In case your conscious (or wallet) can’t handle the truth about fur, Adrienne Landau’s looking out for you. She has a stunning line of faux furs, A by Adrienne Landau, that she’ll be selling TONIGHT on the Home Shopping Network! She’s on at 10PM. Also on the lineup with her is Robert Verdi, selling sunglasses that curve, just so, to the top of the head.

Incidentally, it was right after I asked FashionIndie neighbor Robert Verdi for a ride in his most official NYFW Fashion Police car for a lift back to the loft. With a sigh and a tilt of the head, sunglasses unbudged, he informed me they were heading uptown for another show. Sigh, indeed. So I turned afoot, and a few steps later a woman started to talk to me, about my outfit, naturally, this is Fashion Week. After my introduction, she said, “I’m Adrienne Landau.” A warm smile of recognition crossed my face, then we pondered the prospect of splitting a cab to the Garment Center. No cabs? Fine, the subway then. “It’s faster.”

What kind of fur really gets noticed?

Fox. The long hair really attracts. Colored fur draws a lot of people, especially vibrant jewel tones. I have a whole jacket that’s mixed color; a combination of textures.

Who is your biggest designer crush?
Dennis Basso, he’s a good friend. His collection this season was beautiful. It had a younger spin. So lux!

What kind of fur will you never wear in the subway?
I don’t think there’s any fur I wouldn’t wear in the subway. I have to be somewhere fast!

What piece have you been wearing all season?
I made this really big, really, really, really lightweight fox jacket. It’s weightless! Makes you feel like nothing’s on. It looks like sable even though it’s not.

What do you do to pay respects to the animals, aside from making sure they look eternally beautiful?
We make sure everything is from places where they were treated well. We’re very careful about that.

After the interview, she asked if I’d come to the studio the next day and write up the collection inspiration, “You look kooky enough to do it.” Now, without further ado, to the Adrienne Landau Fall 2012 show. (And my fur bartering tool begins)

A collection in three parts:

This collection takes you on a journey from a naturally wild mountainous terrain, through the cold opulence of Russia, and to the sleek minimalistic New York streets. Within every woman lies these facets in opposition, yet each part requires a layering staple, a versatile standout and a piece that speaks directly to the heart.

Adrienne Landau Fall 2012 begins atop a mountain at sunset, colors dancing in the sky, playing in the wind as the free air rustles a melange of textures in harmony. Raccoon highlights leopard printed rabbit as sable tails fringe fox shoulders. A cropped Mongolian takes in the hues of the falling sun. They brighten the wild spirit of the wearer.

Emerging from the wild, the collection refines as it head north to opulent Russia. With dreams of gilded palaces, the hues shift toward jewel tones. A multicolor fox jacket is pieced from vibrant vintage. Rabbit is printed rose. Skirts of sequins are trimmed Mongolian. The pieces are more versatile than an evening gown and command attention at a glance.

Go west to New York as Adrienne Landau addresses the minimalist within us all. A mink motorcycle jacket nods downtown as a leopard printed mink peacoat winks uptown. A knit rabbit cape appeals to every corner of the island. A mini skirt with the classic Landau sable tail fringe and croc riding pants become the special dress up-or-down pieces that flourish in your wardrobe. Visions of little black jackets, the kind a New Yorker can't live without, are luscious and subdued. There is a piece in the Adrienne Landau Fall 2012 for every woman, every mood, every whim, whether wild, opulent or minimal. All are luxurious.

Now having seen the collection we’ve been going bananas over for months, here’s the scoop:

The collection was chock full of hit and misses, but admittedly mostly hits. And though there were the luxuries of pomegranate boozing whilst shopping, and indulging in dime sized hors d'oeuvre of petite spaghetti and meatball, spicy tuna tartar and more, the lines for the dressing rooms were no picnic. Many, like me, went rogue and tried on dresses over the clothes in the midst of the crowd. It werqs. Check the best and the worst of the collection and WHO was shopping ahead.

Theophilus London, Mickey Boardman and Robert Verdi got their diffusion shopping ON.

These lackluster hearts lacked love. In fact, they are some of the only items to remain in the store after it was ravaged by fashion bloggers, editors and the dedicated early bird shopper (even through today). Though the 90's are decidedly back, no one seems to be loving the heart print.

This outrageous palm-glam classic versace print translated best in the collection.

Of all the prints Versace could have mustered, this one lagged a bit. Sure the two-tone is kind of awesome, but it looks childish and too cheap in the first person.

This print was definitely the star of the men's department, which was considerably smaller than women's. The majority of the men's options were solid blinding pink and aqua, and studded black. This jumps out if you want something optical.

This little leather dress is stunningly studded and form fits to just the right shape. It's a little splurgier than the rest of the finds, but the $200-range for Versace still ain't bad.

At the end of the day, this shopper's hat summed up the experience. Versace x H&M was pretty epic, but seriously...

1. My brand spankin’ new Macbook pro, that I would have died without. Frequented that AOL StyleList blogger’s haven with it on the regs.

2. Multiple sparkly Milani nail polish. I did my nails everywhere, painting over layers to change up the colors constantly. There was a rotating slew of colors that cycled through the bag this week.

3. Lipsticks: Illamasqua: The Box (rouge), YSL fucsia, Iman (Pat Field‘s) Jaguar

4. Business cards. Gave out about 75, received at least as many.
5. Several WWDs and Daily Front Rows. I do admit I love reading the Daily.
6. Tickets. Many. Some I’ve disposed of, some made it. Some standing, some seats. None actually with my name on it.

8. ESSENTIAL: Blackberry. Can’t believe it took me this long to talk about it. Maybe because I’ve done so much damage on it that it actually just broke. Fashion Week broke my phone…. now…. iPhone?
9. Because that’s not an iPhone, that’s an iPod touch and it’s been keeping me cat walking myself from place to place.
10. Biggie camera. I spent 3 years, that’s 6 seasons in the PIT with this guy. Not this year. Now I just got to use it on celebs backstage, at presentations and the like.

I used the camera to take amazing photos all over NYC this Fashion Week.The Coke Zero is used solely for caffeine purposes but Lord knows I dont need any empty calories. I have two pairs of sunglasses to switch up my eyewear but maintain my air of mystery. The Marc Jacobs ones were gifted to me by stylist Robert Verdi as was the Kenneth Cole cologne, Reaction (the scent is fresh and young).  Finally the latest copy of VMAN for the train and cab rides all over the city. And yes I still have the dollar that was in his mouth.

1. Instant photos make great place cards- take your guests photo with a Fuji Instax camera as they arrive and set their spot on the table.

2. Cored apples can make great candle holders.

3. Mismatch dessert plates then mix with all white dishes for a change at the table.

4. Crayons and paper are a creative way to keep kids at the table.

5. Instead of preparing dessert yourself, serve mini cupcakes and have your guests decorate their own.

6. Use spread rose petals as your table runner.

8. Make a red holiday treat station with red colored treats such as red Twizzlers, Swedish fish, red M&M’s etc…

KEEP DRY: Considering that fashion week was a rainy mess, Verdi suggested showcasing your NYFW love with a Mercedes-Benz [@MBUSA_news] Umbrella. Available only at the tents and Verdi’s Luxe Lab, the umbrella kept me dry and looking good.

KEEP LOOKING GOOD: When trying to look by best for photos, I referred to Nigel Barker’s Beauty Equation [@BeautyEquation] which provided much needed tips on posing for the paparazzi outside the shows.

KEEP YOUR EYES HAPPY: The week supply of 1Day Acuvue TrueEye [@Acuvue] really helped Becks who is a regular contact wearer. Knowing she could through out her eyes every night really made her love putting them in in the morning.

KEEP CLEANSED: A regular cleanse really helped combat the full day schedules of passed food and champaign at Fashion Week. Thank god for Blue Print Cleanse [@BPCleanse] and their supply of delicious drinks. Weight gain averted. The company also recently launched Project Snack Time, a charitable initiative to get healthy snacks into New York City schools. Loves it!!!

KEEP YOUR DENIM STYLISH: Vintage Revolution Jeans [@vrjeans] come in an insane amount of colors and washes and served The Indies right through fashion month.  Definitely the go-to denim for those looking for a little more personality in their premium jeans.

KEEP :YOUR HAIR APPOINTMENTS: Blow outs at the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spas [@RedDoorSpas] were a must for the female members of FashionIndie.com and Verdi was so boss for offering us the invite. Becks even walked out with a new shade of bubble gum lipstick from salons 5th Avenue outpost.

KEEP YOUR LIPS KISSABLE: Stila Cosmetics [@StilaCosmetics] is really upping their game with a new addition to their CRUSH Lip Stain. Made from Acai berry extract, the latest CRUSH comes jammed filled with antioxidants.

KEEP YOUR NAILS LOOKING GOOD: Looking good for fashion week requires more than a quick trip down Madison. Fortunately Ginger + Liz [@gingerandliz] gave us just the right treat for keeping our cute cuticles colored. Their collection of Metallic and Mauve nail polishes really upped the cool factor of our outfits.

KEEP IT XRATED: Throughout all of fashion week, I searched for X-Rated Fusion Liqueur. I was introduced to the mixer at Verdi’s Fashion Week get together and became obsessed. Glad I finally found the bubbly at a Wine Shop near my Upper East Side digs. We’ve been inseparable ever since.

KEEP REMODELING: Farrow & Ball, a luxury home design resource provided Verdi with a color wheel featuring the brands most popular paint colors and 4 little cans of paint to play with. The forecasted must decorate colors include Down Pipe, Cooks Blue, Mahogany and Brinjal. Haven’t used my paint cans yet, but considering we’re redecorating La Casa Saynt.

KEEP UP: To get through the fashion week energy slumps, Robert Verdi suggested picking up a single serve coffee fix from Nescafe Dolce Gusto Piccolo [@dolcegustous]. A cute little coffee maker that fits on my editors desk. There’s nothing more I can ask for.

KEEP IT CORDLESS: Verdi always manages to include a few items to keep his friends looking crisp and clean including a Panasonic 360 Freestyle Cordless Iron [@PanasonicDirect]. Handheld and cordless, this makes the perfect travel friendly device for fashionites who need a little primp. The folks behind the iron were also kind enough to introduce us to the Panasonic Massage Sofa Chair. To say I need one is an understatement.

KEEP IT CLASSIC: Coca-Cola [@CocaCola] was a major player at Verdi’s Luxe Lab this season. Verdi designed a collection of Fashion Pops inspired by Coco Cola, Coke Zero, Diet Coke and Sprite.

KEEP IT ACCESSORIZED: Linea Pelle [@LineaPelle] has been dominating the bag world with their suede and leather accessories, so I was excited when Verdi introduced us to the collection of highly covetable purses. The brand gave us a suede tassle key chain, which is currently being rocked by a very lucky intern.

KEEP HYDRATED: Having Smart Water [@SmartWater]and Vitamin Water at our disposal during fashion week was a must. Unfortunately, they’re hard to find in other cities, but in NY, they reigned supreme. I live on Smart Water, so I was glad to have a few free bottles delivered by Verdi.

KEEP THE PUPS HAPPY: The Shabby Dog [@theshabbydog] is an LA based puppy accessory brand that has created some really innovative leashes designed for the woman who always has a Fido around. One of their innovations is a leash that connects to your purse and handbag, giving you a hands-free experience when walking your pups.

KEEP WARM: When running around from tent to showroom, from cab to runway, from Mac & Milk to Lincoln Center, you encounter some pretty wicked weather. Fortunately, Verdi provided us with a little warmth from Tulle [@Tulle4Us] in the form of an ivory coat. Becks has already begun purchasing fall accessories to match.

KEEP IT ANNA STYLE: Anna Wintour is notorious for keeping her shades on when watching from front row. We decided to follow suit with a pair of Jee-Vice Sunglasses [@JeeVice]. Verdi dropped them in our hands and they haven’t left our face since.

Robert Verdi’s Fashion Week Survival Tips were ones we definitely referred to throughout our adventures in fashion. Thanks to all the folks at Verdi’s, including the very on top of shit Ashley Mallinson.

The jeans are engineered with patent pending technology and innovative construction and fabric to help the wearer “look 10 pounds lighter in 10 seconds” with comfort and confidence. Miraclebody Jeans, which recently launched in the US, features premium denim, tops, skirts and other shaping apparel from sizes 2 to 18.

I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical when I was given a pair of jeans, dark skinny denim in size 6 (they run true to size). But when I tried them on, I was surprised to see how smoothly they glided on, how easily they buttoned ( I usually have to do a bit of shimmying), and how great they looked, despite being a bit high waisted. They were a PERFECT fit, long enough for my tall legs, dark enough to wear with anything, and skinny enough but not at all tight. In fact, the built in shapewear DID make me look 10 pounds lighter!

I recommend these jeans to anyone, no matter what size or shape, these have quickly become my fave jeans.

I’ve noticed the underlying argument in many of my “Hot Or Not”s is on how feminine a man can be without looking ridiculous. This time it pertains to man clutches.

Growing up in suburban New Jersey meant that the only acceptable bags men can  carry are backpacks, gym bags, and duffel bags. None of these are really fashionable which became extremely obvious to me after I moved to NYC.  When I walk down the street I am no longer surprised to see men carrying shoulder bags without any worry. Most days I can been seen walking the streets in my Pendelton inspired FEED tote bag.

I was recently gifted a basic black man clutch from Coach and wondered whether it was cool for not to wear in public. Now, I would never wear a clutch on a daily basis. It would only be worn on a night out where my pocket space is limited and I can’t lug around my brightly colored tote.

Is it OK to wear it at such an occasion? Is it even acceptable to  wear during the daytime?

The event was held in celebration of Bacardi’s most recent release of their pre-mixed strawberry daiquiri and piña colada mixes.  Both of them are super low-cal (if that’s important in your alcohol) and pretty delicious.

Let me preface this post with one statement: I LOVE Robert Verdi. I wish there was a less corny way of expressing it but there isn’t. I think my main obsession with him comes from my idea that we are very similar. We are both from Jersey, both have birthdays at the end of August, and both will let anything come out of our mouths (Is it weird that I know his birth date and birthplace?) I digress to say that I am a huge fan of his show on LOGO, the LGBT television network. Being a small town boy from Jersey, I was pretty amazed by the awesome midtown penthouse where the event was hosted, known as “The Luxe Laboratory.” Complete with amazing decor, a fridge full of drinks, liquor, food, and good people, everything about the setting was perfect. The event was sponsored by Crumbs Cupcakes, so there were many tempting mini cupcakes, which I of course downed. I got to meet PJ, who is just as amazing as his tweets. I also had the pleasure of meeting Ashley, who is my newest crush (if you think she is funny on the show, in real life she will have you rolling). Finally, I, of course, got to meet the man of the hour, Robert Verdi.

We all sat down in the lavish living room and watched the side stitching finale. I personally loved this season for many different reasons. With New York Fashion Week over and done, we take a minute to look back at the the ten things that really helped us get through the madness. Check out our list of ten fashion week saviors after the jump.

1. Robert Verdi’s Luxe Laboratory – Not only did Verdi provide bloggers like us a place to rest and write while in between shows, he also fed us, got us drunk and provided us with VIP transportation courtesy of Mercedes-Benz. I’m definitely going to miss the daily manicures courtesy of Ginger and Liz and blow-outs from the stylist with Phyto Hair Care.

2. The Art of Shaving Shaving Kit – The good folks at The Art of Shaving were nice enough to send me the perfect kit for keeping my beard looking managed. This four piece set kept my bristles at bay and the clean shave ensured that ever double kiss to fashion peeps didn’t result in razor burn.

3. Skin 1 by Dr. Gram – A long time favorite of Becks and I, Dr. Gram’s collection of skin care ensured that we were always fresh faced for the tents and could wash the city off our face each night. The face scrub is equally good as a body scrub, so if you’re looking for a product that will leave both your cheeks kissably soft (and acne free) this is it.

4. iPhone iSkins – The perfect accessory for me cause I’m so accident prone, the iSkins cover is also good for the vain. It includes a high gloss mirrors that allows you to check yourself out before any necessary photo ops.

5. David Barton Gym – After a long day between Milk and the Tents, a nice sweat was the perfect way to burn off steam and review collections on my iPhone. Plus nearly every master of publicity seems to work out here.  Just a few days ago I spotted Pablo Olea (Jeremy Scott’s publicist) steaming in the sauna and my favorite representative from Gucci, Alex Gobo getting  in a few reps. Seriously, the perfect spot for any fashion person to workout and network.

6. Cargo Pro Picks Collection – This perfectly packaged collection has everything you need in order to touch up during the middle of the day, especially when you’re forced to do touch-ups in the porter potties outside the Bryant Park Tents. Yes, this is the glam that fashion writers rarely reflect on.

7. Sephora by O.P.I Nailpolish in Metro Chic – Gray nail polish is my current obsession. It stays on, seems masculine enough, and literally matches everything in my closet. I couldn’t have gotten through fashion week without a coat of this stuff.

8. Cinzia Sunglasses – Sunglasses and sitting front row of fashion week go together like cock and balls. When Cinzia sent me a pair to rock for fashion week, they quickly became my default. Not only did these cover up the massive bags that formed under my eyes from 8 days of straight after-parties and drunkenness, but they were perfect for letting me sleep during shows that just weren’t worthy of my attention.

9. Stiruppz - The PR bitches for these contact me all the time to write about them but I totally thought they were a joke. That was until I tried them and now I’m hooked. I’m a complete boot snob, so anything that makes it easy for me to slip my jeans inside and keep them there, I’m on it. These do just that. Get them if you’d actually like to look like you styled yourself when you left the house rather than like a Zoe-aphobe.

10. APPLE!!!! – You guys and your amazing products. Everyone at La Casa Saynt is on the Apple diet. iPhones, iPods, iMacs, iBooks, Apple TV for watching recorded fashion shows on the big screen. Apple was the unofficial sponsor of this and every fashion week. Muchos gracias Steve Jobs. I’m officially your bitch.

Now in its eighth year, the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation is proud to recognize the seven recipients of the 2009 awards: Cushnie et Ochs, Lyn Devon, Matthew Ames, and OHNE TITEL in the women’s design category; CORPUS in the men’s design category; and Monique Péan in the accessories category. EDFF also introduces its inaugural Sustainable Design category winner, Bodkin Brooklyn.

These future stars of fashion each received a $25,000 grant to help showcase their collection at New York Fashion Week this February. Past winners include Zac Posen, Proenza Schouler, Peter Som, Derek Lam, Thakoon, Rodarte, Erin Fetherston and Alexander Wang.

Winning designer Yujin Song

The Project Runway stars didn’t take top prize at Mondays Gen Art Styles event.

Yujin Song won for ready-to-wear, Timothy Franklin for menswear, and Ninaki‘s architectural jewels for best accessories. Maria Potesta took home the prize in the avant garde category. Louissa Parris won the Botox Design Vision Award for Eveningwear with soft, color-blocked dresses that had guests enchanted.

Hate to admit it but I really like the piping on this jacket. Damn it. I need one.
