Last Friday eager fans waited in the hellish rain that hit Manhattan for a chance to snag one of the 150 limited screened art pieces signed by Humpston himself. The collab makes sense considering Humpston’s history. He is considered to be one of the godfather’s of the skate movement and was responsible for all the artwork of Dogtown.

The collection itself is pretty cool and worth checking out. The graphics scream of youth and rebellion. (Two themes mind you that we will always endorse.)

Today is the first day of the season that I wore shorts to work so I decided to share a few pairs I have my eye on.

The Hamptons is going to be swarming with the rich and fabulous. It is important that you always look posh and put together even if you’re getting plastered in the middle of the day. I recommend this Ben Minkoff weekender. It’s simple, durable, and can hold a champagne bottle or two. (And yes I know from experience.) One of your essentials should include a Ralph Lauren polo. (The staple of the prep wardrobe) An Orlebar Brown bathing suit is the way to go shorts wise. (Even if you’re not swimming you can wear these as shorts all day and look stylish.) Finally you’ll need a pair of  Sperry boat shoes. (Duh!) Don’t forget to bring a blazer just in case and daddy’s credit card.

The Jersey Shore is always a hot spot during the summer months and Memorial Day weekend is probably one of the craziest times it gets. As a Jersey native I have to say that  people were going to down the shore (As we Jerseyans put it) before Snooki and The Situation took over with a camera crew. That being said a Quiksilver duffle is what you want to pack. It can take a beating and be fulled to over capacity with all your weekend needs. While you’re at the beach or walking on the boardwalk these American Eagle shorts have both fashion and function without calling negative attention to whoever is wearing them. Speaking of the boardwalk you can stroll comfortably down it in these Ugg sandals. Lastly you’ll need something nice to impress at the club and an Armani Exchange dress shirt will do the trick. Just make sure you’re tan and party ready.

Fire Island is a major gay destination on the East Coast if you didn’t know. The island is known for it’s nonstop parties and debauchery. If you go this Rag & Bone bag says “I’m here, I’m queer, & I have taste: Get Used To It!”  I recommend packing light since it seems that many of the people running around are not in that much clothes. That’s why this Baskit trunk is totally appropriate. There are a lot of outdoor activities so go for a pack of American Apparel tanks so you have something light and simple that can transition from day to night. Finally I recommend these GAP flip flops:they’re inexpensive, versatile and perfect for a beach day. Remember to leave your heavy layers and inhibitions behind.

Mother Earth has been great to us so the least we can do is show her some appreciation by doing our best to preserve her while we dress for the warm weather.

Since the tee is a staple in every guy’s wardrobe it is best to start there. Many companies are making their shorts eco friendly my incorporating organic cotton. Quiksilver for instance has a great graphic tee made of 100% organic cotton.

Shirts aren’t the only thing made from organic cotton. Another staple is denim so that’s next. Nudie Jeans offers a pair that 13 oz denim from Italy made in 100% organic cotton.

While it would be in the environments best favor for you to go barefoot it isn’t very practical. Mother Nature can be a little harsh with her sun rays but you can block them the right way.  Sunglass Hut boasts it own eco friendly sunglass line. Based on the info above one can see 2 obvious things: 1. it is going to be hot and 2. it’s going to be a mixed bag of artists. Because of this it is best to try to stay as cool as possible and genre neutral. Since it’s also the first day of the festival it’s best to play it cool and casual. Nothing says loser like trying to hard on a first day.

Casual can described at it’s best by wearing a tee shirt. In this case a graphic one with a V-Neck is preferable.  This Quiksilver tee is an amazing shade of grey and depicts the ease and breeze that is California.

It will be suicide to wear pants that whole weekend. That being said a laid back pair of shorts will do for this outfit. I picked out these Vince Seaside Stripe Trouser Shorts because they are summer weather ready and the stripes are a great and subtle outfit accent.

When it comes down to accessories go for color. Sperry is always a warm weather footwear staple so these Striper Laceless in a bright blue will do the trick. You need a timepiece to make sure you don’t miss your favorite act so this Micheal Kors watch kill keep you organized and stylish. To finish off your look throw on a pair of colored sunglasses. Since everyone and their mother will be doing a wayfarer look why not try a colored aviator such as this one from Ray-Ban.

I’ve enjoyed many drunken nights at The Standard Hotel. This is because the places hosts both The Boom Boom Room and Le Bain. Not everyone can get into the scared space so they launched a cool new website focusing on culture. 1. Quiksilver

This California based brand has been making many style advances throughout the years. At first stores were usually only shopped by surfers and the like who only bought plain tees, board shorts and surf gear. Nowadays you can walk into a store and find tailored jeans, cool sweaters, and artist created graphic tees. They haven’t loss their connection with the origins and still have great board shorts and walk shorts perfect for the beach, pool, or just lounging around.

2. All Saints

As far as I have read there are opposing views on All Saints. The Fashion Indie crew recently payed a visit to the new Soho location and we marveled at all the stuff. I will say this probably is the priciest one on the list but the stuff looks and feels great. The reason I would say to splurge here because the stuff will last. As I believe Saynt put it, “It is the John Varvatos feel with out the John Varvatos price tag.”

3. Topman

I have on many occasions extolled my love for this British brand. It is only update, current, and the store usually has everything they have online and more. I am more excited for the new AAA collection to come out. Make this your summer hotspot if you like to go out and look amazing

4. Old Navy

Now some people might me scratching their heads when it comes to this part of the list. If you have ever been into a store you know that they do not sell haute couture gowns and suits, but they do one thing amazing well, basics. Old Navy has basics that are extremely inexpensive, and if styled correctly can look effortless and refined.

5. Vintage

Vintage is ALWAYS in style no matter what anyone says. It would be a smart idea to find out local vintage and consignment stores that have a good assortment of menswear. I know some of the ones in New York that I have frequented include Inven.Tory (which also sells current clothes at a deal), Tokio 7, and local flea markets.
