Whoever said high school was the best time of your life clearly wasn’t gay. For some people, however, that was their peak so it’s understandable that they would want to revisit a simpler, sluttier time.

The New York Times, apparently short on stories about the Middle East collapsing in on itself , sent a reporter to Green Bay, Wisconsin where 100 people or so turned up for “prom the way you always wanted it.”

And it wouldn’t be prom without awful dresses, spiked punch and of course a king and queen. Despite my cynicism, it’s actually quite cute. Who doesn’t love a second chance to do it right, do it over or do it in the backseat of their Chevy Camaro? [NYT]

-  Models Agyness Deyn and David Gandy and designer Henry Holland ran the London Marathon on Sunday. Holland shut it down with a time of 3h 28m — maybe his running gear had something to do with it. Gandy came in with a time of 4h  35m and Aggy in 4h 45m, despite bad knees from a skiing accident and running in 5-inch heels, respectively. [Vogue UK]

- Jason Wu clearly needs to get into the prom dress business. After dressing Karlie Kloss in 2009, the designer outfitted junior super Lindsey Wixon for the prom over the weekend. That certainly beats the tacky one-shouldered hoochiewear teenagers wear nowadays that often lead to 18 years of “Nights to Remember.” [Stylecaster]

- The bride wore Givenchy. Natasha Poly married her fiancé in Saint Tropez with the aid of Riccardo Tisci‘s elegant tailoring, a natural choice for the Givenchy regular. Poly looked gorgeous and her new husband…clearly has a lot of money. What? Love may be blind, but I’m not. [Modelina]

- Sister Act on Broadway means two things: 1.) Me front-row screaming “His Eye Is on the Sparrow” and 2.) 7,000 Swarovski crystals running through 23 of the show’s costumes. Patina Miller will don the sparkling habit when she makes her Broadway debut as Deloris Van Cartier, the role originated by EGOT-er and professional grumpygoose, Whoops Goldberg. [Racked]

- Lady Gaga‘s newest single “Judas” leaked on the internet and The Catholic League is already up on the cross about it. The song will be officially released tomorrow, the 19th and the accompanying video will feature Gaga portraying Mary Magdalene. The League had harsh words for the hitmaker, calling her “irrelevant” and “boring.” Meanwhile, pot meet kettle. [Hollywood Life]

A little ridiculous? Maybe. For $14,000, I want to see something seriously unique and out of this world. But if you like the dress and don’t have that money to burn, you can buy the non-diamond version for $398.

Taffeta. Sequins. Glitter. Boutonnières, white rented tuxedos and shiny plastic shoes. There is one time in every person’s life when these elements join forces to create a heinous, overdramatic scene of bad fashion- PROM. The dresses have such full skirts that eight small children could hide underneath. Scratchy fabrics in pastel colors are mixed with far too many sequins. Couples try to match the tux to the dress, a detail that usually ends with eighties-esque cummerbunds. Girls go to the makeup counter at the mall and get a clown face painted on their skin. Boys’ mothers buy corsages laced with synthetic ribbons and pounds of glitter. Photos are taken on suburban lawns in 50 different poses that drunken parents assemble. Chicken, baked potatoes and processed rolls are consumed. Attendees grind and sweat all over each other and a queen and king are crowned with cubic zirconium. Goodbyes are said, tears fall and virginities are lost. For all of you whose prom is long gone, relive the tacky memories and have a good laugh. For some of you who are looking forward to the parade of troublesome style, please avoid these elements at all costs. You will be much happier looking back at the photos someday.
