On body image:

I think I sit today in a place of greater acceptance of my body, and that includes not just my weight but all of the things that come with your changing body as you age to now experiencing my body as extremely thin — thin in a way that I never imagined somebody would be saying to me, “You’re too thin, and you don’t look good.”

On her guilty pleasure:

Watching Jersey Shore, because it’s such a train wreck. It’s excessive behavior being rewarded, which in truth is painful to watch, but you just can’t look away!

Put outfits together prior to the trip instead of throwing a ton of separates into a bag with no direction. Lay each outfit out on your bed with shoes and accessories before packing it away. You can see what pieces will mix and match, eliminating unnecessary garments. It makes it easier on your trip too because you won't be digging in your suitcases and throwing things around the hotel room searching for something to wear.

Shoes are the clunkiest, heaviest pieces in your suitcase, so limit the number of pairs you pack. Try to bring shoes you can wear with several outfits instead of choosing a pair for each. Shoes should be packed on the borders of the bag. Roll each of your outfits together as logs instead of folding them. Put undergarments in plastic bags and stuff them into your shoes.

What to do when dressing as a new mom? Take notes Hilary Duff:

“Pare it back. I wear less jewelry now because it can be sharp—I take everything off before I hold my son, Skyler. But if I’m going out, I’ll wear a great oversize piece. Also, I’m mindful of the products I use. I love Zoya nail polishes: They’re nontoxic (Skyler-safe!) and come in gorgeous shades.”

Zoe’s feelings on heel height match ours, word perfect:

“I like flats and I adore a high heel, but I don’t love a kitten heel. It’s neither here nor there. And the one show I will never wear is sneakers.”

Truth-slinging Zoe reminds that skinny jeans will not make you skinny:

Seven for All Mankind‘s Michele Manz wants to stuff the royal pair in their designer jeans, while Kevan Hall offers Kate one of his statement-making gowns for a  BAFTA red carpet event.

Unsurprisingly, everyone’s clamoring to pretend-dress the Duchess with Juan Carlos Obando envisioning her in a Halston moment and BCBG  Max Azria giving a nod to Kate’s homeland with a tea-length dress.

My favorite look, however, comes by way of Rachel Zoe and her boundless love for Boho chic – a white blouse tucked into a maxi skirt. I’m sure she’d add 300 bracelets and a breastplate of necklaces, though people’s princess Kate would most likely eschew all that bling.

Meanwhile, poor Will has to settle for a board short and some T-shirts, the epitome of Cali style, it seems. Not that he cares — or anyone else for that matter — but if Kate Middleton goes from Alexander McQueen to wearing flip flops and beach hair, I will never forgive the West Coast. [WWD]

So what is a great Oscar gown? It’s a dress that is memorable, history-making, scene-stealing or just plain fucking perfect. With that, I just don’t get the fuss over Gwyneth‘s pink prom dress and refuse to even acknowledge that gown or the fact that she has an Oscar.

Audrey Hepburn (1954) Auds became a star and a fashion icon that night when she wore Givenchy, beginning a lifetime collaboration between the star and designer. Along with America’s heart, she took home the Best Actress trophy for her debut performance in Roman Holiday.

Elizabeth Taylor (1961) In the pantheon of great movie stars, few shine brighter or longer than Liz Taylor, thus a list of the greatest Oscar gowns could barely be considered legitimate without Liz throwing her white diamonds into the mix — I hear they’ve always brought her luck. Taylor won her first of two Oscars for BUtterfield 8 and wore this gorgeous Christian Dior number to claim her statuette. It’s generally accepted  – even by Liz herself — that Taylor won the award through a vote of sympathy after losing her husband Mike Todd in a plane crash – only to seek comfort with Debbie Reynolds’ then-husband Eddie Fisher —  and suffering a life-threatening illness during filming – at one point she was actually pronounced dead. Six years later she took home a well-deserved trophy for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

Cher (1984) Cher might have proved that she was a serious actress with her Oscar-nominated turn as Meryl Streep‘s lesbian lover in Silkwood, but she’s still fucking Cher. The icon wore Bob Mackie (natch) to the 1984 ceremony but lost only to win three years later for Moonstruck. And that gown was no less show-stopping, but didn’t have this amazing headdress.

Halle Berry (2002) Halle Berry not only became the first African American to win a Best Actress Academy Award that night, but she also launched Elie Saab into the sartorial stratosphere. This was Berry’s and Saab’s shining moment and everything since then has been an enormous letdown. On both their parts.

Barbra Streisand (1969) Eschewing tradition and helping to usher in a new generation of movie star, Babs wore a see-through sequined sailor pantsuit by Arnold Scaasi. It was a big gamble but La Streisand came out the winner and made history by tying for Best Actress with Katharine Hepburn when they won for Funny Girl and Lion in Winter, respectively. Kate chose not to attend because, honestly, it was her third (of four) Oscars and she couldn’t have been bothered.

Celine Dion (1999) Was it a stroke of genius that caused Celine Dion to turn her Christian Dior blazer back-to-front or did she simply forget to take her medication that day? Either way, Celine was memorable the year after her heart went on and on to win Best Original Song (though the award itself went to the songwriters, I. Dunno and No-one Cares).

Nicole Kidman (1997) Nikki Kids was a greenhorn on the red carpet before this Dior gown and became one of its reigning queens after. Though she gave an incredible performance the previous year in To Die For, she won in 2003 for her brilliant portrayal of Virginia Woolf in the saddest movie ever made, otherwise known as The Hours. Nominated this year for her third Oscar for Rabbit Hole, she’s got some big shoes to fill: her own.

Anjelica Huston (1976) Former Halston model Anjelica Huston looked flawless and managed to do what few people can claim: take attention away from Jack Nicholson, who won his first of three Oscars that year for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Huston would claim her own statuette, for Best Supporting Actress, a decade later for Prizzi’s Honor, also starring Nicholson.

Sharon Stone (1999) I usually spell “batshit crazy” S-H-A-R-O-N-S-T-O-N-E, but Stone looked the picture of elegance in a Vera Wang skirt paired with a Gap button down. The marriage of high and low was made in heaven that night, though I still couldn’t tell you why she was at the ceremony that year. But like most things with Sharon Stone, I don’t question it.

Björk (2001) The dress that launched a thousand jokes, Björk’s Marjan Pejoski swan dress was perhaps the last epic thing to stroll down the Oscar red carpet. Nommed for Best Original Song that year, Björk may have left empty-handed but no one will ever forget that she was there.

Who will leave tongues hanging or heads scratching at this year’s Academy Awards. Of the 10 Best Lead and Supporting Actress nominees, I’m most looking forward to Kidman, teen breakthrough Hailee Steinfeld (as well as peer Elle Fanning who will get her own nomination one day), the almost always flawless Michelle Williams and kooky Helena Bonham Carter.

Unfortunately, Natalie Portman is preggers so naturally I have no interest in what she’s wearing and just hope her water doesn’t break while accepting her award.

Zoe apparently intended to keep the collection under wraps by confiscating all cell phones “à la Tom Ford,” but Harper’s Bazaar took a giant crap on that plan when they tweeted this photo:

Speaking to WWD, Rachel dropped the gender of her baby, which she was also keeping secret (she’s having a boy) and discussed her line.

Zoe collaborated with Li & Fung for her collection of tailored suits, sequined cardigans (!), organza party dresses, suede  boots, leather-trimmed capes (!!), platform pumps in matte croc and even a le smoking jumpsuit (!!!) which will be priced from $250 to $700.

Meanwhile, I die. I’m dying. I’m dead.

Rachel hopes the collection will be sold next to Diane von Furstenberg, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang, though no retailers have been confirmed yet. But Li & Fung’s chief strategy officer, Alan Chartash, has confidence in Zoe:

“I think there’s going to be a price balance. We felt that [contemporary] is her audience. She’s already done something affordable for QVC.”

Well if QVC is on board….Now back to that dress.

Jane Keltner de Valle, fashion news director at Teen Vogue, tweeted this pic (Twitter is clearly the bane of Rachel Zoe’s existence) of a vintage dress Zoe styled in an October 2007 issue of the mag which is basically a straight-up knockoff:

3. Kerry Washington – Stunning Washington has been in critically-acclaimed fare such as Ray, The Last King of Scotland and Save the Last Dance (speaking of which, the last thing I saw Julia Stiles in was a commercial touting her as an original; I must have been mistaken), but if you add up her screen time from all of her films, she’s easily logged more exposure strolling the red carpet.

IMDb says: For Colored Girls (2010), Kerry is one of 10 women striving to survive through Tyler Perry‘s muddled direction and clunky adaptation of the Tony-winning play.

4. Vanessa Hudgens - Hudgens recently completed her most challenging role to date as Zac Efron‘s “girlfriend,” a part in which she was never truly convincing. Though known for not wearing clothes, she’s still one of Teen Vogue‘s Best Dressed Celebs of 2010.

5. Rachel Bilson – Ever since The O.C. ended, Bilson has emerged as a style icon for young girls who see her engaging performances every week in the pages of Us Weekly and In Touch.

IMDb says: Bilson will star in rom com Waiting for Forever out in February — just in time for me to slit my wrists on Valentine’s Day!

6. Emma Roberts – The extent of my knowledge regarding Emma Roberts: she’s Julia Roberts‘ niece. Oh, and she’s Eric Roberts‘ daughter. Though she’s making a name for herself as a legitimate actress, for now her last name and her emerging glamor are her only defining characteristics.

IMDb says: It’s Kind of a Funny Story (2010) I’ve actually heard good things about this dramedy about a clinically depressed teenager in an adult psych ward, but I, like everyone, haven’t seen it.

7. Demi Moore – Despite not having been in a  movie since husband Ashton Kutcher was in diapers (and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle doesn’t count so don’t even try it), stylist Rachel Zoe is always on the verge of a heart attack clamoring to dress her. For what, the supermarket? Demi always looks great, but a movie star of her stature should have at least one more good movie in her.

This year’s Out 100 has a sassy line-up, starring Ms. Martin, Ms. Moore, Mr. Maddow, and lesbian power couple Johnny Weir and Nate Berkus.

Ricky looks adorable in his say-something blazer, in what appears to be a mid-Twist. Ms. Weir made an unfortunate choice in hair, make-up, wardrobe and pose. I hope Rachel Zoe wasn’t behind this disaster.

Or behind Rachel Maddow‘s power suit. Her pose seems to be saying, playfully, “Hey, what do you want from me?” The answer: sequins.

I’m dimly aware of who Nate Berkus is, but he’s affiliated with Oprah so I’ll take it.

But the real star of this cover is one Ms. Jules Moore. Radiant as ever and on a horse…for no particular reason. A horse, I don’t get. A unicorn, however?

Gasp.

If that horse was a unicorn this cover would burst into gay flames. Bravo to Out for practicing a little restraint.

Not only did she steal the show after getting covered in chocolate fondue by delivering her famous catchphrase, but then the entire cast started dipping BA-NANAS in the chocolate.

Needless to say, she was a huge hit for the rest of taping.

And of course Rowley is wearing one of her fabulous designs from the spring 2011 runway. Her glass cabochon top is paired with a feather tutu.

“It’s very hush-hush,” a source told Us Weekly. “She’s telling people she can’t travel,” noted the insider.

And a witness said Zoe was drinking lemon-flavored water while husband Rodger was drinking champagne at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic on October 10.

Zoe‘s former assistant Brad Goreski didn’t confirm the pregnancy, but he did sound excited about it.

“We’re still close,” Goreski told Us. “I hope to be in the delivery room!”

Way to spill the beans without “confirming” anything! I really hope she eats something other than soup during these nine special months.
