SHOP Rag & Bone: Cheviot Jacket, $575

You don’t know temptation until you live a mere four blocks from the Christopher Street Rag & Bone flagship store. I stop in to browse (and cry) nearly every week, a little too hopeful for Rag & Bone’s nonexistent sales. I came across this beauty the last time I peeked my head in, and I really can’t get it off my mind. Every girl should have a basic black or dark navy blue blazer in their wardrobe at this point, but if you’re picky like I am, this incredible Cheviot Jacket might just tickle your fancy. Not only do I love the double-breasting and the lapels, I can’t get over the gorgeous contrast between the twill suiting and the woven collar. Need a little more coaxing? Well, it’s 98% wool and has lining for all those chilly New York days. Oh Santa…

INCASE YOU CARE: Rag & Bone NOT Selling Chainmail Garb From Their Fall 2009 Collection

For those of you who paid close attention to the Rag & Bone Fall 2009 collection, you probably noticed two covetable pieces: the women’s chainmail shirt and the men’s chainmail scarf (both pictured above). Before you go running over to the Christopher Street store in hopes of snagging these amazing pieces, I did the dirty work for you and was informed that these pieces are not for sale. Stopping by for a quick price-check, I learned Marcus Wainwright and David Neville used the chainmail for styling purposes only and aren’t producing either the shirt or the scarf. Devastation.
The funny part is, I wasn’t the first person who stopped by the store inquiring about the chainmail. Hmm, maybe this is an indication that these pieces SHOULD be reproduced and sold! Next season? Please.

STREET HEROES: Freja And Lilly Donaldson After Rag & Bone

I love it when models actually have style outside of other people dressing them. Freja and Lilly are so cute in their leather and white tees!

FIRST LOOK: Rag & Bone Eyewear

I was wondering when Rag & Bone would decide to do eyewear, and after falling in love with their Spring 2010 collection, I realized the wondering was over! Along with their Spring 2010 items, Rag & Bone sent their new line of tortoise patterned, tough Aviator/Wayfarer inspired eyewear down the runway. As expected, designers Marcus Wainwright and David Neville added their signature high-quality hardware and studs. So ready to get my hands on these babies!

RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Rag & Bone Spring 2010

Throw some vintage military and formalwear pieces in a bowl, mix, add a bit of modernity, and you’ve essentially got Rag & Bone Spring 2010 down to a science. Designers David Neville and Marcus Wainwright really tapped into an incredible, timeless androgyny with slouchy, somewhat drop-crotch, pants for the ladies as well as some gorgeous jackets and leathers. The men’s looks are both classic and edgy, tight pants with military trenches and flannel pants with suit-coats. All in all, the collection was another stunner to add to the mix with a majority of several year-round, wearable pieces.

MOMENTS OF STYLE Michelle Trachtenberg at Rag and Bone

Georgina made it to Rag & Bone to celebrate the designers announcement of guest designer Jessica Stam. She look absolutely delicious. Wish I was there to sneak up behind here and try to touch her hair. Yes, it’s creepy, but that’s why I’m not invited to much…
COLLAB HO: Jessica Stam To Collaborate With Rag & Bone

Jessica Stam did a little more than just host Rag & Bone’s Intermix launch party last night. According to David Neville, co-designer of Rag & Bone with Marcus Wainwright, Stam has been designing with the duo and will be part of a collaboration due out for Spring 2010. With such great personal style, I have complete faith that Stam & Bone will be a success!

RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Rag & Bone Resort 2010

Rag & Bone might be one of my favorite labels, but I think you’ll agree that their Resort 2010 collection isn’t all that impressing. It seems to me that Rag & Bone designers David Neville and Marcus Wainwright decided to play it safe with what they know “works” nowadays. We’ve seen it time and time again, the tomboy look is in, and while many designers throw in that extra “umph” to make a collection unique, Neville and Wainwright simply let the styling do all the talking. I’ll agree, the styling is great and the pieces aren’t bad at all, I just wish Rag & Bone gave us something new to shop for. I have drop-crotch pants. I have a shrunken bomber jacket. I have boyfriend jeans. I have an oversized denim shirt. I have a cropped blazer. And I’m pretty sure any girl who is on top of the fashion scene does too.

RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Rag & Bone, Fall 09

Rag & Bone has hit the runway with their Fall 09 collection! Each piece, with its own unique twist on edge, brings its own beauty and twist to the collection as a whole. Featuring jackets, skirts, shorts and more, the line tends to focus on a number of variations on blacks and grays. Don’t think you won’t be surprised, designers managed to throw in a few patterns as well.

Trendspark: Different Colored Trench Belts

Ok well the images don’t really fit what I’m trying to spark here mostly because I’m pretty sure my idea doesn’t exist yet. So please use the images above to reference what I am trying to say here. I am a huge fan of the trench coat for both men and women, but with the length and amount of your body that it covers it can easily become too much of one color. So I thought of an awesome way to solve that problem, switch the belt with a different colored one from a different trench coat. If you break up your black trench with a tan belt you have an amazing look that will change the way you rock your coat. It’s just like wearing a different colored belt with your pants. I’m looking forward to more people wearing this trend, I will be in the city hunting for mine this weekend. What do you think indies, would you rock the different colored trench belt?
Thanks to Revolve for the pictures.

Excess Baggage: Kooba Metallic, $315

I just spotted this Kooba Metallic Perforated Nelli Bag on Shopbop and it totally had me reminiscing about the Fall 2008 collections of some of my favorite indies. The hard, cold metallic look with it’s industrial rivets reminded me of pieces spotted in Rag & Bone, Ruffian and Alexander Wang. You can check out the looks this bag would look great with below and then head over to Shopbop to pick up the bag on sale for $317.50.

Indies to Watch: Tanya Dziahileva

So, you’ve all probably been wondering who the twiggy, elfish, almost alien like blonde chick taking over runways and editorials everywhere is. Well, ladies and gentlemen, meet Tanya Dziahileva, the 17-year-old Ukrainian and Polish-Belarussian hot commodity.
I actually had the opportunity to meet Ms. D at the International Model and Talent Association in 2006. At that time, she was recently picked up by IMG models and her career was just beginning, a runway show here and an fashion ad there. But now, you can’t even touch the teenage top model. Ms. D has walked in over 100 shows, including the coveted position as opener for Rag & Bone and closer for Miss Sixty. From New York to Paris and Milan, Ms. D has modeled for nearly every top designer. And snagging a spot on the cover of Russian Vogue ain’t half bad for a girl who hasn’t even hit college yet.
She might look like Tinkerbell, but her youthful, edgy look has got designers everywhere craving more, more, more!
Runway: Rag & Bone, Fall 08

When it comes to menswear it’s usually a hit or miss for me. The continuous flow of collections which “borrow from” or seem like they are “copies of” never ends and after 10 or so reviews you feel like what you’re talking about is no longer special, but just another dopplegangler in the long list of potential things to pick up at Barney’s Warehouse Sale (if the price is right).
Rag & Bone is one of the collections that start the trend. Imitated and copied, the stylish simplicity and wearability of the collection is often duplicated by other young designers.
“With the 1982 film “Blade Runner” on their minds, David Neville and Marcus Wainwright sent out a stellar lineup of strong-shouldered suits, sleek cashmere knits — new for the duo — and, of course, the requisite black leather, which they fashioned into an ultracool tunic dress.” – WWD.
Subdued with muted olives, and lots of black the collection was impressively edited and a strong outing for the recent CFDA/GQ recognized designers. As usual the outerwear shined, the trousers we’re impeccable and the companies jeanswear roots continued to fade. Check out the photos and judge for yourself.
Inspired, desired or just another on to add to the bunch?
