Robyn has been killing it since the mid nineties. Her love from the gays has been ever strong and present, while love from the rest of the population is always on the slow and steady rise. Her style is wonderfully wacky and way more wearable than that of Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga. She dances on her own and you can bet it’s to her own damn beat. It’s officially the future, but color us disappointed. We’ve got a black president, handheld computers and weapons of mass destruction, but what about what else was promised to us by sci-fi films and Saturday morning cartoons. We see nary a flying car. But more importantly, where are the robots, the androids and the bionic men and women? On the one hand, they’re the harbingers of humankind’s downfall. But on the other, they’re the sexy, sentient superbeings here to fulfill our every desire. A good idea in theory, but amazingly creepy in practice. These robots, however, keep our hope of a future rife with robosexual adventure alive and mechanically kicking.

During a writing break at SNL last week, cast member Taran Killam decided to put on a pink fuzzy sweater and reproduce the entire dance Robyn performs in her Call Your Girlfriend video. Recruiting the help of other writers to shine flashlights for a strobe effect, the duplication is actually quite good. Naturally, we have been obsessing over it the last few days. Sleeping in a rigid terminal seat, shopping over-priced duty free perfume and spending $15 on some stale excuse for a salad – if you’ve ever been stuck in the airport before, this is probably how your day played-out. Our love for Robyn up in FashionIndie is pretty damn fierce. And it just reached a new level with the making of her Indestructible video. If you’ve seen the music video, you’ll know it features what some might call soft-core erotica. So you might not have noticed that feat of architectural fashion that Robyn wears as she writhes and sings in a tubes of flowing colors. Those didn’t just make themselves. It was the brainchild of Australian designer Lucy McRae. She spent two years developing this technology as she worked to weave a dynamic textile from liquid, air and vapor. See how here:
