I feel new talent rising. With proportions that reform the body, Munsoo Kwon‘s menswear has a sense of humor with strict attention to detail. These are basics that will change the look of an entire outfit without overpowering. He has apprenticed under Helmut Lang, Robert Geller and Thom Browne, and his philosophy aligns. Bet you didn’t know the CFDA Award statuette was called the Trova. Also bet you didn’t know that Trova has his very own Twitter account. Diane von Furstenberg descended from the heavens in a gilded chariot drawn by 7 wrap-dress-attired muses last night to deliver the nominees for the 2011 Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Awards. Among this year’s honorees, Lady Gaga will be recognized for the Fashion Icon award and Marc Jacobs will receive the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. But he’ll have to compete against Alexander Wang and Proenza Schouler’s Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for Womenswear Designer of the Year.

Ann Taylor celebrated the opening of their gorgeous new concept store on Thursday in the Flatiron District designed by S. Russell Groves. GQ’s designer of the year Billy Reid showed his latest Fall 2010 collection at the Mac & Milk venue. The collection is classic Americano, totally loved it. Nice choice GQ, and way to follow up after Robert Geller last season.
