CFDA Picks 12 for Fashion Incubator

The Council of Fashion Designers of America and New York City Economic Development Corporation have tapped 12 designers (Alice Ritter, Bibhu Mohapatra, Prabal Gurung, Sophie Theallet, Rachel Dooley with Gemma Redux, Grant Krajecki of Grey Ant, Waris Ahluwalia of House of Waris, Joel Diaz with Jolibe, Alison Lewis of Lewis, Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne of Public School, Yuvi Alpert and Danna Kobo of Ruby Kobo, Justin Giunta of Subversive Jewelry) as the first tenants of the CFDA Fashion Incubator.

Public School: Fall 2009 Collection

Public School has a new line ready for Fall 2009. It is rumored to hit shelves in August, and it has some wonderful pieces to pick from. The collection is more of a trendy streetwear look with a couple pieces that can really be used to generate some great outfits. This is a very Kanye West looking collection, and not that that’s a bad thing, but I feel like Public School failed to take a step forwad for their brand. Not all I hoped it to be, Sorry!

Public School– the collection designed by Dao Yi Chow and Max Osborne is now entering its second season with fall 2008– the Overachiever Collection. The duo just shot their fall look book and we’ve got a sneak peek.

The fall collection is chock full of details, and convertible styling. A long leather coat zips off to become a badass jacket. A luxuriously soft knit turtleneck pulls up to a balaclava, leather jackets come with detachable sleeves and zip off gloves. Trousers are a fuller cut, and often feature suspenders for an old world feel.
