Rock & Republic have just released their latest campaign. Stephane Olivier shot it and tt’s all very sex and rock n roll. Enjoysies.

As is usual for Rock & Republic, the images are sexy without being obscene – so there aren’t a lot of clothes.  But the looks that are there are of course sleek and rock-inspired.

As this recession continues, life’s extravagance lacking simplicities are consuming our daily lives. We walk places that used to seem cab necessary. We skip out on the espresso and opt for a cheaper, chalkier tasting coffee. We have do-it-yourself spa days instead of getting weekly pedicures. Completely aware of this recession mentality, Rock & Republic, who you used to drop almost $300 on denim for, is slated to release their rendition of the recession cutbacks. Plain Wrap, a very basic “jeans and tees” kind of line will be available this August as a cheap alternative to disposable fashion. 

This recession conscious line is definitely a great idea, but who really wants “T-Shirt” written across their tees or “Windbreaker” written on the back of their windbreaker? The “Stiletto” stiletto I don’t mind so much, but as soon as Plain Wrap hits the street, you’re going to be able to know exactly who has succumb to the recession blues…just look for the guy with the “Jacket” on his jacket.

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, daughter of the editor of French Vogue Carine Roitfeld, attended the Rock & Republic Party in Paris  wearing a sexy one-shouldered Rock & Republic Spring 2009 mini dress with ruffled detailing on the shoulder. To complete the look, she accessorized the outfit with a bow headband and YSL Tribute heels.

Just another reason for more guidos from Jersey to invade Soho. Rock & Republic is opening up a store in the area to push their insanely wide boot cut jeans to a crowd already immersed in True Religion, AG, 7 For All Mankind, Lucky Brand, Levi’s and Gstar. The store will be at 102 Greene street near Spring, and will just further saturate Soho with stores that the people who live there don’t even shop at.

Rock & Republic will open their New York flagship in Soho later this year.

The new store is slated to open in November at 102 Greene Street (between Broome and Spring).

The denim line, which recently released a cosmetics line, has been rapidly expanding and will occupy two levels in the new location.

Rock & Republic rocked out Saturday with their sexy, yet sophisticated Spring 2009 collection. Short and tight was the name of the game. Throw in some ruffles, a pair of skin-tight jeans, ready to party stilettos and a radiant blazer and you’re in business! Night life will never be the same again.

So confused right now. I thought (also see hoped and wished) DVB was done and out since Victoria filed a lawsuit against Rock & Republic?  Guess that won’t stop her from a whirlwind promotional tour in the UK for the denim line.  She wore some jeans from the line which were in desperate need of some hemming. Come on Vicky as a “fashion icon” you should really try to work on dressing in clothes that fits right, unless you’re trying to start some wickedly stupid trend.

Posh Bot 2000 is getting ready to sue Rock & Republic jeans for lost wages. She claims the company is lying about her jeans inability to sell and wants $100 million in damages.   This is probably the first time a celebrity designers sues for not being sellable.

Rock & Republic claimed the jeans didn’t sell cause Becks never promoted the line, missing appearances at LA spots like Kitson.  Personally, her Planet of the Apes mug wouldn’t have gotten me to drop $200 on a pair of over embellished denim, but that’s just me.

I love that Becks thinks the problem is with Rock & Republic and isn’t thinking that maybe, just maybe, no one gives to shakes about the shit she tries to sell. Sorry Marc, it’s true.
