href="http://www.sevillemichelleanastos.com"> Seville Michelle Anastos is all about having ideas and making them into a reality. “When you say you’re going to do things, just do it,” advice from Seville Michelle herself. From full-time stylist to the most requested accessories designer at Patricia Field after only having been in business for a little over two years, you can find her work in over 40 shops and online market places all over the world. Anastos’ accessories have been published in Essence magazine, Gotham magazine, Vice magazine, Glamour, Vibe, Redbook, etc. Her designs have been worn by Kreayshawn to Nicki Minaj, Today living by the Seville Michelle Anastos motto “Good Taste Must Be Shared” we present a more one on one level with Seville Michelle and details on her line.

When and how did your line begin?

I launched my accessories line in the Fall of 2010 with a concept design of epaulets. I created a small collection in different styles and they ended up in the hands of some fashion influentials. I’ve since introduced earrings, bangles and eyewear.

What inspires your work?

I watch a lot of nature documentaries. I’m in love with the beluga whale. I watch the same documentaries over and over.. I’ve seen the Blue Planet series over a hundred times and I now watch Microcosmos fanatically. Have you ever seen ladybugs make love? It’s a fascinating and a gentle experience.

Where do you finding the amazing leathers and animal skins that you use on your accessories?

I buy my leather at the same place that Helmut Lang, Diane Von Furstenberg and Oscar De La Renta buy from. Its expensive and the best in the city. Libra Leather. I work with Sam Jones, The Leather Queen. She has great taste and instincts when it comes to leather. Libra Leather has been pioneering leather trends in New York for decades. They provide the selection designers conceptualize their entire leather collection from. They are best in the biz.

The Feather Spray Earrings seem like a big deviation from some of your previous designs. What was the inspiration behind those?

When I launched my line in October 2009 I used feathers in the fabrication of many of those epaulet designs. The feather was lying on my desk at a certain angle and it came to me.. that should be attached to an ear. I guess it’s all the nature videos I watch.

What celebrities have you worked with?

I grew up in NYC so Mary J Blige, Lauryn Hill and Beyonce were the soundtrack of my life. I attended borderline ruff schools and their music was uplifting and their voices strong, I adored them. Now as an adult, this entire experience as a designer has been transcendental for me. I often can’t believe who I’ve turned out to be. Just three years ago I was the most unhappiest girl in the world. I’ve designed for all them. I’ve also created custom accessories for Lil Wayne’s and Prince’s musical tours.. I used to make out with posters of Prince. I’ve designed for Alicia Keys’ Freedom tour. Lauryn Hill just bought my entire collection for her European tour.

What’s your favorite part about being a designer?

The actual design process is probably my favorite part of being a designer. I often struggle between concept and application.. I’ll think about a construction for months before I even attempt to piece it together.. My own thoughts intimidate me. There is an element of anxiety I experience and I know that I’ll figure it out eventually. There are some designs I’ve constructed, not many, that I will never share with the world. I hoard special pieces.

What are the biggest challenges as a designer?

Figuring out which tradeshows to do make me pretty dizzy.

Three must haves to have in your wardrobe?

Combat boots, a black fur and a balaclava.

What is your best moment that you’ve experienced in your career?

All of them have been extraordinary. Getting picked up by Nordstrom, a tour order from Alicia Keys, selling at Patricia Field and having my mom and dad say that they’re proud of me.

What advice do you have for aspiring designers?

Organize yourself. Have a decent website, take good pictures, get a press list, don’t get tired, get motivated. Surround yourself with good people that want good for you. Love yourself and visualize yourself in the place you want to be.

How would you describe your personal style?

My look changes drastically, often. Recently my style is Le Femme Nikita.. assassin chic.

What is the inspiration behind “in love and good fashion” and “good taste must be shared”?

I tend to curate everything. My friends, my wardrobe and words.. I love language and assembling words together.. In Love and Good Fashion fell into place in the first weeks of creating my first collection.. it represents the head set I was in at the time..

Good Taste Must Be Shared is a personal philosophy.. Good taste crosses over into all aspects of living.. food, clothing, jewelry, travel and all of earths spoils.. Everything that is good about anything should be shared and enjoyed.

What’s currently on your iPod?

I don’t have an Ipod but I have been listening to Amy Winehouse, Wu Tang Clan, Florence and The Machine and Lauryn Hill recently.

Describe Mary Had A little Scam and the other short films you are working on based on your line?

I decided to make a short film when the concepts in my head began to move and could only be expressed through video. I’ve watched enough documentaries and films to understand the shooting style I like. I titled the film Mary Had A Little Scam to represent the duality between innocence and a calculated menace. I wanted to create a sexy film that captures the private moments strong women experience when alone.. the awkwardness, paranoia, struggle, uncertainty and ultimate perseverance. The character Mary in the short film Mary Had A Little Scam has a public persona of a fierce rebel leader with the American Accessories Coalition for Good Taste (AACGT). Her mission is to collect rare jewelry from around the world, sharing good taste with the masses.

What are you currently working on for your line right now?

I’m preparing a trip to Paris, meetings, meetings, meetings!

Where do you see Seville Michelle Anastos 5 years from now?

I’m excited for the future. Nothing I’ve done has been planned, my line has swept me off my feet!

You can follow Seville Michelle’s line and updates on twitter too<a

Skateboarding has an incredibly different sub-culture to anything I have encountered before, in fact it seemed as though my life was turned upside when I began meeting and interacting with other skaters. I went from deciding what I would order from the Donna Karen AW Collection to deciding which Roxy tees would be most maneuverable in. One aspect of the culture that I could relate to was the strong connection that many skaters have with graphics, art and photography. My teacher, Steve Olson has produced several art exhibitions, with many more in the pipeline, and it is clear that Olson is happiest when he can collaborate with his son.

Alex Olson, who is currently one of the leading professional skateboarders, also has a talent for art and photography. I was led to his website www.olsonstuff.com and was impressed by his work. He posts daily on www.olsonstuff.tumblr.com which has garnered quite the devoted following. After spending a week or two looking through the photographs he chooses, as well as the questions he is asked and the answers he offers, I was intrigued to find out what motivated and inspired this young man, who, from an outside perspective at least, appears to have the world at his feet. Alex kindly agreed to be interviewed.

Kirsten Lea: Why did you start a tumblr page?

Alex Olson: I just liked it and wanted to do it.

K: Would you like it to lead to anything?

A: I mean if it got me somewhere that would be amazing and it would be hours well spent looking for images while I’m bored. I was never trying to shoot for something bigger I just like doing it and seeing other people’s stuff.

K: I notice a lot of skateboarders get involved in the art world. Why do you think that is?

A: It’s another job, like skating, where you’re your own boss.

K: Do you think it’s because pro skate boarders design their own boards and get used to drawing graphics?

A: I would never tell anybody that “I’m an artist” because it’s such an easy thing to say nowadays.<img

Whatever. It’s cool.

K: Alex, I’d like to give you a gift. What would rock your world?

A: I’m lost on this one.

Steve Olson: I don’t think he likes the term “rock your world”. Rephrase it.

K: I’d like to buy you a present. Money is no object for me and I love buying people gifts. You may not be materialistic, but what could I buy you that would make you really happy and reflect well upon me?

A: Well, I’d say something that we talked about in the past. You would have to listen to know what I was into.

K: Okay, I’ll decide at the end of the interview….

K: You have good style in your skateboarding, but understandably, a career in skateboarding doesn’t seem to fulfill you. What are your ambitions?

A: I don’t know. I’d like to make a career out of something else. Not just one thing. I don’t feel safe with only one career option and nothing to fall back on.

K: Steve mentioned that you might be working with photographer Mario Sorrenti. What would you like to achieve from that collaboration?

A: Well you make it sound as if we’re going to be working on some project together. I was just trying to assist him but he was never in town so I never got to.

K: Do you take photographs to please yourself or for other people?

A: I do it for myself, mostly, but if I do it for others, I just want them to laugh. I don’t know. I don’t try to get too deep with the art thing. Those people bug the shit out of me. If you like it you like it, if you don’t you move on to something else.

K: The responses on your blog are very blunt and direct, particularly if you don’t like the question. Have you ever wanted to cultivate an image or on-line persona and if so, is that part of it?

A: No, that’s just me being myself

K: Do you ever consider how you come across?

A: Yes, I’m sure I come off as a dick but I’m just being truthful to what I think the Q & A is.

K: On your tumblr it says, “ask me anything”. So what do you like being asked about most?

A: I don’t ever think about this type of stuff. I don’t know. Sorry.

K: Well, what do you most enjoy thinking about or talking about?

A: Here we go again… I really don’t know. I don’t look for conversations. If they happen and they’re good, it’s amazing but I’m not a big talker.

K: What kind of person would you like to be?

A: A good person.

K: What style of comedy appeals to you most?

A: Dry comedy.

K: Who is your favorite film director?

A: I don’t have any.

K: We’re on a private jet for five hours. What movies do you want to watch?

A: I’m not the biggest movie guy. Something I haven’t seen?

K: Okay, you’re not into movies. Do you like documentaries?

A: Yes.

K: Do you prefer to edit footage yourself or have someone edit for you?

<a

I used to remember the pattern of phone numbers but not the numbers themselves.

K: Do you find it difficult to care about other people?

A: It depends.

K: What would someone have to do for you to care about his or her wellbeing?

A: I’ve never thought about it. If I like the person a lot then I’d care about them.

K: Have you ever fallen in love to the point where you put their happiness before you own?

A: At one point in my life, maybe. That type of love is when you have kids.

K: What is the best date you’ve ever been on?

A: I hate dates. Maybe I should start to like them…

K: Yes, they can turn into some of the most special moments of your life…

A: … I’m not really a talker and that can be hard for the other person on the date.

K: That’s very thoughtful of you. The best date, for someone who doesn’t like talking, is going to movies, but you don’t like films. How ironic is that?

K: What is the best date you can imagine?

A: One that doesn’t feel like date.

K: Do you like to dance?

A: Yes. Eggs on toast with tomato.

K: What is the most precious thing you have lost?

A: Friends.

K: What or whom do you value most in your life?

A: Friends, family and food.

K: You have two days alone with your lover. How would you like to spend them and where?

A: I don’t know. Where are we spending this so called “alone time”?

K: You get to choose where to spend the time and how.

A: Well, I’d go to New York because if something happened between us, I wouldn’t be stuck in a place I don’t know.

K: How do you settle differences in your relationships?

A: Talk or write.

K: What is your longest grudge?

A: I’ve never ever though about this.

K: Maybe you don’t have any?

A: I don’t have any.

K: What terms of endearment do you use?

A: I couldn’t tell you.

K: Because you don’t use any or because you don’t know me?

A: How about I just don’t know. I try to be nice.

K: What hurts your feelings?

A: HA! I don’t know. It would just have to happen.

K: In skateboarding you have to get used to getting hurt. Do you find that prepares you for dealing with emotional pain?

A: Yes, that’s how people learn. They try a different way.

K: How much responsibility do you take for your own problems?

A: All.

K: What can you guarantee about yourself?

A: I can guarantee that I’m not going to guarantee.

K: What do you like best about yourself: your talent or appearance?

<a

This princess was trapped in a box by an evil Kuji sweater-loving jester, who had usurped the kingdom with the aid of a highly popular television show.

He forced the princess to be part of an ensemble including the wonderful Phylicia Rashad and later, a young Raven Symone. Then, to further punish her, the evil jester sent her to a Different World.

Fearing all was lost, the princess one day fell in love with a handsome guitar-wielding prince. Not that one.

The two ran away from the evil jester and his brand of family friendly comedy and delved deep into a world of bad decisions and even worse movies. Angel Heart anyone?

Eventually, the prince and princess broke up, but not before bringing into the world a new princess. One full of light and love and gorgeous bone structure.

When the princess came of age she landed the campaign for a young <a

Of course, as with all new stars there are bullet points of press ready talking points. Here are a few of our favorites unbelievable “facts” from her Wikipedia page. Prepare to be unimpressed.

1. She Likes Guys That Look That Coke Addicted Grandfathers

Best part of Tik Tok is the line, “And now, the dudes are lining up cause they hear we got swagger, but we kick em to the curb unless they look like Mick Jagger.”

Seriously? What girl under the age of 40 even thinks this dude is halfway fuckable? If you like old rockers there are a bunch of others who don’t look like they had shitty collagen lip implants or need Depends adult diapers.

2. Ke$ha lived in the home where Hotel California was recorded

According to Wiki, Ke$ha lived in a shared home in Laurel Canyon when she first moved to LA and it’s we’re the Eagles recorded Hotel California. This just seems so unlikely, like the other day a friend of mine told me she knew someone who lived in a spot Andy Warhol called home in the 60s. Plausible, yes. Likely, no. With so many fanatics out there, stalking these spots, I find it hard to believe that someone as fabricated as Ke$ha would know who the Eagles are or care enough to seek out their old recording studio as a place a residence. Especially since by the time Hotel Cali was making the rounds they were loaded, and Ke$ha’s next claim makes it seem like she’s not.

3. Ke$ha Lived Out of Her 1978 TransAm

This was after her stint at The Eagles recording spot of course. She claims she lived out of her gold TransAm. Save it for the Lifetime special Ke$ha, everyone knows that unless you’re addicted to meth or Jewel, white blondettes rarely spend a night out of a warm bed. Plus, I’m sure mommy and daddy wouldn’t allow such a thing.

Getting drunk and crashing in your car cause you didn’t want to hit another drifter on your way home does not equal “living in your car”.

4. Ke$ha Cares Who Prince Is

Ke$ha really, really wanted Prince to produce her music, so she snuck into his Beverly home where she was caught and thrown out. She was able to leave Prince her demo but he never contacted her, tear…

Um, maybe he didn’t contact you cause you broke into his house you psycho. Sorry people, this sounds highly unlikely, E! News would have been all over this shit if it was true, or at least rumors would have spread that a) some crazy girl is breaking into producers homes, or b) Prince has some fucking lax security. Definitely sounds like another lie produced by the studio, cause everyone knows Timbaland has the easiest place to break into, just show up as the weed delivery girl and your in.

5. Ke$ha sang on Paris Hilton’s second single, but blew her chance of being her BFF when she puked in her closet.

The only rumor on her Wiki that seems plausible. This girl looks like she can’t hold her heroin. Plus, she was one of the families that Paris Hilton stayed with on The Simple Life, so her knowing Paris seems likely.

Ke$ha admitted to the puking incident on EW where she stated: “Totally separate occasion [to The Simple Life], but yes, that did happen. They stayed in my house in Nashville when I was 17. Then fast forward six months, I’m out in LA, and I sing background vocals for her second single. And then that night we went to her house and we were all dancing, hanging out. Then I got overexcited and ralphed in her closet. I thought it was a bathroom… and it just so happened not to be a bathroom. It was a closet.”

So you were 17, drinking and getting higher than Paris’s cock whenever she spots a paparazzi and then you upchucked you’re intestines in a closet. Was that also the night you were kicked out of the guest house and forced to live in your car, Ke$ha?

Joy to the fabrication. Well, now you won’t have to. It seems as though Prince has his own fragrance, and not only that, he seems to have released the product for quite some time now. Why does no one know about this? That might have to do with the fact that Prince neglected to promote the 3121 fragrance, which was made by the company Revelations. The company sure wasn’t happy, and though they issued a license with Prince in 2006, it wasn’t until yesterday that the star was sued. The grand total: $100, 000. I suggest that in the future he should work to promote the product, it might result in some cash gain, not loss.

Thanks <a
