The Brighton Blue Crocodile Birkin $59,500

This Boutique Critique is about the amazing designer vintage store, 1 Of A Find.  Curator and self-professed shopaholic Honey Moon goes on buying trips all over the world seeking out beautiful, unique, impossible-to-get-your-hands-on Hermes, Chanel, Gucci, Lacroix, and Lanvin to satisfy her international clientele.  She used me as a Barbie doll and transported me into worlds I only dream of.  Best part? This gown was to DIE for.  It caught my eye immediately as a dress made for the 1950′s movies I play out in my head. When Anna Wintour extends me a VIP invitation to the Met Gala, I will surely be sporting something like this on the red carpet.

Oh-la-Lanvin!  This split front evening skirt with matching metallic sandals took my breath away.  I channeled Carrie Bradshaw and paired it with a Levi’s jean jacket and a fun net hat (something so Kate Middleton right now) to mix it up.

The perfect summer maxi — the sheer chiffon made it cool in the heat while making a major fashion statement with its bold prints.  Paired with Dior booties, a Gucci bag, and a summer straw hat, I was loving this luxe warm weather look.

You can’t do Brooklyn vintage without channeling a little inner hipster.  These Dior shoes (with the angelic sweet bows), vintage Levi’s and amazing seuqin blouse kept the look casual but party ready.  A python bag and flat brimmed hat made me look MUCH cooler than I am.

The Mod Squad would have adopted me in a heartbeat in this Montaldo Op Art dress.  I fell in love with the digital print, it was so eye catching and well, trippy.  Bubbled sleeves and a high neck are hard to pull off without looking like Julie Andrews, but this psychedelic wonderland of a dress with slim cuts made it utterly chic.  I fell in love with the leather wedges and actually scooped them up for myself (sorry shoppers!).

I never thought I could pull off a Blair Waldorf headband until I found this gem of a velvet headband.  So sweet and a little schoolgirl, it matched perfectly with this lace dress from the 60′s. The chunky heeled shoes kept the look 100% vintage, and the hand painted wooden purse kept a touch of fantasy in the mix.

Becks’ bags were up for grabs on Net-a-Porter UK this morning, and they SOLD OUT like Justin Bieber tickets at a little-girl-fest. The bags officially hit stores later this month.

I’m impressed. Anything this girl touches turns to gold bricks of awesome.

Victoria seamlessly bridged the gap from pop superstar to trophy wife to high-fashion designer. She is brand new to the couture game and was already nominated for a British Fashion Award earlier this year.

I was contacted by Ila security and recently received an ila Dusk alarm and an ila Pebble.
Here are my thought on both products:

ila Dusk
It Is a thing of sleek beauty. At first glance it resembles an mp3 player and could easily be worn as a pendant around the neck ,on your belt loop, on your purse, keys etc. The graphic designs are thoughtful, this ain’t no Fox40 whistle! So users should not feel out of place or too ‘obvious’ carrying one around.Besides looks it really does pack a punch. Remove the pin and it will
emit a high frequency (130dB) female scream for help for a total of 10
mins. The sound will only stop once the pin has been reinserted. It is designed to emit only ONE of these screams, so use it wisely.

ila Pebble
Think of it as the Ila Dusk’s little sister. It fits in the palm and emits the same 130dB frequency as the Dusk only it is an alarm noise rather than a female scream. The Pebble operates by using both a button and a pin. To activate it you press the button then remove the pin. This allows you to throw your alarm whilst still holding on to your keys which attach to the keyring on the pin. Cute as a button it wouldn’t be out of place as a bag charm or key ring. One school of thought suggests that such devices once deployed should be thrown in the direction of the attacker. However I feel that carrying the alarm with you would be more effective as it would deter your attacker from pursuing you. Think about it why would they want to stay near the thing that is alerting everyone to their crime or potential crime?

Note:
The products were tested by myself in a field behind an industrial park. I can personally vouch for their efficacy in regards to the sound that both emit. I am certain that in most attack situations this sound alone would either act as a deterrent or buy the user some time to find help.

Both alarms carry a warning about ear damage when the product is used in
very close range. With this in mind it is important to only use the
alarms in an emergency situation (minus me testing them of course). The
batteries on both alarms will last for three years if the devices are
not used. Another good reason to only use them if you have to.
