves, green grass, sea breeze accord, rhubarb and sandalwood. Profits will got towards awareness and funding for the Designers Against AIDS’ International AIDS Awareness Center set to open in December in Antwerp, Belgium. There are 2,000 bottles of each scent and each costs $85.
