Being from the Barbados, Rihanna probably started  ingesting high levels of THC through her mother’s breast milk so it comes as no surprise that she likes to toke up, particularly on vacation. And it’s not like we have to worry about the smoke negatively impacting her voice since she can “oh-na-na” on — or at least near – key without really trying.

I try not to make resolutions because I never keep them, (I’ve tried going vegetarian, that always lasts a day, maybe 2)but if I were to make one it would be to take a vacation, it’s been a long time since I’ve done that.

I really like Azealia Banks, I’m also looking forward to Kendrick Lamar and Dillon Francis. All really dope up and coming artists.

The first incident stems from a run-in at a Lisbon hotel — shortly after a “legendary” performance in the Portuguese capital involving at least one throw-up break —  that prompted Rihanna to tweet this blow for freedom :

Just when she thought she had finished getting her Rihanna Luther King  on, there comes this hokey piece of journalism courtesy of Dutch fashion magazine, Jackie:

Rihanna, the good girl gone bad, is the ultimate niggabitch and displays that gladly, and for her that means: what’s on can come off. If that means she’ll be on stage half naked, then so be it. No to the big sunglasses and the pornheels, and yes to the tiger print, pink shizzle and everything that glitters. Now let’s hope she won’t beat anybody up at daycare.”

Calling anyone “niggabitch” is already terms for a beatdown of epic proportions, but to add ethnic insult to racial injury, the kids at Jackie didn’t even bother to acknowledge Rihanna’s proud Bajan roots. Shortly after realizing that this was just about the dumbest thing to come out of a magazine since FHM‘s glowing portrait of Andrej Pejic, editor-in-chief Eva Hoeke issued a half-assed apology on the mag’s Facebook page, claiming it was all a joke gone horribly wrong. Rihanna, however, was not having it and once again took to Twitter to voice her righteous indignation:

“@evajackie I hope u can read english, because your magazine is a poor representation of the evolution of human rights! I find you disrespectful, and rather desperate!! You ran out of legit, civilized information to print! There are 1000?s of Dutch girls who would love to be recognized for their contributions to your country, you could have given them an article. Instead, u paid to print one degrading an entire race! That’s your contribution to this world! To encourage segregation, to mislead the future leaders to act in the past! You put two words together…@evajackie with the intent of abasement, that made no sense…’***** BITCH’?!….Well with all respect, on behalf of my race, here are my two words for you…FUCK YOU!!!”

Methinks RiRi may have had a little help drafting this Dutch doucehbag diatribe based solely on its level of coherence, but that is neither here nor there. For the first time in, well, forever I’m impressed with Rihanna. Aside from that bit of musical perfection known as “We Found Love,” Rihanna has given me a new reason not to dislke her. Dammit. Adele is up for the biggest prizes of the night, Album (21), Record and Song of the Year (“Rolling in the Deep”) — I mean, the RIAA might as well just start engraving her name on those golden gramophones now and call it a day. Kanye’s masterwork, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was somehow snubbed for an Album of the Year nod (god save the assistant who had to deal with that fallout), though Ye will go against himself in the Rap Album of the Year category — Watch the Throne, his collaboration with Jay-Z and Fantasy are both nominated.

Rihanna‘s Loud (no comment), Lady Gaga‘s Born This Way, Foo Fighters‘ Wasting Light, and Bruno Mars‘ Doo Wop & Hooligans are also up for Album of the Year. Joining Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” and Kanye’s “All of the Lights” (both highly deserving) in the Record of the Year category are Bon Iver‘s “Holocene,” Bruno Mars’ ”Grenade,” Mumford & Sons‘ ”The Cave,” and Katy Perry manages to sneak her way in yet again with “Firework.”

Shockingly absent from this year’s mutual admiration society is Grammy staple, Beyoncé. 4, in my opinion her best solo effort to date, received only one nomination for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for “Party” — not the video version, but the good one with André 3000. Of course, Queen Bey has 16 Grammys already and she’ll probably be busy giving birth to her alleged baby come Grammy night anyway.  Her chief rival for diva supremacy, one Lady Gaga, only came out with three nods this year, and not even one for music video (if not for “Born This Way,” at least “Judas,” kids).  Meanwhile, late chanteuse and 5-time winner Amy Winehouse garnered a posthumous nomination for her duet with Tony Bennett, “Body and Soul.”

The last category anyone could possibly care about is that combination gift/curse, Best New Artist. Nicki  Minaj is the frontrunner based simply on popularity and record sales, and is the only female solo artist nominated this year. She will face off against Bon Iver, The Band Perry, J. Cole, and Skrillex.

It’s been a banner year for RiRi. Not only did she land one of the worst Vogue covers of all time a cover of Vogue, the pop tart just broke Madonna‘s record — thus wiping out the entirely heavenly host — for the fastest popstar to reach 20 Hot 100 top 10 singles — an awkward record, but a record nonetheless.

Racking up those top 10 hits in six years and four months, Rihanna beats Her Madgesty by a good five months. Luckily, she’s still behind the all-time record holder — The Beatles (duh) — who did it without breaking a sweat in two years and seven months.

Anyway, her musical accomplishments — or lack thereof —  aside, Rihanna gets down and dirty in a sexy photoshoot for Esquire, blah blah blah, she’s not wearing clothes what else is new? Photos and video below. I’m bored. [Esquire]

I don’t know who keeps trying to make Kristen Stewart happen, but whoever they are, they are relentless. She is a trendsetter breaking all of the rules. When I think of her I instantly think bright colors. Funny that her website is called “mypinkfriday.com”. Bright, hot pink instantly comes to mind when I think of her! “All About Town” by Color Club would look great on a Stiletto long nail with a design or diamond overlay. Nicki can pull off a bold, fun, spunky nail.

2. Lady Gaga

Gaga has married fashion and music and taken it to another level. She is dark and edgy so I would go with a long Stiletto nail coated in Essie’s “Licorice” and then add a three dimensional design to it that I would create to match her outfit. She always works with a top notch fashion team, so I would definitely feed off of what amazing look they put together for her.

3. Rihanna

This girl is always changing her style. To match her current striking signature red hair I would do a permanent French with Red Glitter. The Rainbow Collection of Young Nails has a perfect red “Surprise” with glitter that would accentuate her red hair. Fun and sassy!

4. Ke$ha

She has a very unique, dark yet funky side. I would love to do Aquarium nails on her. This is a very complicated process to encase liquid inside the nail, but it’s super cool. Young Nails provides the proper acrylics to pull this off. Whether she’s wearing jeans or one of her avant-garde type performance pieces she could pull it off.

5. Katy Perry

Katy’s style changes often. She can be everything from lady-like to futuristic and over the top. Always up for the creative I’d love to use silvers, blues, chromes or metallic colors on her. Essie’s “Fair Game” or Sinful Colors “Secret Admirer” would be fun and edgy. To create the futuristic feeling I would add wire on top of the nail or through it giving a robot effect.

I’ll be honest this is the best we’ve seen Rihanna since she’s decided to go for the Kool-Aid red look. Hopefully this is a precursor to her Vogue and Esquire covers also coming out soon.

Following the announcement that Rihanna will be Vogue Italia‘s “Woman of the Year,” FashionIndie put together this retrospective from her last shoot with the Italian mag, with her  looking weirdly like Victoria Beckham for their September 2009 issue.The editorial shot by Steven Klein is entitled “Extreme Couture,” and we would expect nothing less from Rihanna. Bondage, sparkle pasties, pouring water out of back packs – it’s all there.

The new article from this year’s magazine calls her the “jewel in the crown of Jay-Z‘s stable” (Stable? Let’s not even get started on the fact that crowns and horses have nothing to do with each other), and also drops her full name, uddenly we’re glad that she went with her middle name. Two Robyn‘s with amazing music careers would just get a too confusing.

The magazine refers to her as an “independent, energetic fighting spirit” and claims that  ”she is currently the undisputed best contender to the role of queen of pop. You might wonder – wasn’t that supposed to be Lady Gaga‘s title? Not quite.” Them’s fighting words, Franca.

Strange article aside, Rihanna‘s black and white editorial from last year is still as fierce as she is, and we’re loving it.

Though I live by Unzipped and gave Bravo‘s The Fashion Show a shot (even before the inclusion of Iman), once the mandals came out I just couldn’t keep my silence any longer.

2. Christian Audigier

Audigier would land on this list just for creating Ed Hardy, but religiously wearing it only cements his inclusion.

3. Vivienne Westwood

You know Crazy Cat Lady from The Simpsons? Dye her hair Carrot Top orange, throw her in a combat boot and call her Vivienne Westwood.

4. John Galliano

I’m less offended by his ringing endorsement of Hitler than by his penchant for gay pirate dandyism.

5. Kate Mulleavy

Turns out you can go wrong with all black, whereas a pop of color and a show of effort are always in fashion.

6. Jeremy Scott

Scott’s look says to me “Club kid who kept partying long after the trash was swept up” only Scott then rummaged through said trash for this jacket.

7. Patricia Field

Though she practically single-handedly created the fashion icon known as Carrie Bradshaw, Pat Field can give off too a bit too much sex in the city. Though kudos for rocking that Jessica Rabbit red hair better and before Rihanna.

8. Anna Sui

I saw Anna Sui on the street the other day…though it could’ve been a bag lady. Either way her China Bang was stunning.

9  Karl Lagerfeld, Perhaps a controversial choice, but the gay vampire look sometimes leaves me…cold.

10. Betsey Johnson

There’s nothing I want more than to see Betsey Johnson doing cartwheels in a ballerina tutu at age 90. Just because it’s bad doesn’t mean it doesn’t feel good.

*Andre Leon Talley wins the award for best purple tent. As always, his volumes are amazing.

Let’s take a look at the Best Dressed of the night. This category has quite a bit of people, as it should, for fashion’s biggest event. These were the As and high Bs, the working girls.

Shalom Harlow is my pick for BEST DRESSED in Marchesa. This is what the Met Ball is all about – she looks breathtaking in that gown.

I almost fell over when I saw Christina Ricci in Zac Posen. She never ages a day and looks super sexy in this sheer number.

I found Mary-Kate’s dress underwhelming, but Ashley Olsen looks ravishing in vintage Dior Haute Couture. The whole look is perfect.

Elle Fanning looks like a little couture doll in Valentino. She is so outshining her sister, it’s not even fair.

Rihanna has been looking haggard lately, so I was pleasantly surprised at how elegant she was in this striking Stella McCartney gown.

Iman, also in Stella McCartney, turned it out in a metallic gold jumpsuit. A little draggy, a lot amazing.

Karolina Kurkova in a spring 2011 Jean Paul Gaultier lace legging-dress creation. If the models can’t do it, who can?

I love this Prabal Gurung gown and funky jewelry on Ciara. White could be difficult to pull off at the ball, but she did it right.

Even though Crystal Renn is too skinny for my taste, she is an absolute vision in Alexander McQueen. I need my hair to look like this.

After getting ready in a Barneys window yesterday, Daphne Guiness showed up in McQueen. Perfect, amazing, stuns.

I loved Ginnifer Goodwin‘s look from the moment  I saw it. Then I realized it was custom Topshop. Damn she makes it look good.

Naomi Campbell looks like the queen she is in custom McQueen. She wears the sedatives well too.

Hamish Bowles looks like a true gentleman in custom McQueen. Love it from head to toe.

I always wait with baited breath to see what Blake Lively is wearing. She obviously did not disappoint in a Chanel toga.

New York’s best couple showed up looking better than ever. Beyonce is working that Emilio Pucci gown like whoa.

Queen Bitch Anna Wintour gave her best smile to the camera and looks like a shiny grandiose statue in Chanel.

On to the Most Boring of the night. On any other occasion, these folks would have looked great (probably). Unfortunately, this also means they’re the Cs of the Met Ball.

I’m sleeping. Zoe Saldana is usually among the best dressed. Why did she choose this boring Calvin Klein for the biggest fashion night of the year?

Leighton Meester is amazing, but she has trouble getting it right. Different shoes and hair would have done this Louis Vuitton dress more justice.

I love this Michael Kors dress on Emma Roberts, but she has the body to wear something more over the top on a night like this.

Madonna, the Material Girl herself, definitely could have done better than this Stella McCartney dress. Pretty, but boring.

I’m actually quite obsessed with this Miu Miu dress Michelle Williams is wearing. But I would wear this to a nice dinner, not a gala.

And now ladies and gentleman, the Worst Dressed of the night. These are the Ds and Fs of the Met Ball, the creme de la creme of mistakes.

ARGH! Christina Hendricks used to dress so well! This Carolina Herrera gown is an unflattering fit and color on her.

Oh dear. Hate to say it Alicia Keys, but it looks like you’re wearing a giant turd instead of Givenchy. Brown jacket AND dress is NOT fly.

Jennifer Lopez looks like a halfway plucked bloody chicken. Matchy-matchy lipstick, bag and Gucci is a no go.

I thought Chloe Sevigny would make McQueen look good, but I was wrong. The hair is awful and the dress fits like she grabbed it off some rack.

Sorry to say it Kate Hudson, but this Stella McCartney is not a cute pregnant lady dress. And whatever is on your head isn’t working either.

Nooooo! In the rush of preparing for the gala, Lucy Liu forgot to get a wax! Oh wait, that’s just her looking blech in Vionnet.

I hope everyone enjoying looking at the red carpet photos from the 2011 Met Gala as much as I. Who was your best and worst dressed of the night?

2006 – Here’s a young Hayden in her long Heroes hair, and her millionth cheerleader uniform, (ahem, Bring it On 2: All or Nothing, I Love You Beth Cooper, and more).

2008 – Her hair took a slight trim as Beth Cooper, whom the awkward boy loves. The change was hardly noticeable.

2009 – And, she started hacking away. She raised the cut to shoulder grazing and layered it á la The Rachel.

2010 – A Rihanna bob? Seriously Hayden? Sure, she’s throwing off the whole teenage look, and boy, did she have to do something. Even Jennifer Aniston hated The Rachel. But she went a little severe for her facial structure.

2011 – Hayden SCRE4Med long pixie as attempts to escape death. SPOILER: Her hairstylist gets stabbed to death by his own shears.

How do you like Hayden’s hair best?

I’m not really a fan of the neckline on the Roland Mouret gown — I’m just gonna say it, her boobs look weird. But then again all boobs look weird to me…

I do, however, enjoy the hair, although it reminds me a bit of Rihanna‘s April cover. Two consecutive face-obstructing dos could be a potential don’t.

It was like you were the walking embodiment of fierce. What inspires your style?

@marian_kihogo: thank you so much. Over the winter it was all about the faux fur and fuchsia lip. Something so rock’n'roll glam about it

my style has always been directed by the emotive plus a love of the 70′s,sharp tailoring & a need to express a present moment

I’m inspired by everything and nothing; a film, a moment, a woman on the street, a song, a place, inspiration is all around

@marian_kihogo: I think it is because the UK has always been known for experimentation, that certain spirit of fearless willingness to create

the fashion scene here is such a mix. The slick established luxury – eg Burberry to the clever wit – Giles etc

we are fashion’s ‘enfant terrible’ but it has birthed incredible talent

@fashionindie: I agree. In NY it feels like you can always wear anything or try anything, but there’s no sense of rebellion. Are u a rebel?

@marian_kihogo: Im most defo a rebel in a sense.I’ve always lived by the ideal that the mass market is myself.what I want to wear for me goes

but I think that rebel is in every creative,a need to create a new path, to dress to pls self. No real creative can be a clone

@fashionindie: Rebel w/ a cause. Do u have any labels you absolutely can’t live w/o? Or are u more of an eclectic anything goes kind of gal?

so if it moves me it is a done deal. All I ever bought fashion wise challenged me mentally/emotionally.style is emotive

have become faves over time because I resonate with their vision, aesthetic and journey as creatives

@marian_kihogo: there is patriotic pride attached as I think the Royal family is a beautiful thing. So for me, a new princess is exciting

there is a feeling of being all part of an extended bridal party as it were. Like one big party celebrating with them

@fashionindie: I know here, our 1st Lady has a tremendous influence on fashion. Will it be the same for Kate?

@marian_kihogo: I think Kate will have an influence on fashion. Whether she will have as much effect as Princess Diana remains to be seen

I know a few people who are already tipping her as icon, there are those who went out and bought the Issa engagement dress

@fashionindie:  That dress was cute and all but Di’s a huge legacy 2 live up 2. So tell me about your blog? How’d you get started?

@marian_kihogo: my blog was actually the internet version of a scrapbook I’d compiled over yrs. It had fabric scraps,images, quotes etc

if I found something thought provoking/inspiring, it went into that tattered book. When I moved and lost it, the blog was born

@marian_kihogo: I started styling at 14,my friends mother looked a mess for dinner. I cut up her designer dress. She became my 1st client.

@fashionindie: When dressing a client, do you buy what you think THEY would like or what YOU would want to see them in?

@marian_kihogo: that’s a great question. It is always about what they like, what image they want to have the public see.

with clients we work to suit an image they want to create-develop-maintain.I offer tips/ideas but they must be happy

so it is a very symbiotic relationship. They provide the desired dream image and style icons, I bring the fuel with ideas

@fashionindie: Okay, for my final question. Music and fashion always go hand in hand for me. What are you listening to these days?
