There is the socks+sandals combination which most people still have issues with, but I have more issues with this model’s eyebrows not matching her hair colour. :/

I really love the pleated waistline of these pants although the length doesn’t appeal much to me.

I like the whole relaxed feel that the collection is giving. On their own,they’re definitely pieces one can picture themselves wearing.

Overall, not very exciting. Let’s hope the new Spring/Summer 2011 collection won’t disappoint.

John Galliano delivered a Barbie perfect collection for resort, full of pink dresses, pink gowns, and pink accessories. Showcased in Shanghai on Saturday to coincide with the opening of that city’s new Dior boutique, Galliano kept the collection very  ‘Français.’

Roksanda Ilincic, who has previously collaborated with Gareth Pugh, presented her glamorous resort collection. The inclusion of chic metallic accessories incorporates a trendy element into the mature classic collection.

So, I guess I can’t keep ignoring Resort collections any longer, as weird as they are. This might mean I’ll have to pay attention to Pre-Fall now, too, as odd as those are as well. Whatever–2010 has brought about a batch of truly viable Resort collections, and how do I kick off a round of Runway Rundowns for any season? With Rachel Roy, of course.

Probably the one thing I love the most about Roy’s collections is her constantly evolving, yet somehow singularly individual aesthetic. Minus the Childlike Empress headgear, this resort collection felt less like something you’d wear on the sundeck of your yacht (which is why I’m loathe to discuss so many Resort collections, because they seem to reinforce that stale standard that fashion is strictly for rich white women) and more like light, fresh summer dressing for the Young Professional of Tomorrowland. And y’all already know how I feel about hot professional dressing and fashion futurism, so you know I’m all about this collection.

As always, the tailoring is meticulous and Khan consistently strikes the perfect balance between bold fabrics (in both color and pattern) and the intricate detail work that is something of a signature. Perhaps more so than any other Resort collection I’ve seen within the past few seasons, each look immediately makes me think of a fabulous event in an exotic locale where it could be worn (and, I can dream that it would be worn by me). “Derek Lam, meanwhile, has a Western inspiration: “Le Cercle Rouge,” Jean-Pierre Melville’s Seventies crime film with nary a female protagonist in sight. The blue dress is by far one of my favorite shapes of the season. What do you think indies?  Wearable or hate it.

I usually don’t like Isaac Mizrahi, and his Target collection was less than impressive. But, apparently, this season he has a new icon, Roman Emperor Augustus. Not sure how this will translate into wearable fashion, but these two pieces from his resort collection are surprisingly very cute, girly, and very wearable. If only his Target collection was similar!

80′s and 90′s fuse. So do jewel tones and black. Hearts & bows. Kimono’s and Gladiators. Business women and tarts.

It’s all very confusing. But very, very well done, as only a designer like Marc can attempt to pull something like this off without being sent to the fashion loony bin (they exist, I swear. I think it’s called T.J.Maxx.)

Congrats on creating 4 very wearable collections. Hopefully you didn’t just blow your final load prematurely.

First look from Proenza Schouler Resort 2009. The look is relaxed, oversized and just a bit androgynous, but the real question we’ve been asking ourselves is whether or not this is for the same buyer who picked up the designers past collections.  Love it, but wonder.
