While retaining his dark aesthetic, Rick Owens lightened up and smoothed out for his Spring 2010 collection. Pieces were angular and relatively clean cut, but encompassed some baggy draping as balance. Owens utilized some showstopping embellishments but a feather-ploom burst and dramatic, over the shoulder, collars.

When Rick Owens isn’t designing fabulous gothic apparel, he spends his time designing and constructing furniture. Not exactly a home furnishings collection, Owens hobby has turned into a lucrative career with pieces selling for nearly $40,000! Fur, wood and leather couches, chairs and sofas…how very Rick Owens of you Mr. Owens!

I’ve been ridiculously bored with spreads lately. As if we all haven’t seen the same models featured over and over again, photographers have certainly been lacking in the creativity department. The fashion gods must have heard my complaints, because I recently stumbled upon Reed + Rader, the collaborative photographer duo of Pamela Reed and Matther Rader. Reed + Rader incorporate futuristic graphic designs within their photography to give their work a video game/robotic/ space age vibe. Based in Brooklyn, Reed + Rader told New Wave that they’d love to work with Daft Punk, Rick Owens and Gareth Pugh…um, can you say potential for the most epic fashion spread on the planet? I really look forward to seeing this pair pump out some awesome spreads in the near future!

The latest Trendspark is straight from the runways of Rick Owens, Julius-Garden, Boris Bidjan Saberi and other avant-garde mens designers.
The look is basically the equivalent of walking out of your house with a blanket on. It will totally make you look like a Dementor ready to plauge the world of Hogwarts. Why anyone one would want to look like one of the Taliban’s bitches is beyond me, but I wouldn’t be surprised if someone attempted this come September fashion week. Watch for it, this Trendspark is closer than you think.

Odyn Vovk has been taking the fashion world by storm lately, and for good reason. They have taken a formula created by the great Rick Owens, and more or less perfected it. The images I have seen of the upcoming Fall collection have the construction and style of Owens, with the creativity of Gareth Pugh. The combination is insane. Plus the images remind me of Scorpion from Mortal Kombat.
