Designer duo Richard Ascott and Philip Colbert are Rodnik. With their signature parasols and quirky, flirty designs, they were quickly launched to a respectable status in May 2006 after sweeping through several New York parties. Design, however, was not their first goal. They happened upon the idea while on a spur of the moment trip to Russia where they found themselves inspired by the folklore and local art. The name Rodnik came from a fairy-tale store supposedly opened by a princess some 100 years ago.
